I called Crutchfield and they talked me into this head unit along with the KTA-450 amp to go with it. I am replacing a stock ‘05 Tacoma audio unit which I honestly thought sounded great...hard to believe how insanely cheap the stock speakers are they have a very small magnet on them and look like they are made out of cardboard, lol.
This is going in an access cab not a 4 door so this setup should definitely be more than enough power for inside my vehicle to put a smile on my face. 🙂
I was talked into getting all Infinity with the REF-9630cx 6x9’s for my front speakers with the small tweeters that come with this package to give me truer highs and have the splitters all wired up and ready to go...and the Infinity REF-6532ex for for rear “access cab” doors in my Tacoma.
I do not mind having to plug in my IPhone 11 Pro Max so the wire does not bother me. I am really looking forward to using Apple CarPlay. 🙂
I realize the rear speakers are not going to have tons of bass but the speakers in front will have a lot more...not to mention I am also throwing a Rockford 12T Subwoofer in the rear of my truck to simply make up for any bass this particular audio setup may lack.
I finally am almost finished installing everything just need to get the amps power lead to the car battery and ground the other one...and of course splice into the main parking brake sensor on my truck ( I may do a brake bypass in the future).
I really hope I went with an amazing package here. I am definitely expecting this setup to absolutely blow away the cheap stock factory audio unit that came with my truck...and actually my ears are so used to my current stock system sounding awesome with tons of power!!!

I’ve had this unit in my pickup for over four months now. It’s very nice, especially for the money. Great sound. Looks awesome. Easy to use. I also installed a back up camera which is great. I recommend it
Is android auto wireless a feature of android auto or is it available for only certain radios?
Does this radio have the function where you can view your vehicles data?tire pressure,batt voltage ,rpm,0/60 time etc?thanks

I have this head unit. For whatever reason the head unit mic does not work in apple CarPlay but it will work on Bluetooth.

Great video. I bought one of these with the back up amp....and was very disappointed in the sound quality, particularly the bass. However, I didn't know about all the advanced settings. The guy that installed it said he had fine tuned the settings to what he thought I would like....which was wrong. Way too many highs and no lows....the exact opposite of what I like. I then bought a JL Audio 10" powered subwoofer....it may turn out to be overkill.

I think you mean access to the advanced audio controls/settings? Your vehicle needs to have the emergency break on (if it’s wired properly) or the emergency brake wire needs to be grounded in order to access these settings.
Is there a setting for Right-Hand Drive vehicles?
I bought this unit a few months ago but when using CarPlay it seems a bit of a stretch the menu bars on the side as its designed for LH-D.

I use this exact head unit, but for me, most of the settings are blacked out. For example I cannot click on volume, system, information, etc within the settings. Does anyone know of a solution to this?
It’s your parking break. You have to wire you parking break to the yellow blue wire or buy a parking break bypass and splice it in

Just one not both at the same time. Yes you have to disconnect one for the other.

The android auto is hella wonky, but the sound quality is great it's better to use just the bluetooth audio, as far as the sound the bass is very clean on my dual 12"
How is it wonky? Assuming new cables and updates didn't help? I have been strongly considering this.
@@ajciccone88 android auto disconnects often even plugged in. Even with a new usb cord.
Sound quality is much better using bluetooth
i went from a pioneer 4660 to this and as a liflong alpine die hard im sorry to admit im not impressed,the pioneer had 100xs better features and sounded great,this alpine seems basic as they come and i cannot for the life of me get it to sound the way i want,any help on tweaking the outputs??
The 4660 is substantially more costly. Its in another tier.
There is a major drawback to this system. If you're running a navigation app from your phone, you can't change radio stations without losing the visual map on your screen. This happens whether you manually change radio stations using the touchscreen, or your steering wheel radio controls. The only way I can listen to music without losing the navigation screen is to change the display to a split screen and run a music app instead of the radio, but this uses up data on my phone, and I prefer listening to the radio.
This is an interesting point. I believe this is happens for all CarPlay and Android Auto devices.

Does anybody *Factually * know at what volume this ILX 650 will send a clipped signal? In other words, what's the max volume for delivering a CLEAN SIGNAL.
Mine clipped right at 32, I tuned everything at 30.

May I ask how you checked for a clipped signal?
@@yootoo567 used a 40hz test tone -5db put the oscope on the output of my sub amp with everything flat and off turned up the headunit until it clipped on the oscope.

I’ve heard the speaker outputs and RCA outputs clip at different levels. I’ve heard the speakers is 21 but if you know any better please correct me
So far it’s not good go with something else maybe I am just too new with it. I should have went Sony the Sony factory in my old vehicle worked great

I have this unit and I regret it. Having physical buttons is a MUCH better idea.
Having the radio always on with no switch off function is such a bad design. Also, static noise on calls are so bad.

You have to hold the menu button(group of sqaures) at the bottom on the unit in th middle. Hold it for a second and it will turn off.
