Amazing triple Youngtimer 🤙🤙🤙
I have the same bike and love it. I’m 62 and still crankin it !
Makes me miss riding my sprint. Great video, great sound. Love the triples noise 🖖
just got one couple of days ago and its my first "big" bike, damn its a fun bike
У меня w650. Супер мотоцикл.❤
I have a 2007 in the exact same color and I'm also running the Elite's on it. I have used the same tire model since I first bought the bike in 2010 and I have never had an issue with grip on those things. It's always felt really stable and it wears well. I've ridden in the rain and admittedly have been really easy on the throttle on wet roads but they also seemed to do just fine. I just don't have enough rain rides on that bike and tire to speak more on that side of things.
Getting an 07 this month October 2024. In Red, the green looks awesome. Ride safe pastor. 🙏
I've got an 06 K1200r and an 05 1150r. The Michelins are almost done for on the 1150 and I'm thinking hard about putting Mutants on. How aggressively can you ride them because that's the only thing holding me back on buying them.
👍
He's wrong about the Hayabusa being a sport tourer. Suzuki website says that it's the ultimate sport bike in the first paragraph. About the cornering, Gen 1 is the best cornering generation of the Hayabusa. It's very impressive compared to the other 2. Gen 3 is close. Gen 2 is stiff. Gen 1 dives into the corners and holds the line much better. I have 4 Busas, all generations, I know! Another thing, it'll dominate the big fat awkward Kawasaki zx-14r the canyons.
Thanks for checking out the Busa video! I guess it depends on what your definition of a sport bike is. When most people think of a sport bike, they usually think of moto 2, moto 3 or moto gp, light, quick performance machines, that can be flicked back and forth quickly. While the busa is an incredibly powerful bike, it is neither light nor easily flickable. If you've ridden 600 supersports, or even something like the mt10, the difference in maneuverability is pretty large. Thats not to say you can't do tight work on a busa, it just takes considerably more effort. I've ridden many different machines on very tight runs, and my personal preference for that type of sport work is something light with wide bars, like a street triple, for example. Now for sporty but still comfortable, and immense power in wide sweepers and straight line pulls, the busa is the king! I guess it just depends on where you live, and what roads you find yourself on most :).
I have one ,same year 2011 ,Same color.
The Yoshi is obnoxiuosly loud. I wouldn't want to ride behind one.
I agree it's a bit louder than I would like, I had a Yoshimura on an S1000R as well, it was too much for my taste :p
Centre stand, camshaft is driven via bevel gear, and 360 degree engine...yeah, it's retro. Cool bike for VERY casual riding.
It's definitely a ton of fun, but I agree, it's not meant to get super sporty with. A really cool looking and characterful machine tho :)
Had a 2001 Speed Triple, excellent machines
I want to be riding, again, by next riding season, and I am sold on the M109r. I have seen videos where guys have gotten these bikes with less that 10K miles on them for as low as $3500. 5 thousand will get you a clean one, if you are patient and resourceful. What I like about the M109s compared to the other Jap muscle cruisers, is that it tries the least to look like a Harley. I want a Jap muscle bike to scream Japan when I look at it. I must admit that Harley Davidson has made great strides in the engineering of many of their bikes, but Jap bikes have always been on the cutting edge of technology, and when you buy a used Jap bike you get a lot of bang for your buck in terms of power, performance, and technology. Laugh at me for not riding an American made bike. I'll have the wind in my face, power at the throttle, and smooth performance for mere shekels, compared to what I would pay to ride a comparable American bike. Plus, this M109 outperforms all but a few Harleys. When I finally get my own M109, I'm going to put some cool Japanese characters on my bike to celebrate the bike's engineering and heritage. I'm 62, now, and, while I have not ridden in years, my last bike being a V45 Sabre with 84 HP, I kind of want to settle into a Cruiser type of motorcycle for more comfort, but I also want performance. I've looked at them all, and the M109r is a beast.
This may be one of the most characterful bikes Japan makes. I wish they imported the non chromed blacked out model here in the US. My favorite thought is the cafe model. I don't know if they produce that model still but it seems like they only imported it into the US for a year or two. These roads you were riding on look perfect for this type of bike. They are very similar to the roads in my area. Bike with lower power are perfect for these roads. I have an Aprilia Tuono V4 and it is way overpowered and not fun at all for these roads. I had a DR 650 that I recently sold. Very seldom rode it off road, it was mainly my around town and back road commuter. Looking at either a supermoto or a cruiser and I think this bikes looks like a fun option. I think I might try the cafe model, that one just speaks to me. Thanks for the review, one of the best Ive seen.
Another killer video Matt! Great work!
@LeapMoto Thanks man!! Looking forward to one of the parallel twin 650's next! :)
Love the KLR!
@adamtagarro7755 The Spec sheet definitely doesn't these machines justice!!
I waited too long, I can't find a single Eliminator for sale in Ontario. How many KM/hr is 70 mph?
Thanks for checking out the Eliminator video! Sorry to hear they are selling out up there! You could contact Tomah Area Powersport and see if they would ship the 2024 W800 they have on the floor there, I'm not sure what it would cost to import it up there in Canada tho. 70mph is about 112km/hr.
Salutations motardes. Busa31 France.
Thanks for checking out the video Busa31! It's interesting to hear what your thoughts were on the Gen 3 Busa. I've only ridden the Gen 1 so far. I'm looking forward to trying a Gen 2 this coming season, if I can find one at a good price :). The 99 you have is a first year model correct? They are getting really rare around here!
Het Matt how tall are you ?
Hey thanks for checking out the review! Im about 6 foot with the Garnae race boots on, about 5'10 otherwise.
@@PastorMattMoto Thank you <3
@@PastorMattMoto Ive ordered a 2025 model today just waiting on stock, they told me the new models should be in stock in about 30 days here in EU.
@@joaovasco3969 Awesome! It's such a fun machine! I seriously did not want to give it back :)
Nice bike, great colour too. Got a C109, bigger bars, footboard and more of an upright riding position. Takes a bit to get used to the bulk of it and the way the throttle works but just love riding it. It is true, it is Planted on the road, a comforting feeling. Ridiculous torque. Occasionly screw it on but not for long because it really gets going and I want to hang onto my licence!
Try using all the gears, the boxer engine has so much low to mid range torque that it doesn’t need to be bounced off the rev limiter or held at the upper part of the rev range
The owners manual indicates to limit the rpm to 4000 and below during break in period. (1000km/600miles). How many miles on that bike?
There was about 10 miles on the W800, there are different ideas about breaking in bikes, some people hold to riding easy for the first 500-600 miles, some say you should riding the bike how you are going to right away. I'm a bit in the middle, I don't like to ride the new bikes real hard, but I don't think going mega easy after the bike is fully warmed up is totally necessary either. For example with the bmw boxers, if you go real easy on them at the beginning, they tend to burn oil for a few thousand miles. That's what's going on with my 22 R ninet at the moment.
@@PastorMattMoto There is a reason that most motorcycle dealers don't permit road tests of brand new motorcycles. Kawasaki doesn't have "different ideas" about breaking in a motorcycle engine they are very specific. What would a prospective buyer of that motorcycle think? What would the dealer think? You were at or close to redline several times and you provided video evidence. Your ideas of breaking in an engine are fine and dandy for a motorcycle that you own. Not for someone else's motorcycle. I have a 2022 W800 that I broke in by the Kawasaki manual. It didn't burn oil during the break in or since. Riding a new motorcycle hard during break in will result in some oil consumption until the rings and bore are bedded in.
I thought the same thing as I watched him hit redline numerous times on a bike which he said had 9 miles on it. I wouldn’t want to buy that one.
@Bob-xc2us Thanks for the conern, I do appreciate all the feedback I get on the channel, I am always learning new things as well. :) I specifically asked the dealership about this, and they said not to worry about it. The manager there also watches all my videos. I definitely don't think my style of riding on these videos is in any way what could be considered aggressive. I am very respectful of the machines during the approx 15 to 20 mile ride I take them on for the dealership first ride videos. There are many reputable sources that now recommend not completely babying new machines, but it does depend on who you ask. I'm somewhere in the middle currently. I don't think they should be ridden super hard right away, but also putting around for 600-1000 miles is not something that is totally necessary anymore, according to majority of what I have read. I take it along the lines of, the you must only use our proprietary oil doctrine, that some hold to. There is absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to proprietary dealer oil, but I don't believe it is necessary since we have many examples of people running Rotella T6 in motorcycle engines and putting hundreds of thousands of miles of road and racing on bikes from all manufacturers, without oil related failures.
Manufactures put that in the manual for rider safety reasons. If you are a new rider they want you to get to know how the bike handles before you push on. Modern manufacturing has very precise tolerances and does not require break in like it did 60 years ago. If you watch any manufacturing video they spin these engines up to redline right after assembly on the production line. The worst way to break in an engine is to load it or ride at a steady rpm. You should be going thru repetitive periods of acceleration and deceleration without putting excessive stress on the engine. The type or roads and riding he did in this video was perfect for break in.
It's a 360 degree parallel twin like the old British bikes. The pistons rise and fall at the same time but fire alternately at 360 degrees apart.
Yeah it's definitely a different feel to most other parallel twins, really cool!
i wonder if it would be wasted spark too? or is that a thing of the past..
@@AndyPat239 It probably is. If I find out for sure I will let you know. Many motorcycles, even 4 cylinders, use a wasted spark system.
How does it compare to the 955i speed triple? The engine performance?
That's a good question, they are similiar sizes and both triples, so the engine characteristics aren't worlds apart. The XSR has softer suspension, at least the 2019 model year, the XSR suspension was changed in 22 to be more sporty, along with more sporty ergos. The 19 XSR 900 is more of a motard/supermoto seating position, the pegs on the 955i are much more tucked up and back like you would find on a supersport. I would say the XSR has more top end than the 955i, but it was also a much newer machine. The 955i had alot of miles on it, so that may have made a difference in its current performance.
best bike i ever bought and i will never sell
It's an awesome machine isn't it? I think I'll probably be looking for a second gen soon as well:)
I call it a standard bike.
Thanks for checking out the W800 video! Yeah I think standard is right term for these cruisers as well :)
Kawasaki also calls it a "W800 Standard" bike as opposed to the Street or Cafe version that are no longer sold here.
Cb 1000r vs street triple 675r which one do you think is better?
Hmm that is a good question. I can't speak directly to the 675, because it's been so long since I've ridden one, so I'll have to go off of memory. I currently own a 765RS though. I think right now I would take either Triumph over the CB1000R for the type of riding that I do. The CB is going to have more total power for sure, but lately I've really been into light and highly maneuverable machine. After having a bunch of high powered machines like the hayabusa and the zx14, I've been enjoying the lightness of supermotos and the street triple. ....that's not to say I'll never buy a Hayabusa again though!! If I was going to get another hyper naked I think it would be the MT10, I had one for a short period of time (it's on the channel here too) and that thing was totally ridiculous!
@@PastorMattMoto Thank you for your reply. I'm looking for a light motorcycle. It's true that I don't have a catalytic converter in my Honda. I installed a full bore and tuned it on the dyno. But I miss the ease of driving and I like to rev the engine at high speeds. Honda doesn't have this. I thought he would change the entire suspension, but does it make sense? street triple 675r weighs only 182kg and this convinces me very much. Street triple 765rs is unfortunately too expensive for my budget.
The speed limit for the first 800 km (500 mls) is 4000 rpm. If you had stuck to it, you would have actually been able to experience the character of the bike. But anyway: You nailed it in 25 Min. The most important things about this bike has been said The brakes are actually surprisingly good. One wonders what was done wrong with the superbikes with their complex braking systems. For 2 full floating discs, 12 pistons radially mounted calipers and radial brake pumps, braided hoses and aggressive pads the difference is disproportionate to the effort.
Get it up to about 150mph and you'll notice the difference.😅
@@bruceclark5627 I did not say, there is no difference.
@@besenwieslersepp1011 you said the difference is "disproportionate to the effort". If you put a $4,000 scope on a $50 yard sale .22 and you never reach past 80 yards, you can honestly say it doesn't do any better than the $40 scope you bought a K-Mart in 1982.Therefore the EFFORT to build the ATN is DISPROPORTIONATE to the performance difference between said scopes.
Thanks for checking out the W800 video! Yeah these brakes are surprisingly good. They have really nice feel as well, they don't have a hard aggressive bite at the top like modern brembos do, but they feel really good and appropriate for the type of machine this is, and the kind of riding most people are likely to do on the W800 :)
@@bruceclark5627 The W800 is not designed for 150mph speeds. Nor will it attain those speeds. The brakes are phenomenal for the intended use and capabilities of the machine. Not everything in motorcycling is about how far above the speed limit your motorcycle can go but I do understand the attraction.
They are a better road bike in my opinion than the 1050, the suspension and chassis is much stiffer on the 1050 especially the R version, great for tracks but not so good for road riding, especially hear in the uk, our roads are starting to look like a 3rd world country. Hence the massive down turn in sports bikes, and uptake in ADVENTURE bikes.
Yeah the roads around here in Wisconsin can get pretty messed up, depending on where you are riding in the driftless area. They have redone some important ones this past year, but some of ridges are.....let's just say best ridden on a supermoto haha
I had a 1969 Kawasaki. It was a direct rip off of a Royal Enfield. A clone if you will. I see Kawasaki is at it again here in 2024
I had not even heard of RE in 1969. I would have compared it more to a Triumph Bonnie.
It does look alot like the Royal Enfields. I actually haven't had the chance to ride an RE yet, hopefully soon! Thanks for checking out the video :)
The Triumph Bonnevilles are absolutely sweet machines :). I've been on a Thruxton, what a blast!
Search the history of the Kawasaki W series. It all started in 1966 with the W1 after Kawasaki took over the Merguro motorcycle company. Meguro made motorcycles using the BSA A7 engine design under license from BSA. In 1999 Kawasaki came out with the W650 a full year before the Bonneville. In 2011 they reintroduced as the W800. In 2019 they reintroduced it again as the W800 with stronger frame and forks. Disc brake on the rear, ABS braking system and better emissions to meet the stiffer Euro regs. It is true that it looks like a vintage British bike but in the 60s and 70s all bikes looked like British bikes. That's just what motorcycles looked like back then and, in my opinion, what a motorcycle should look like.
@@PastorMattMoto The new Triumphs are great motorcycles. Too bad they are made in Thailand or is it Taiwan. For me one of the draws of the W800 is the Japanese quality in materials and workmanship.
Do you still have this bike? I have an ‘04 955i SE, also from Baxter. Let me know if you ever want to sell…
Hey thanks for checking out the video! The 02 Speed Triple actually sold a little over a month ago, I've been riding my R Nine T more lately :).
Do you still own the ‘02 955i?
Hi again Kenneth, I responded on 02 Speed Triple video you commented on as well. The Speed Triple did sell, hoe do you like the 04 that you have? I think I liked the newer 1050's a bit better, but I have heard that the 955i's are really reliable machines :)
@@PastorMattMoto I love the bike. Nobody can do triples like triumph. Live in St. Paul area so have plenty of dealer support, but go to Marne every time
My Father in law has the exact same one from 2001 in the exact same color combination Blue/Silver. Everything is stock on it and has approx.=32.000KM. A true power Maschine this thing is and still goes over 300km/h like nothing...
This 01 still has a ton of grunt over 20 years later as well! The power really holds up! Now it doesn't exactly handle like a true sportbike, but it wasn't really made for that.
I have one, its a fantastic road bike, compliant but handles great, but not to twitchy, i love the fact it's anolog, no unnecessary gizmos
Having a pure motorcycling experience like this is basically impossible on the new bikes now@n other than some of Suzuki's line, like the GSXS 750, that still has a throttle cable, but you have ABS on those, so not truly analog. I think people sleep on these older Triumphs, they are a great cross of reliability, performance, and price :)
Got the same bike with a Beowulf system on it, looks, rides and sounds great. I had new springs on the front and rear was serviced, with some new Michelin Road 5’s, it transformed the bike…Some ACF 50 put on the engine also really sets it off.
Just picked my 2015 one in red with only 2k miles today fantastic bike would definitely recommend everyone to try one.
Wow that is an incredibly low mileage example!! Congrats!
i sold my r1150. i hated the gear ratios. bought an rt1200. night and day. fantastic upgrade. gear ratios are perfect. the 1150. ran like crap under 3000 rpm. the 1200 can be lugged down to 500 rpm and still pull.
I agree! I have an R Nine T now, it's also an oil head, but the power difference is huge compared to the R1150R! Now it is about 20 years newer, so not exactly a fair comparison, but there is a big difference. The R1150R is MUCH better distance bike though. Here's link to my R nine T first impressions, if you'd like to check it out :) ua-cam.com/video/iutLOR6Xn-w/v-deo.html
I've got my bike licence test here in the UK in a couple of weeks. And I've had my eye on this bike for a bit of time. I'm pretty set on one. Went to see one last weekend, and it felt great to sit on. It also has an original aftermarket Honda seat, which is an alacantra material, so that should help with that con. I feel all the people who say you shouldn't get a 1000cc bike for the first bike are mostly in America. Here we have numerous tests and training that you have to do in order to legally ride a motorbike. All of which makes you competent to ride any size bike. Thanks for the review, as there's not too much out there about these bikes.
Thanks for checking out the video on the CB1000R :). In the UK I thought there were a number of different CC licenses you had to step through before you could ride 1000cc machines on the road? Have you ridden bikes before?
@PastorMattMoto that's correct, up until a certain age. I'm old so I can do tests to allow me to ride any size bike.
Hello Pastor, I've been riding 50 + years now. I've gone thru 4 bikes the #4 bike is a 1976 H-D FXE, I bought new. I just bought the #5 bike 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator SE abs. I love this thing. I'm 70 years old now the H=D is getting to heavy . I liked your video I plan to catch more of them. Oh by the way, bike #3 was a new 1968 Kawasaki W-1 650 .
Thanks for checking out the video Barry! It sounds like you a had some fun machines :). I had a 2015 Harley Fat Bob a couple years back, so I know what you mean by heavy! The Eliminator is probably half the weight of most Harleys, it's pretty crazy.
I am 71 years old and have owned bikes since 1967. I just bought an Eliminator SE for $7000 out the door and LOVE it. It cruises around town great, it is one one the best cornering bikes I've ever owned. and will cruise at 70-75 all day long. (I did change the front spocket from a 14 tooth to a 15 tooth to lower the RPMs a bit. It lowered them by 500 without losing too much of the quickest. So all in all it does everything well. I sold my last Harley last Fall after paying $37,000 plus all the charges it was about $40,000. It broke down four times within the first year....bye bye Harley. With the Eliminator SE my insurance is $148 a year compared to my Harley which was $800 a year. The fuel mileage was 35 on my Harley. The Eliminator gets 66 MPG. I can't say enough good things about the Eliminator. After riding V-Twins since the 1990's I didn't want another V-Twin, I wanted the paraell twin for it's quickness and smoothness. The Eliminator SE is everything I wanted in a motorcycle. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL.
Hey Gene thanks for checking out the Eliminator video! Prices have gotten pretty crazy on Harleys haven't they? They are more than alot of cars at this point. The Eliminator is such an extremely nimble cruiser, it's a massive amount of fun, and it'll be reliable too. Those Kawasaki twins are pretty well proven at this point :) I would be interested to ride one with a sprocket change like yours, a little more midrange pull on these would be awesome!
@@PastorMattMoto I also bought a 38 tooth rear spocker and a master link. I might try them this winter, but right now I'm having too much fun. That's what riding a motorcycle should be FUN, My Harleys kept me riding but they were never what you call fun. If I change the rear spocket to a 38 tooth it might be geared too high at that point but I can always change the front spocket back to the 14 tooth and probably find some middle ground. The only reason I would even think about changng the rear spocket would be to make the Eliminator more of a highway bike for traveling. I think, but don't know , with the 38 tooth rear spocklet I would lose too much of the quick response the Eliminator has and therefore ruin a lot of the fun. But we never know until we try, That's why I bought both spockets, so I could play around with the grearing until I find what is best for me. That's also the reason i like bikes with chain drive. WIth shaft drive you are stcuck with what it comes with and with belt drive it's hard to find the parts needed to change the grear ratio,. I have changed the rear tire size before to a taller tire which helps a little. Any way, thanks for the reply, ride safe and enjoy every journey.
That is one of the nice things about a chain drive, ease of modification! Sure there is a little more maintenance, cleaning and greasing the chain each time you wash the bike, but if you are in to mods, it's so much easier like you said :) I haven't gotten into gearing changes much yet, but I'm thinking about changing the rear sprocket on my DRZ400 to get a little more punch in second and third gear....definitely has nothing to do with wheelies.... those can only be done on closed courses :p hehe
2008, thought I’d bought a bike with transmission issues because of the available power off the line. But same, after reading all about this very unique bike, the huge power that mates with a drive train / shaft, you’ve got to practice and almost learn how to ride it. Now it seriously is the fastest bike I’ve ever owned. 0 - 70 is nuts fast!!!
The M109R has to be one of the craziest cruisers ever made! Downshifting to take a turn at a stop is an event haha. You can feel the size of the motor at all times, it's a real beast!
I'm not sure what year your Triple is, but on my 2011 the pre-load factory setting is 7 turns clockwise from the fully anti-clockwise position. There are around 15 turns clockwise overall, so plenty of room for adjustment if you need it.
That Speed Triple was a 2013, there was quite a bit of adjustment, and it did make a difference on the road as well. I have a 2018 Street Triple 765 rs now, it's also a great machine, but the pull on the speed....I do miss it sometimes.
I love my 2023 black camo it’s a tuff little bike that unfortunately I have crashed a few times on it. But thankfully it was easy to fix and actually did some upgrades along the way.
Thanks for checking out the video :). It's incredible how light and tough these machines are, isn't it?
Nice review. Please give us more GSX-S content
Thanks for checking out the video!! I do have more GSX-S content shot and waiting to be edited!
Nice video. well edited and addressed what I wanted to know about the bike. Keep em coming
Thanks very much! I have some Supermoto content coming up soon, as well as a ride review of the 24 W800 :)
i just got one needs a lil work to get her road ready i cant wait for spring time to ride
Excellent! They are wild machines :)
I’ve watched hundreds of bike reviews and yours is fantastic. Thanks!
Thanks very much!! I just did a Ride Review on the 24 Kawasaki W800 as well, that one will be coming out in a few days :). I had a ton of fun riding that machine! Are you looking at buying an Eliminator?
@@PastorMattMotonot any time soon, but maybe someday!
Pastor I have a question for you… Would Jesus buy this as his first bike? ❤
This is a great question
Hey did you just assume my religion??? Just messing with you :p. I think Jesus could probably buy anything he wanted, since He is the Son of God, I'm pretty sure He could handle the ZH2 or a Hayabusa for His first bike :)
@@PastorMattMoto 😅 thanks pastor!
Anytime! :). Thanks for checking out the channel! I just did a First Ride on the Kawasaki W800 a couple days ago, so that will be coming out soon as well!
If Jesus wanted a bike that was pure fun to ride He'd buy an Eliminator.
Thanks for the video. I'm likely picking up an '07 for myself soon!
Nice! It's an incredibly nimble machine! I wish they would come down in price a bit, but such is sportbike life at the moment :p
