    Bought a new old stock 2014 cb1100s in 2017 off the showroom floor, I'm just about to turn 8k on it. Still totally in love with the bike... it is a great all around bike. I will ride it until I need to stop riding for safety reasons (old age) 😊

      What a great find! It's an excellent cruiser isn't it! I think Honda made an exceptionally smooth machine with this one. It feels refined like a BMW :)

      @@PastorMattMoto funny you say it's smooth because Honda set it to have a little rough spot in it to make it resemble the carburetor on the original. They thought it was to smooth...

    I bought a 2014 CB1100 EX new a few years back. I've owned a lot of bikes and this Honda is my favorite. Definitely a keeper. I came close to getting a 2013, but I'm glad I went with the 2014 - Honda increased the fuel capacity a bit, added a 6th gear, 4 into 2 exhaust, and a gear indicator. One Pro I would add to the list is build quality. I recently took it to my local custom shop to put mount new tires and the mechanics (Harley guys) all commented on how impressed they were with the finish of the bike. Like you said it's not a great carver, but it's such a treat to ride. So smooth and everything works so well. A classic gentlemen's bike.

      I like your description of the CB1100 as a gentleman's bike! It really is. It's an easy to ride, smooth machine. I've heard these air cooled 4 cylinders have great long term reliability too :).
      I think the 14 was the last year they were available in the U.S. so that would be the newest one you could buy over here, nice find!

    I love my 2013 CB1100. I bought it last year with only 3800 miles on it. I know what mean about the gears, sometimes I forget if I’m in 4th or 5th gear and I know if I’m doing 50mph and the tach is about 2700rpm I know I’m in 5th. Lol

    I was lucky enough to score a 2013 CB1100 super low miles. I tend to agree with most of your
    assessment. Mine is completely stock. I bought it 850 miles away, and rode it home. I don't care
    to ride it on the interstate for hours on end. The second day I was doing 90 minute stints, then I needed to stop for 5 minutes or so.

    • @PastorMattMoto
      @PastorMattMoto  11 місяців тому +1

      Wow that is a ride home!! The furthest I've ridden a bike home after purchase is about 2.5 hours I would say. That's part of the fun of buying bikes though right! :) 😀

    I do wish it had a larger tank, My '79 750f holds 5.2 gal, and the extra range is good to have if you like long rides in the countryside (especially at night when there aren't many filling stations open.)

    • @PastorMattMoto
      @PastorMattMoto  6 місяців тому +1

      This is true, there are a few modern bikes that are plagued with small gas tanks :(. For example the new Suzuki Katana that Suzuki released a couple years back. Everyone was complaining about the tiny tank! Lol. It was the same platform as the GSX-S 1000 but for some reason they chose to shrink the tank down.

    I own a 2014 CB1100. Could you please let us why it runs on such high rpm? 1100 odd at neutral and when riding anywhere between 1500 and 2000 rpm. When you pull the clutch to shift, the rpm goes up. Got it checked by a mechanic and he says some bikes run like that. Thanks!

    • @PastorMattMoto
      @PastorMattMoto  11 місяців тому +1

      This is a great question. I will do more research and see what I can find. I heard that the CB1100 was tuned by Honda to feel like it has a carb, even though it is fuel injected, to keep in line with its throwback looks. Maybe this contributes to the high idle as well? If there is something wrong with yours specifically, you could try giving the fuses a check to see if everything is in order there. I'll see if I can fire mine up tomorrow, and check to see what the idle speed is.
      I do remember that the idle seemed quite high when it was cold, but I never thought about whether the idle came down significantly, at stop lights and such, once the CB was warmed up.

    • @northrider8628

      I have heard that before, I don't have the problem. Look it up in the cb1100 forum

    • @jaredbrooker
      @jaredbrooker 10 місяців тому +1

      It's likely the idle air control valve. I had to replace mine (2013 model) as I had a wonky idle; sometimes too low where she'd nearly die out, sometimes it would creep super high. It should idle around 1100-1200rpm. Replacing the AIC valve solved the issue for me.

    • @PastorMattMoto
      @PastorMattMoto  11 місяців тому +2

      No, I think it basically has the perfect power for its intended use. It's not meant to light your hair on fire like a Superbike, but it will get up and go when you push the rpms into the upper ranges! And it delivers that power in an ultra smooth way 😎

    • @scroy
      @scroy 9 місяців тому +6

      I have 2013 Standard. These bikes are plenty fast. If you open it up and Rev it it's about as fast as you'd want any 550 lb machine to get! The torque is always there at almost any rpm too. It will blow away any of the original UJMs like the 900/1000Z or the old Honda 750s. Yeah, in a world where you can get bikes with almost 200 hp off the showroom floor it's not fast, but against 90% of vehicles on the road it hauls ass.

    no abs its the speedo ring

    • @PastorMattMoto
      @PastorMattMoto  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the comment, on both vids :). I wasn't aware that ABS rings were also used passively as speed sensors, even in some cases where ABS isn't present! I just looked it up and you are correct, so no ABS on this CB1100 :). I think I've only ever activated ABS once while riding, no matter what motorcycle I've been on. Even with ABS, progressive braking is still a hugely important skill to have.

    I dont have a gear indicator on my semi truck when i shift, too loud, up shift, lugging or too quiet then downshift. your bike will scream to let you know

    • @PastorMattMoto
      @PastorMattMoto  11 місяців тому +1

      For sure the bike definitely lets you know! You can glance at the tach too, and that will let you know if you are visually getting close to the redline :).
      It's just nice to have a gear indicator, if you forget to count gears, then go to stop at a red light and don't remember if you were in 3rd 4th or 5th lol :p. Just a couple extra clicks down fixes the problem though.

    • @PastorMattMoto
      @PastorMattMoto  9 місяців тому +2

      Hi, yes I have actually. I would say the longest ride would only have been about an hour to an hour and a half, though.
      It seems like this cb1100 is sprung in the rear for a passenger, the aftermarket shocks are pretty stiff. So I actually like riding the bike 2 up more than I do solo. Solo it's pretty stiff over bumps, with the current setup.
      It handles really well with a passenger, and backrest on the Corbin sear is great! The CB1100 has plenty of power for 2 up, in my opinion. It still gets up and moves :)

      You are right, it does handle fine in the corners, I think it's the current tires on the bike, that are stealing corner confidence, like I mentioned in the video.

      The motorcycle that broke my heart.... Mine had the high idle issues. Long story, but it was fully documented on the forum. As for saddlebags, I purchased the SW Motech Blaze saddlebag system I highly recommend them. As for the exhaust I had the Yoshimura slip on. Take out the silencer and it sounds amazing.I miss my CB1100.
