Yes, he does stay with the family . His dad now has a German Sheppard, who is his new partner . Raider is enjoying his retirement being surrounded by lotsa love .

I am disabled and was just gifted a pure bred AKC Belgian Malinois puppy a few weeks ago. She is amazing, smart, and full of energy. She learns fast and I'm sure that training with me for the next 6 months will prove her out to be an exceptional, valuable, and cherished sidekick. (And Maligator) 😊
I hope you’re an experienced dog handler. That breed, more than many others, is a handful! But enjoy. There’s nothing better than a well-trained dog.
@@CLGUWS3746 perfect advice. I do have plenty of help. The best thing about it,- there will never be a "Service-Dog Free" Zone, and more importantly, I will never have to pull her trigger. She's training to be an "Automatic." 😏👍
The Malinois is maybe the smartest dog in the world! They are gifted athletes and are not afraid of ANYTHING! Make sure you don’t have her retrieve things for entertainment too much. A malinois stops at nothing to complete its job! They can jump higher and farther than any dog I have ever seen. You are so lucky! She will be your very best friend and never abandon you until the day she dies. God help anyone who tries to harm you!
@@greggalexander8216 she's still quite the puppy. Needs something to do whenever her eyes are open. She's awesome off leash. Needs some work on leash ...I walk with a cane she needs to stay on my left by command. The thing she needs to learn most right now is our property. We live in the desert and she could actually get lost without even leaving the property. It's amazing how much more I can walk since I got her!

Wow, that is some gift. I've had 6 German Shepherds in my lifetime, and they are still my favorite dog, but I am now 65 so I had to downsize to labs. I considered getting a Mal, but I still don't think I could handle one now. They may be smaller, but they are just as strong.
Everyone will give you advice and tell you either how great this is or what a mistake it is, but this is an amazing dog you have been gifted, and the choice is yours to keep it or not. Training and living with a Mal will be extremely challenging, especially in the beginning during the destructive puppy and headstrong adolescent stages, but so worth it.
From experience in 45 years of training and living with aggressive dog breeds, I recommend you learn as much as you can about dominance in dog behavior. I found out the hard way that if you let your dog do dominant things as a puppy, it can be difficult to correct this behavior when they are fully grown. I made this mistake with a Great Pyrenees, and it cost a fortune to retrain him. It was adorable having him jump up on me or watching him chasing my kids around when he was 25lbs, not so cute when he weighed more than I did.
Going to weekly training sessions will help both of you, and don't be afraid to discuss with your trainer any questions or doubts you have.
All dogs become part of your family, but these breeds are so special because they become a part of YOU, and will be there to help you before you even know you need it.
I don't know how disabled you are, but this dog will change your life. Enjoy this extraordinary gift, but please be honest with yourself and your dog, and if for any reason you find that this is too much, ask for help.

My girl helps me too!
She licks my tears when I'm upset.
When my anxiety is high, which gets my legs a shakin, she'll lay across my legs to try to calm me!
And she has a never ending supply of kisses!
She's never been trained to do these things, she's just smart!
I've been talking to her like a human since she was 3 months old and can give commands she hasn't been trained on, and she responds appropriately!
