The problem with producers and directors who make bad horror movies and inferior remakes is they do not understand what actually scares viewers. I fear also this 2023 remake will not live up to the original 1979 version.
to be honest Geoff, the driving force to most remakes is greed and identity politics and the greed part applies to a lot of sequels as many movies just do not need a sequel in my opinion.
I've heard it could be debuting on HBO Max . I just hope it's at least very good and well worth all this waiting . It's doubtful it will beat Tobe Hooper's 1979 Masterpiece but as long as it's a great or even very good movie I'll be more than happy . Hooper's version is alot to live up to . I still don't understand why no stills have been publicly released from this movie . The whole production has been very strange to say the least .
@@johnbleakley4125 That's because they completed a load of re shoots last year. Test screenings bombed so Dauberman panicked and went back behind the camera. There has been no marketing because the studio has zero faith in the movie.
to keep blaming covid as the reason for the delay in releasing this movie is crazy, there has to be much more to this , i guess warners are aware of the negative feedback from the fanbase and the love for the tobe hooper miniseries.

Word is its the long - awaited Gary Dauberman's Salem's Lot !! I've also heard someone has seen the " theatrical '' poster for this new movie and , apparently , it's bloody fantastic !!

This whole area has always been a popular filming location for Hollywood. A few other films shot in Ipswich are The Crucible with Daniel Day-Lewis and the original adaption of Flowers In The Attic. It's sort of a creepy, rural town.
Why is it just about every filmmaker insists on making their Stephen King adaptations absolute dog shit? The dog shit far outweighs the gold. When I read that this is supposed to come out in just over 2 months but there's absolutely zero news on it, I knew it was pretty much a death sentence
Not all King adaptions are shit though. There are some excellent ones. Shawshank The Green Mile The Shining Misery The original 1994 adaption of The Stand and the very underrated Dolores Claiborne.

Several people here are commenting that the 1979 film version of Salem's Lot was a great movie. I'm guessing those people have never read the novel. After reading Salem's Lot which was one of the most suspenseful and well written books that I've ever read, the 1979 film was a very poor and disappointing adaptation. The 2004 remake which was a more accurate version of the book was an improvement over the 1979 film but was still another poor adaptation. If the upcoming film version of Salem's Lot covers every major part of the novel, it could be one of the greatest horror films of all time.
i get what your saying that the 2004 version was more acurate as far as the novel was concerned, one point being that barlow was not nosferatu, but it appears that many people prefer the tobe hooper version myself included.
i forgot to add that there seems to be some race and gender changes of some of the characters in this new adaption of kings story, so even if it covers everything in the book there will still be some issues with the changes and they are making this movies to make money so keeping the fanbase happy is paramount.
@@brucewayne7838 Barlow being a Nosferatu looking vampire with no speaking role is one of the many things that disappointed me about the 1979 film. I also disagree with any gender changes that are apparently in the new film with a female in the role of Dr. Cody. If the film makers would just adhere to every major part of the novel, I think the movie will be a huge success.

time has proven that stephen king likes it when people make dog shit adaptations of his work. when they make great ones he either complains or shrugs.
Not all King adaptions are shit though. There are some excellent ones.
