This is a re-edit and reupload because the original video didn't get the copyright claim released :(((( So keep in mind that this video was meant to be after Paranorman during Spooktober HAHA
lmao they right about Casper being an awakening, when I was little the moment I saw Devon Sawa's face at the end I was hit by that feeling of "wow so beautiful", the first time for anyone.
I had my first gay crush. I even searched high and low for a copy of the movie "Now and then" (which is shit), just because he was in it.....and you saw his bum.....which in hindsight is a little weird considering his age (I was young then too fyi). Christina Ricci was in it along with a lot of others, she played one of the main characters but Devon less so.
I agree that she acts like a normal middle schooler, sometimes the characters are just too childlike? Or they're too mature. People forget that kids in middle school, sure are fresh out of elementary, but that's when a lot of them are exposed to certain things, that make their characters evolve and such.
James Horner (American movie composer who also did Titanic, Avatar, and Braveheart) gave this movie justice with this song. I literally just started to do a James Horner binge-listening and one of the songs of this soundtrack popped up on my spotify and I wanted to cry. Plus, I had the biggest crush on casper.
Just a side note A Spirited Beginning and Casper Meets Wendy are both prequels to this movie, not sequels. While Casper's Haunted Christmas and Casper's Scare School (the only fully CGI entries) are standalone films and don't have a specific place in the franchise's timeline.
And you know what I found interesting from the movie Casper a spirited beginning the company that help make it was actually saban The production that made Power Rangers and also an interesting thing there was an actress who played in a show it had: big bad beetle borgs And let’s not forget the other actress who In a shell we like that even tho it wasn’t from saban It was great to actually see a special guest star from Full house 🏠 Lori loughlin.🤗
Side note, A Spirited Beginning is NOT a prequel to the movie. It's essentially a rebooted timeline. The original movie and it's spinoff show in 1996 established Casper died of pneumonia at the age of 12 and lived with his parents and uncles in Whipstaff Manor in the town of Friendship Maine. And it's revealed in the show Casper is 112 years old (turns 113 in April,) which implies Casper died in 1895, 100 prior to the movie. When Casper died, he chose not to crossover so he could be with his grieving father. Which drove his father insane enough to make The Lazarus to resurrect him before he was sent away in an insane asylum and was eventually looked after by his uncles after Whipstaff became a lousy property 50 years later. In A Spirited Beginning, Casper is now 10, and died in present day of September 1997, and instead of looking after his father, he wakes up on a ghost train, not even knowing he's dead. Instead of Friendship Maine, it's Deeds Town, and the mansion isn't even Casper's nor the trio's (who aren't related in this version) and is now called The Applegate Mansion. And this and its follow up established witches and warlocks exist which the original movie never mentions at all. Saying A Spirited Beginning is a prequel to Casper '95 is like saying Batman Begins is a prequel to Batman '89, it's not. So in short, using the resources needed, Casper A Spirited Beginning and Casper Meets Wendy are NOT canon. It's a multiverse.
@@brandonspain12345 I was not aware that A Spirited Beginning was a reboot as I've only ever seen bits and pieces of Casper Meets Wendy. The only Casper movies I've watched in its entirety has been this one. BTW just because the original movie did or did not say witches and warlocks exist doesn't mean anything. Do you know how many prequels (that are part of film franchises) are out there that have rewritten canon for their sequel. A lot. Shoot there are sequels that rewrite earlier movies. Take for example Star Trek V. It introduced a brother for Spock despite all through out the Original Series and the first four movies there was never mention of a brother for Spock. Or take the prequel Star Trek: Discovery, it introduced Spock's adopted sister, despite again she never being named in any other Star Trek series or movies. Take for example the Star Wars prequels, they are riddled with anomalies that rewrite canon for things seen in the Original Trilogy. Can we say midichlorians? Just because the original film does not mention something does not mean much if a prequel (set in the same universe, which again I didn't know A Spirited Beginning was a reboot, which technically says its not a prequel unless the studio said otherwise) introduces something.
Casper: a spirited beginning and Casper meets Wendy are connected to each other but are not connected to the original 1995 film, actually. They were advertised as such in hopes of bringing in a bigger audience but there are many contradiction between the films, in a spirited beginning the movie starts with Casper having just died and finding out he's a ghost, with his uncles being dead long before him and actually adopting him after he stand up to kibosh instead of being his biological uncles, like in the 1995 film, to name one :) (and yes they are his biological uncles in 1995, as Casper shows Kat a photo of the four of them together when they were alive, although the clip was cut from the film you can still find it in the Casper 1995 art/production book that they released)
you know my favorite of this movie beside the romance scene with Casper and Kat was the scene where Casper, kat and Harvey were about to head up to the party But then Harvey says, uh 🙄 Where are we and The reason why that was my favorite part was because after the adventure they day been through Now came the funny part where the character that wasn’t with them and was somewhere else not knowing what’s going on while he was gone just realizes He don’t know how he got there and After what harvey said would’ve Made Kat had to say it’s a long story.😄
I’m dying! You reacted the same way my brother and I reacted at the commercial. It was so “90s news report” like. And that’s our childhood I was born ‘89💀
12:09 Imagine the joy of eating whatever you want and not having it affect your body! 😭😍 Kind of a positive side to the idea of being a ghost after you die even if it isn't actually a thing.
Literally one of my favorite “Halloween” movies from my childhood - I remember my dad taking me to see Casper IN THEATRES when I was like, 6 lol, and me being literally obsessed. My brothers went and saw like Batman or something and I went and learned about LOVE lmao God and I remember being SO scared of the Crypt Keeper in the mirror part! Is this the root of my love of horror???
OH MY GOD YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT MY COMFORT MOVIE WAIT A DAMN MINUTE!!!!!!!!!! this movie means SO MUCH to me and it really molded me into the ghost x human love story obsessed person I AM!!!! I can't wait to watch this!!!!
No lie, I was 100% in love with Devon Sawa after this. Definitely an awakening, lol. I had this on VHS and watched it all the time, and like a total nerd, sat there and sang the song that they danced to and quoted it. 🤓 The hormones… lol 😂
Not sure if anyone's said this but the kid actor Devon Sawa credited as "casper on screen" went on to play the title role of Stan in the iconic Eminem music video
i looooved this movie so much as a kid. in the latin american dubbed version when casper goes "can i keep you?" they changed it to "would you stay with me?" it made me emotional every time
I’m sorry you couldn’t get the claim released but I’m so excited for this! I’ve loved Casper for so long and when I saw the original upload I was so hype, but I felt so bad that it got snapped out of existence so fast! Thanks for reacting to this though, you’ve made my heart happy today
Casper : Cinderella got until midnight Cat's mum : Cinderella wasn't 12 years old Me : Yeah.. giving that it took place in a medieval/Renaissance time... she must totally have been 14 years old...
Oh, it's a reupload? I guess that's okay. It still has beautiful music by the late James Horner. I even watched his recording sessions yesterday for Avatar, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Perfect Storm and Braveheart.
This movie is one of the best live-action adaptations of a kids show I know, just like the 2002’s Scooby-Doo movie and the Fairly OddParents one, because something that many other ones fail to do is putting everything that makes the original story so special together that the fans will actually enjoy, we can feel they really put their hearts to it, you just compare with the other Casper live-action movies that came after this one, they were fun but they were nothing close of how wholesome and deep this 1995 was, they just used the reality filter with stories that they didn’t put so much effort at doing that’s why they weren’t as remarkable
This is one of these movies that you watch over and over again, and then you grow up and completely forget that you've seen it. Thank you !, this movie brings back memories. It got me emotional; When I was young I was like the girl, wanting a ghost as friend, and now all grown up, I am like the father, dang. btw, I never knew this got a second one. I barely remember a movie about Casper and a little witch, but never really seen it. or is it another movie?. Gonna find out this weekend.
My theory as to why Casper can't crossover even after his fathers death is that he's a very special kind of ghost. Everyone is put on this earth for a reason and Casper was so sweet and friendly in life that the mortal realm could not bear to be parted from his memory when he died so young. Instead of being stuck with "unfinished business" he has a new lease on life (or should I say afterlife) of spreading friendship as a spirit.
I don't think I've ever actually heard people I know say the ending scenes in Casper were their sexual awakening? They are sweet tho & I can see it, ig. Most people I know have said that the 2003 live action Peter Pan was their sexual awakening lol.

Same.
My favorite line from this film…
“Drop dead!” 🤬
“Too late!” 🤣
Kat's mom T-posing in and out of the scene is hilarious!
the ‘can i keep you’ scene makes me sob it’s so so sad :(
