If this is a 1974 model, then it was built at the beginning of the transition period from the muscle car era to the lemon era, when auto manufacturers were cutting down on horsepower, and quality. They claimed to be building more fuel efficient cars, many of which were in and out of the shop more than the older models were.
You didn't smoke out the front wheels like Starsky used to do in the show when he'd do a super fast take off. Gotta love old front wheel drive cars!
You mean rear wheels not front wheels this is a rear wheel drive car not front wheel drive ...... You cannot smoke the front wheels at all ..

Yep ,!! I know the original star sky and hutch car series ,, never had the whitewall writing on the tyres , shown on any of there tv shows ,,! However ,!!!! Due to personal taste , ,!! I prefer the writing on the tyres on the outside,!! It actually highlights the white stripe on the car ,!!! And just for a bit of trivia for you ,!! They did use tyres with whitewall writing in there tv shows,!!!! But due to good year copyright infringement laws back then ,, ,!!! They had to turn there tyres around on there mags , and in one episode , you could there mechanic working under starskys car , and there’s a shot of “ good year “ written on the tyre facing inwards !!!!
It was my personal choice,!!! And just to be a smart ass ,,!! They. Used white wall lettering tyres in the tv show ,!! But had to turn the tyres around to hide the lettering , due to some copyright infringement bullshit ,!!!

Nice car mate! I only ever saw one of these Torino's in full Starsky trim here in the UK.That was back in 2010 at a Classic Car Show. Wow what a car, you're a lucky person.And living in the sunshine of Oz. Good on Ya Mate.

Well, tell your mate that these cars are pretty rare now, and to look well after it. I was on holiday in Los Angeles way back in October of 1981 and was amazed at just how few of these big old American cars were still on the roads over there, even back then. The only Torino's I saw were from the early 70's, like the one in the movie "Gran Torino" with Clint Eastwood. I guess at the time, the 74 - 76 Starsky Torino had not gained classic status at that point, even though Ford US had produced 1000 replica starsky Torino's for the general public to buy, back in 1977.
