32:48 - 33:08 1) The script girl must have been drinking at lunch, 2) the director not paying attention to detail or some other, behind-the-scenes excuse for the disappearing, flashing, police car bubble. An oversight in 'continuity' -- David Soul puts it atop the Torino; immediately followed by stock footage of the duo racing through city streets in emergency mode; then, arriving at the destination [shot at 20th Century Fox Studios' backlot] and suddenly, NO flashing bubble in sight because NO bubble in sight. Not one of their finer shows. Huggy Bear's dialogue is lame and his altered work environment are too much of a stretch. HOW MANY TIMES have we seen the boys' 'cute meet and greet with pretty, young women' and then of course the OBVIOUS follow-up where Starsky can't remember the girls' phone number that was practically cemented in his brain he'd assured Hutch? The wonderful John Saxon who's done Shakespeare-quality work in John Huston's "The Unforgiven" (1960; NOT to be confused with Eastwood's), outstanding work starring in his medical show "The Bold Ones" 'The New Doctors' segments and guest starring on "The Virginian" as regular Sara Lane's ('Elizabeth' of the Shiloh Ranch) first, serious love interest throughout four seasons, can do little to next-to-nothing to inspire here. Worst of all the 'banter' between the two young cop partners is poorly written and comes off as David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser are just 'going through the motions' delivering the dialogue -- ?tired of their roles? -- and this is only the second season. . . . At least the second season's theme -- exciting, catchy and WONDERFUL -- is a VAST improvement over the first season's dismal attempt at a cop show's score. But here, "SALEMS LOT UK" excises it after only six seconds on the end credits and totally blows off the main title. Sigh. While many Commenting seemingly appear 'besides themselves' on the 'thrill' of seeing a pre-"Three's Company" Suzanne Somers, for the record, the two blondes in the club, 'Jane' and 'Bobette,' are played by Lindsay Bloom ("Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer") and Colleen Camp ("Apocalypse Now" and "Clue").

This is fantastic.

what i most remember about this series is they always had the hottest women. their girlfriends in the show were smokin hot. wouldn't be surprised if most of the women where playmates at some point.

this is one of the very best horror stories I have ever read or listened to. Although it's background is based on the book Salem's Lot, I think this story is far superior. King managed to pack a whole book's worth of chilling terror into this short story.

I saw this episode when I was sixteen, one of the best, if a little off centered, episodes in the entire series, I was hoping Rene was a real vampire, but that was not to be.

I remember watching this episode when I was a kid, this was my favorite cop show until Hill Street Blues came along!

Imo the 1979 Mini series is THE ONLY true version of salems lot!

The narration is superb!

Hooper's voice sounds a lot like David Soul's voice here. I know it has nothing to do with the movie but just saying lol. Salem's lot is my favorite movie of all time. Scared me to death as a 7 year old kid in 79'. I didn't see the one with Rob Lowe but I wanna see this new one if Warner bros ever releases it.

Thanks for posting! Ive had this story rattling around in my brain for years and could never place it. I searched all the usual suspects as far as 'mythos' writers but always came up short. I totally forgot that King had dabbled in the mythos.

Back in the day(Depression Era) money was tight and Radio Dramas were the Norm for all the Hollywood hits.Thankyou so much for airing this great series as the miniseries is unavailable on UA-cam! Just close yer eyes and use yer IMAGINATION!
