It works seriously my friend did this like 16 years ago and never started again. Im doing it now I keep a pack with me all the time and when I think about it I tell myself I'll have it in 10 minutes and get busy doing something else the cravings gets farther and farther apart and don't beat yourself up if you have couple puffs

"I tell myself I'll have it in 10 minutes and get busy doing something else,: I LOVE this! Great strategy! And I love that you said not to beat yourself up if you have a couple of puffs. SO IMPORTANT! Self compassion is everything!

I pinned your comment. I love your strategy of putting the craving off for ten minutes and doing something else. I think that can be very helpful to a lot of people. Thanks again!!!

Have you tried the natural patches they're pretty good the damn you smoke a pack a day I don't know if they'll work but it doesn't hurt to give it a try or hypnosis maybe cuz I used to be a heavy smoker when I was younger

My doctor told me to stop smoking immediately...but it seems kinda hard for me...i smoke a pack a day or maybe 14 sometimes...now i smoke only when i had my lunch or morning tea...that sums up to 4 or 5 a day.... hopefully i can quit eventually.

Its really all just a mind game. I am in my 70's and just quit after smoking for 50 yrs. Was really having a hard time breathing and just said F... IT. Wasnt even enjoying the smoking. Been 6 weeks now and havent even had a puff. But I do carry a pack inside my coat pocket. And I actually smile when I open the pack and there is still a full pack after all this time. I am amazed and hope I continue to be a non smoker as it is really disgusting and my breath and clothes would smell so bad....

I like the "keep cigarettes nearby." My husband smokes, so there's no way for me to quit and not have cigarettes nearby! The reality is that if you want them, you will go buy them anyway!

I've been trying to quit for 3 days but with each big craving I smoke again (2 to 3 per day) and it depresses me because I don't want to become a smoker again, this method has greatly encouraged me in my process, I'm going to continue and If it works I will leave you a comment, in any case thank you

    • @5-minuteBreakthroughs

I just want to say it's important to give yourself absolute self compassion and love as you're quitting. When things get hard, and you allow yourself to have a cigarette, don't get down on yourself. It's okay. Really, it is. Another thing to keep in mind is that change usually isn't a sudden thing. The brain likes to think in absolutes, in all or nothing thinking. In psychology it's called a cognitive bias and the brain has a lot of them! When you give in to a cigarette your brain probably says something like "See! You don't have enough willpower. You're never going to quit." But the thing is change is usually incremental, and not all at once. So go easy on yourself, and take it day by day. And don't worry if you give in to a craving. No big deal. Remember, change is a gradual process. You don't have to change all at once. Hope this makes sense. I'm proud of you by the way! And I can't wait til I read that comment about how you no longer smoke. Even if it takes awhile before you get there, but you will.

I quit smoking and I gained 140 pounds. I struggled with diets and exercise but I could not stop the weight from coming on. I went from a slim and trim 135 pounds all the way up to a big belly 275. That's right, I more than doubled my former body weight. My waist went from a 32 to a 50. I got a medical discharge from the navy for being obese and I lost my military retirement benefits. I developed severe sleep apnea and became a borderline diabetic. Had I known I was going to get fat like this, you best believe, I'd have never quit smoking. You're supposed to be rewarded for quitting smoking, not punished

the smoking less part has a little problem with the diagram. you don’t start counting what you smoke from the tip ( i’m that case when you say smoke just half- the image’s arrow is pointing farther back than it was before so, if you did it like how it’s described you’d smoke more)

Thanks for catching that! First of all, I want to say a HUGE thank you for watching the video. As a new channel I can use all the support I can get! So it means a lot to me that you took the time to watch. And a funny story, sort of. I actually caught that slip up, RIGHT AFTER I UPLOADED IT TO THE CHANNEL! I was like NOOOOOOOOO!!! I think it's too late to go back and fix it without having to delete the video from the channel first. If you know a way please tell me! But I think the point I was making still gets across even with the slip up. But there's a bigger lesson for me here. I'm a recovering perfectionist. Perfectionism always kept me from finishing things and putting my work out to the public but I've learned ways to overcome it. As a matter of fact my very first video is about overcoming perfectionism. In that video I caught a few mistakes, but I decided to keep them in to prove to myself that I can take action without having to be perfect. It's really freed me. But thanks again for pointing it out. And thank you for watching!

What? Cigarettes are cheep everywhere but my country! A pack of 20 Cigarettes is $44 in New Zealand. So a pack a day is over 16k per annum. And our dollar is not much less in value to the AUD, can't just blame the government as street value on illegal drugs are well spency too.
