@O M I'm a diyer so is fun for me. All those tools are very helpful but can be done without them. I've done stereo subs amp installations for more than 10 years is all good and fun the more u do.
I'm beginning to wish I hadn't bought an alpine product! I did a whole install myself "no problem!" speakers, sub, amp etc. For an older guy I was pretty proud. I even had the radio in the car working etc and it sounded great "BUT!" I had great problems when I had to do the e-brake connection. Even though I could find where the wires were, trying to find the correct one? I tested, I probed. I even became so exasperated by this one detail I went to several audio/electrical places and was willing to pay them to hook up this one wire to end the nightmare of getting it connected. None of them were interested, just kept telling me install a parking brake bypass. If you go that route Crutchfield say your actions are illegal and they terminate tech support and say they can no longer assist you and hang up. This pained me greatly because I valued my Crutchfield support as invaluable and above all. I wasn't interested in bypassing anything to watch video's etc I just wanted access the full menu's. Thread after thread on UA-cam talk about the same frustration, no wonder the "By-Pass" it so talked about if Alpine make it so hard to access even the simplest function on a radio "the menu!". I've been turned off Alpine for ever after all the stupidity and frustration this has caused.
@@reecieboii My install was a little more complicated than radio functions. I installed a rear view camera and wanted to access Android Auto, It was accessing these functions which complicated the install. I also installed the camera to function when the vehicle was not in reverse but when towing a utility trailer/boat. I do have it working and all is now well! I broke down and installed the bypass, I have to admit it instantly solved the problem and I can see why people prefer to go that route on install.
This wasn’t an Alpine problem…Kenwood, Pioneer, etc…would have caused you the same issues. Glad you are up and running. I’m like you, an old guy doing my own installs and having fun! Alpine all day everyday! 🇺🇸
Hello and great review all around. I have this receiver in my car I just bought. 1988 ford Mustang, (older car/classic) I connected a USB cord to the back and it charges my android phone only. What else do I need, to connect the Bluetooth feature to my phone to make phone calls & listen to my music?
My installer used the usb cable and spliced it into the OEM USB port and it’s been nothing but problems even with new cables and iPhone brand cables too.
@@tinman7781 I had the Eonon GA9449 with the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto adapter. It’s a waste of time. The sound quality was mediocre at best. As soon as I wired up my iLX-W650, I fell in love. I had a few questions about my sound because I was only getting AM/FM sound and nothing from Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or even Bluetooth. Asked Crutchfield and within minutes someone was able to help me and it turns out I just wired to blue wires incorrectly. Get the MicroBypass parking brake bypass. That’s what I have and it’s beautiful. It allows me to have all the settings available without engaging my parking brake. The Alpine units look for an on, off and on trigger (in that sequence). I didn’t wanna wire it to my parking brake so I bought that and I’m pleased with it. Thinking of putting an amp and a bass tube in there as well pretty soon to improve the sound. So far, this is my setup. Alpine iLX-W650 (4) MTX-Terminator speakers
29:07 notice the big gap around the radio, i found it very difficult to find a radio to fit with no gap. I wish Alpine would make available more technical information on their radios.

Just found this great video after purchasing my 650. I wanted to ask about the buttons. In my 650, they stay on (illuminated) after the radio has been turned off. I'm wondering if this is a wiring issue or a feature that can be defeated somehow. Haven't seen this particular issue anywhere on the interwebs. Thanks, and kudos for the knowledge sharing.

Hey there... good night. I want to buy the Alpine ILX-W650 receiver with the Alpine HCE-C2600FD front camera and the Alpine HCE-C2100RD rear camera and have it install in Toyota Hilux 4x4 2008 SRV. I just installed this stereo and was able to link my iphone but car play is not working.it remains grayed out.i used a different cable then the one supplied,is there anything different in that cable supplied as opposed to any other usb? I’m guessing no since in the video you say to try plugging your phones usb directly into the stereo.thanks for any advice
how about the USB to connect your phone to. best buy installed mine and the usb cable is just hanging out the side of the passenger side. I have to take it back because it needed another part and they didn't have time to do it then. Can the cars USB be connected to the radio instead of having that usb cable just hanging. The cars USB was connected to the radio receiver it came with so I'm hoping they can connect it that way
I have this exact combo and I notice that the KTA-450 Amp gets very hot…I mean so hot I could cook eggs off of it. I have both the front and rear gain controls set very low and am getting tons of power to all my Infinity Reference speakers…very loud powerful beautiful sounding combination. Crutchfield told me this is normal but I am still too nervous to put this in my dash until I know this particular amp is supposed to get hot. It gets hot even if I am not playing music.
Having an issue with steering wheel controls on the Ilx-W650. I've installed it in a 2005 Toyota Camry, with the Axxess ASWC-1. The volume and next buttons work fine with the radio, however none of the controls work when streaming music from an iPhone, or Android phone. I've tried connecting directly to the USB on the back, and with the supplied extention cable. I've also tried different USB cables, 2 iPhones, and 1 Android. I'm a Toyota Technician, so I'm qualified to perform this install. I believe it to be a setting in the Headunit, as it works in the radio mode just fine. However, I can't seem to find any relevent settings. I've also searched Google, and can't seem to find any solution. Thanks for any help you may have to offer.

i believe this is the only model that doesnt allow that. i would prefer the home screen to be a solid color or black rather than the star wars futuristic image.

Hi, I own an iLX-W650 installed in a Subaru Outback 2013, but doesn't work the Steering Remote control interface. I used the CTSSU004.2 Steering Wheel Control Interface for Subaru Vehicles from Connects 2. Just 3 of 8 switches work but with the wrong command. Other five do not work at all. Scheme is just for your reference of what I have in my SW. Any advise or direction? Tks

That's probably because your radio isn't powerful enough, if you have a Dual radio, that explains everything, those are terrible. Otherwise, if it's not that, let me know which radio you have, and I might be able to help. Good audio starts at the head of the audio, aka, the radio.
Could I connect a 2.5 external hard drive to this? I haven't seen any videos with anyone thats shows a demo with a thumb drive or a 2.5 external drive. I was also wondering what the look of the menu is with the thumb drive. Thanks

FLAC can only be red via USB disk - right? CarPlay works only via USB right? So how is it possible to listen to flac and have CarPlay navigation simultaneously? How big can a USB drive can be? I am from south America and that parking break safety is annoying, should be a disable option or some adapter thats works to delete that feature for other countries than USA
Having issues with the Bluetooth. The widget is not lighting up to connect at all. I followed directions for the break but it still doesn't light up. Who else is having this problem? How do I fix it?
When I go to settings Bluetooth won’t light up. And when I go to Bluetooth in normal menu it says Bluetooth set up and can’t select. Not sure how to fix.
The only thing im wondering about this deck since ima be buying this and the ktp amp to replace my pioneer, is how to connect my sub amp? It says it has pre outs but the deck looks bare with no rca out puts, would i have to install a line out converter?

bypass just allows it to play video when ebrakes not on. all the ebrake function really is

Make sure you have the latest firmware! This unit had crazy gain out of the box, new firmware fixed it.
You could also turn the dials on the factory sound system interface. That fixed mine.
The ground wire on the ilx-407 harness is more thick than the black ground on the vehicle adapter harness. Should I still connect the two black wires?

Wired mine up perfectly and went out this morning and my headunit is completely dead checked all fuses and wiring and nothing 🙃

I guess IM not the only one that has this issue.... iphone 7 is fine.... iphone 11 call volume is soooooo low! So far you guys have been zero help...

How do you get the camera button on the radio to get the camera to turn on. Mine just shows a black screen.

There's a sub rca output.
It has a line-out harness. 2 sub pre-outs, 2 front pre, 2 rear pre, and 2 camera hookups.

Put switch on PB wire, connect to ground and use features whenever you flip the switch. No reason to park.
