My dogs have ALWAYS been my brothers and sisters growing up. Then they became my kids. My current kid is a 70 pound Pittbull. And he's such a sweet raging bull of a dog! Friendly as hell but I wouldn't trade my kid for all the money in the world!
There’s a special place in heaven for those who help others who cannot help themselves. Thank you for helping this little guy. It means so much to have people like you in this world.
Goats are soooooo underrated! Thank you for this post. If my city allowed everybody to have just two (they're herd animals and get lonely) fixed pygmy goats, think of all the lawnmowers that would NOT be polluting the air. Goat droppings are nearly 100% sterile and make great fertilizer. They will follow you like a dog. The list goes on and on.
We used to have a kid we named Princess. One day my mother panicked because she could not find her in the field. Lo and behold, the cute kid was actually sleeping on her bed all the time. Hehehe.
Goats are also capable of eating a lot of toxic plants that other herbivores can't eat, so they're great at controlling invasive plant species. The downside, however, is that because goats browse by either clipping the plant right down to the roots (or pulling up the whole plant, roots and all), they can be equally devastating to native plant species, so care does need to be taken when they're brought into a new habitat.
Yeah, I have goats, Nigerian dwarfs, it’s just not that simple. Goats are not just breathing lawn mowers, they don’t actually get the bulk of their diet from ‘mowing grass’ you’re thinking cows which I also have. Goats are browsers meaning they get over half their diet from tree leaves, tree bark etc. they prefer to eat ‘up’ rather than down. They will eat grass but that is not the primary component of their diet. The average person’s back yard is most likely totally insufficient to maintain a pair of goats unless you are prepared to supplement (on top of the free choice minerals you need to maintain). They love to jump on things, including you and your kids, they love to head but things including you and your kids. They can also be very destructive, they require very good fencing. If you have bucks you have a whole other set of issues from the smell to the aggressiveness to the constant desire to find mates. They will chew on and destroy things if they are not well contained. You also have to think about what happens in the winter when people’s lawns & trees go dormant - what are you going to feed them then? Is everyone going to properly take care of their goats and buy hay/feed? I know it sounds like a great ‘sustainable’ plan but these are living creatures that require more than just setting them out on your lawn. They also breed well - often heaving triplets so if you have mixed sex you will be overrun by goats that well exceed your ‘grass’ capabilities. If you stick with only females what happens to the bucks? If you let them breed are you prepared to castrate your bucklings? I haven’t even gone into how they all spend all day looking for ways to hurt themselves - sticking their heads through fencing, climbing things as high as they can, chewing on things that should never be eaten. I love my goats but they are absolutely not like dogs and they are definitely not for most people.
Bottle baby goats are the best, we had a baby that was rejected and had to be bottle fed, and she was adorable, just the snuggliest baby ever. We ended up rehoming her because we couldn’t keep taking her in to work just to keep her fed. She was a very small baby goat, one of 4 babies crammed into our smallest adult doe. Despite being so itty bitty, she was a very happy, bouncy little thing who adored literally everyone and just wanted to be pet.
Yall, there’s not much on planet Earth that’s cuter than a baby goat 🤲🌎 Everything from his little tail wag, his hops, energetic zoomies, big ol’ ears, cute eyes, his white high-top hair, and those noises… come on! 🥰🤩

After watching so many animal videos on U-Tube, I've realized just how much so many animals are under-rated. OMG! What a cutie! And what a story! That little goat could never have survived without that compassionate woman's constant surveillance! He couldn't even breathe right! An unparalleled story of how a very, very sick baby goat survived against all the odds! This was simply jaw-dropping! And he just got cuter and cuter and more sassy and full of personality as he grew! I love the way he comes calling to his "mama" in the evening, ready to come home with her and go to bed! This woman was that little goat's HERO! She saved his life, no doubt about it!
We just took on Milo. His mother rejected him and he has absolutely bonded with my wife and I both. He is so sweet like his daddy. The bond that develops is priceless
He’s been out with the other boys for some time after he got strong emotionally and physically. There were a few days at the beginning he was upset and we comforted him but he’s stronger and happy. We find that it’s always best to move the goat back out with the herd. We have a doe who is now a permanent resident inside due to her injury but she still has recess with the herd
What a handsome boy Thank you for saving him Your incredible love & care ushered him through those initial tough first days but what a reward you have received. He is such a spirited & adorable goat. You are an amazing lady.

That'd make any place a tourist attraction.
Honestly though, if you step into a goat turd, you won't care about sterility. Still ick.
