She’s absolutely right; I’ve heard from many sources that flooding/improper drainage is an issue. So it makes sense that it would cost a bit more because things are up to code (when normally, they aren’t). I agree with u sis!
No.1 apartment house was the nicest. Mrs. Yarbro is gorgeous by the way. Great job Mr. Yarbro!
Yes, my wife is and thank you!
@@TheYarbros you welcome!
number 1 was the clear winner, and the one i'd take.
Yes, that was a sweet apt. CC tv door/ parking lot camera, washer/ dryer, kitchen fully stocked w/ new appliances... and A+ management....all the things we didn't show. It was stellar!
I've had a passport for at least 30 years but I can't wait to leave Texas
I'm glad it as included. It gives us the opportunity to view it ALL. The good the bad and the ugly. Loves the video excellent gob with that. You guys are an amazing couple enjoy your vibe immensely. Stay sweet 'n buena suerte en todo.
Thanks! We have some colonial homes in Mérida we viewed as well, we'll go ahead and release that video soon.
Hubby is right on this one sis

I really appreciate you guys approach with sharing information. I don't feel hassled to make a purchase. There's no paid subscription to gain access to content. And you guys give without expecting to gain something in the process. What boggles me is your videos are easy to follow, they're entertaining, the energy is perfect and your reviews are transparent. I'd like to say (as if I hadn't said enough already) thanks a million... and she's always right. Even when she's wrong, she's right 🤷♂️....
How are things coming along for you in GDL?
You're right! She's always right! Really happy to hear from you and we appreciate your props. Our desire is to do exactly what you stated 💯 . Bring value, entertainment and illumination to our subs w/o all the #extra...also glad you caught our vibe and are riding along!
@@TheYarbros 👍👍👍
I LOVE the first place. I love the light colors. All the other units I have found have that darker color wood which I am not a fan of.
Yeah, we loved the 1st one too...... a lot!
Omg, I can’t believe how cheap these apartments are! I’m considering Merida and Puerto Vallarta! I’m trying to hold out 5 more years due to my work situation. Thanks for sharing❤️
Thank you, we're glad you like the vid and yes housing is cheap here.
Thanks for including the last house 😊
I am already here in Merida, Mexico... Yes! Started my search yesterday and this youtube is very helpful. I can only imagine what is out here in Merida. So far, I can say Centro Merida is nice, historical, food, and quiet for the most part. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to make a visual of Merida's renting and the information you provided for me to help with my search. I am definitely keeping my eyes open for something nice and affordable either here or at some other location.
Hey!!! Glad you are settling in and finding your way around. We hope you enjoy that culturally rich and beautiful city!
I’m glad you included it - just to see it. I do appreciate both options.
Love your content! I am working on a timeline to get to Mexico soon
Small apt for 328 usd would work for a single retiree like me. More money to travel. Thanks for info.
Loved this video, very insightful and still has my mouth on the floor about the quality of life I can get for my buck!! Will be staying tuned
Please do and thank you. Yes, quality of life is great in Merída and on the cheap! Buttt its hot as hells kitchen. 😆
Are you guys going to do a video for house hunting in Guadalajara? I really like your videos guys!!
Thank you! And yes - we're documenting our experience now to share soon.
i’d get the last one tbh so i’m glad you showed it! Rent we pay here is almost 2k so $800 sounds like a dream lol.
I appreciate how detailed this video was especially the details in the description. You left no room for confusion or need for questions which is 👌🏾👌🏾!! Thank you guys!
Glad you liked it... we're just trying to shine some light!
hahaha! I am glad you included it, it is good to see ALL the homes and I appreciate both of your informed opinions on it!!
We're glad that you took the tour. There are a ton of different options available in Merida. Thanks for stopping by!
I'm just an old retired Army white guy from Texas but yall are awesome people. Thank you for your videos
Thank you for your service, compliments and for riding along on our journey!
It was supposed to be something funny in this crazy time
@@jamesadavis822 and it was funny! Thanks for the contribution!
I loved the first house you showed. ❤ Thank you.
let her speak!!😀. I like the layout of the last house... but not at that price. I think the house in Las Americas was nice. I really don't like the windows in these homes. I like large windows which allows a lot of natural light. Pricing was good i think.
Thank you both for sharing.
Yeah, I (Rondel) like large windows too! Our current home has them but its so hot here we keep them covered during the day....Thanks for checking in!
Pretty freaking awesome!! I just subscribe you guys are showing some beautiful looking apartments. Oh and I love the music! 👌
I'm with you all the way my man I would let you pick out a place for me as a single man any day of the year thanks a lot for the informative videos I am moving to Mexico very soon. Go Eazy 😉⛵
Please add some reputable realtors to the list, especially the ones you used. Thanks
ppl have different tastes so always good to show things you dont personally like
Thank you!
More affordable options than usually shown in Merida. That small one would even be fine for me.
Too hot in Merida for me though but never say never.
Thanks for the tour!
Thanks for watching....too hot for us too!
Thanks so much for making these videos!! Our family is seriously considering making the move after this school year (we have four little boys ages 10 and under) and it’s great to see current updates about what it’s like down there. Keep up the good work! You guys are awesome 😁
We appreciate the love! We're glad you found it useful. Wishing you and your family the best this school year and in your upcoming move!
I’m glad you showed the last one, it made the other ones look like really good deals. 😂. We lived in Guadalajara for 2 years. Loved it. Looking at Merida now. How does it compare to south Florida, as far as heat do you think?
Was happy to see the last one too. That pool would be worth it for me. In Hawaii virtually no one has a pool and $800 is unheard of here even for a room. 🤷🏽♀️ I’d take it.
Thanks for your take :-) You can find several homes with small pools here. I had no idea about pricing in Hawaii!
Yeah, Hawaii prices are stupid. Probably worse than NYC and the Bay Area.
I like Rondel's red bandana look❤
obsessed with y'all! thanks for paving a way for the rest of us!
You're too kind🤗 Thanks for following our journey! Trails of blackness 😆✌🏾
I’m only 5 minutes in Wow!! One for $328!!! And that looks like a decent area to me. I’m from the ghetto in Boston place called Dorchester just south of the city.. Everything‘s over 1000 matches over 2000 and this is in a bad neighborhood. I am single that would be perfect for me. I am considering Mexico but Mérida just looks so hot!
That area is very nice. Its between an upscale mall and a Costco. You hit the nail on the head regarding heat...after being here a year,, its too hot for us. We are moving to Guadalajara next week I fact.
Hello guys you make me laught every time interesting houses I plan to retire in Guadalajara n rent budget of $200 dls a month 2 more years I’m out of here can’t Waite to see your video in Guadalajara Chao amigos besos
Great plan...we can't wait to get there...🤫
Much of the Las Americas area was under water during the rainy season of 2020. Depending on that particular place, you may have been better off where you ended up. We live in Progreso. Great videos, thanks! (Anne)
Yeah, we had some people there who really went through it! Thanks for checking out the content!
I agree with the gentleman. Be frugal. Don't waste unnecessary money. Enjoy your videos. Lease kee showing more especially in quiet areas outside of city areas that are affordable. Thank you.
Thanks for watching. We hope you find what you're looking for!
Thanks for this video and for including the last apt...yes it's high rent bit some folks can pay that which is bad because the more folks who pay higher rents eventually all the rents will increase which doesn't help out the real local folks, but I'm sure the up side is all the dollars folks living there are spending so it also helps their economy. Hu6and I want toove so much but I still have 5 yrs to retire!😱 But with all the crap happening here in the states we might just make the move next year and just go for it....that's info van find an online job that pays me at least half of what I currently male in order to be able to support ourselves. Cant wait to see your new videos, safe travels.
Thanks! We're glad you liked it. We have a couple of colonial homes we looked at in Merida maybe we'll push those out too🤷🏾♀️. Stay safe and thanks for watching g our channel!
Thanks for including it...still prefer the other ones though.
Thanks for watching!
Oh wow!! Look at our place on there! 💜
I get what your hubby was saying about the house…..yes for that amount $$$…. You can do way better….what would have been great was to show a comparison of a better one so that your subscribers could see the difference…. Maybe a 2nd video would be a good way to inform and thanks this video did help me because I’m here right now checking things out…. Also providing rental agents contact information would be an awesome way for folks like me to find housing 👍🏾😎💃
Came across your channel when my wife and I were reminiscing about our trip to Merida. I love how you two live your lives! Long term travel definitely comes with its downsides (feeling like an outsider, not being close to family if an emergency happens, etc) but there are so many benefits that far outweigh (or at least soften) the cons.
Thanks for feeling our channel out. There are definitely ups and downs but for now wanderlust supercedes all of the challenges. Can't wait to find a place to call home but until then....😃
Great video, like how you show the neighborhood and the properties.
Thank you we try to keep it interesting!
@The Yarbros Hey!!! How are you all doing? So I have been here in Merida for about 3 weeks now and I am trying to figure things out and it is really nice to have your videos to refer back too. I really appreciate your transparency and your willingness to share information to help people (you don't hide the information). Thank You, guys!!! Yes! Yes! I did come out lol.
Yessss excellent video. So helpful and right on time for my move.
Oh really! Thats whats up! Glad we could be a little help fam! Congratulations on the big move and safe travels!
I’m with the hubs, last one is a NO GO!
I was glad you showed the last place!!! It shows us the comparisons to the lower priced ones. Thanks. I do agree that over $800 is ALOT when there was only the washer/dryer. That owner is trying to get 'someone' to take that offer and 'believe' they are getting a 'deal'..possibly????
Yea, "gringo-pricing" is a real thing. Someone will (someone already has) gladly pay that price. It's a great property but when you've explored the housing stock you get a feel for value.
Thank you much!!!
Glad it was helpful!!!
Love the rest of the video. Please show us something when you get to Guadalajara. I’m thinking it’s a bit cooler there. By the way cool vibe you guys got. Easy to watch. I’m digging your videos! Thanks
Thanks and I'm glad you like the vibe! We'll definitely take you guys on the apt. hunt w/ us! See you soon!
Very nice video. Foreign country I stay in City to live..find things to do on the weekend farther out.
I loved the last apartment I’m so very glad that you added it. It brought some class to the list. Some of your viewers are retired and would like to enjoy spending their hard earned money being that this is the last chapter of their lives. Hubby please stop being so cheap!
😁 I'm glad youliked it! We'll show some colonial homes for you soon. I'll work on my cheap tendencies 😉. Thanks for staying until the end.
@@TheYarbros I’m so glad you weren’t offended by my comment thank you so much for listening and I’ll be waiting to see those videos.
As soon as I get my passport, I'm putting my house up for rent and moving to work remotely from mexico
Me too
Aye!!! Best wishes and get that passport 😄
I'm already selling off things now and preparing my move in April. C u there.
If I may ask, what work do you do remotely?
@@ReginaldLCurry23 I will mainly be doing development gigs, and maybe teaching? My boss won't let me keep my current job and move abroad unfortunately
Y'all are wonderful all your videos are very informative thanks!!
Love the apprecuation! Thank youyou and thanks for watching!
thanks guys, really appreciate all the hard work you guys do!!!
Thank you! We enjoy putting in the work on! 💪🏾
I really liked the first one!😂
We did too!
I can’t get over how beautiful y’all are! Imma stop saying it eventually but all I see is love. Y’all are like a painting! 😭😭❤️❤️.
Oh yeah and the houses are GORGE!!
Naw...keep all that coming we LOVE it and thank you!
The Yarbros facts! 😇💕
Hi guys.Love the apartments. And the prices. Yeah Mérida was my first choice. But I’m from Boston, can’t take the heat. I’m looking at condos with an older sister in Florida January . Gonna fly to Guadalajara alone after. January 19th. Don’t know where to begin. Hope this Corona crap 💩 ends soon. I don’t wanna be directly in a big city but don’t wanna be to far out. I think I would enjoy a busy Mexican village. Shopping gym etc. Any suggestions ? 🤔
Thank you 🙏🏾
I agree with the gentleman. 18000 pesos. No way
Great info!
I think it was good to include house 5, because the comments on mold and water damage is on top of my "concerns list" when arriving in Mérida next month to house hunt..
How frequent is the mold/water damage issue when you've been searching houses in Mérida, and is there any specific areas or other things you would recommend to check out or avoid to reduce the risk of getting a house (or neighbourhood) with the issues of mold/water damaged building ..?
Nice vid.
.very informative
Cool happy you could get something out of it! Enjoy the day!
Hey..why are you guys leaving..those prices are great..i was going to look you up when i visit..im looking to move to San Carlos but Merida is really nice! Will visit there before i make final decision. You guys really make it hard..!
Yeah, we like Merida but we've been here for a yr. a d we're just ready to see and experience more of Mexico...hopefully we can meet up along the way somewhere!
OMG I am preparing my leave of Macon ga. Wow. So glad I found you guys. Thank you. I subscribed n hit notification. Hopefully u guys can help me make my transition via assistance finding a place. Blessings
I know this an older comment but I'm from Macon also
@@atlbunnie Hi. I love Macon. Clothes designer from NY. I am now back in nyc for two years. I will be heading back to macon by then. My name is Nydja. Nice to meet you.
Great info and you two are a hoot. Gracias!
De nada! Glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed watching this!! Looking to move to Mexico soon so this helps.
Excited for your move and we are happy if this helps you...all we wanted to do.
You guys are great!! As for the last house I see both sides so I’m neutral!!😂
Thanks for watching and weighing in!
Can you guys do a video about teaching online such as companies, requirements and your experiences ? I would love to be able to live abroad.
What's the best areas from singles who are still trying to have a good time?
We were planning to do one on VIPKID, we can definitely add general information about other esl companies.
Centro is a good area for singles, at least before covid. Hopefully as things returns to normal, so will the vitality.
Well, let's just say that I prefer the bang for my buck. So, if I can get a whole lot more, show me the whole lot more. :)))) lol.
I love you guys. Keep doing your thing!!!
Excellent video team! Very helpful for our upcoming transition to Merida. Especially the lessons learned which has been on our mind as to city versus a place outside.
Do you shop at all at the large markets for fresh fruit/veg or prefer to go to the typical grocery store like we have in the states?
God bless you both and be safe.
Thanks for the feedback! There's always a lesson to be learned and we've racked up a few lol.
We typically prefer to shop at markets but there aren't too many in our part of town. It's easier to just go to a grocery store. But you'll be able to find daily and weekly markets around Merida.
Stay safe!
Looking forward to your Guadalajara adventures. Talking about Turkey last conversation got me motivated. Booked a flight a few days ago. Leaving in a week lol. Safe travels my friends.
Right back at you! Be safe out there! Nothing beats the thrill of traveling.
I just saw this video. Great info. Thank you!
We're glad you liked it hope the information is helpful!
The 18000 was dope, but I want to see this monster house for 18000 pesos too LOL
this is great ya'll! Plese, Tell us about internet reliability. Looking forward to hearing about your next adventure.
The internet is strong and fast. There are brownouts on occasion here that don't last long. We teach online daily simultaneously for the past year and haven't had an issue.
I’m not stuck on Guadalajara. But The temperature is a bit cooler from what I hear. 😅🤷♂️
Hey there Yarbros! So what do they normally ask for in a deposit or to move in? Thank you for your informative and awesome videos with great vibess! Just found your channel. I am just researching since I will be able to work remotely with my own business really soon. Keep the videos coming! Blessings!!
Hey! In our experience, here's what most realtors/owners ask for: 1 month rent, 1 month contract/ lawyer’s fee (can negotiate to reduce...this is the cost of the notary where you sign the contracts at .. aka the lawyer’s office), 1 month deposit if you have an 'aval' (a guarantor) or 2 months if you have no aval.
Hey guys why are guys moving? Your last house was amazing. I have to say. I am in love with that house in Las Americas. Is it still available? I wish you guys well on the new home.
Hey, we've gotten this question a lot, lol. We slow travel - our goal is to experience and live in different places around the world until we find 'the one.' Typically, we stay in one place for 6-12 months at a time. Merida has actually been the longest we've ever stayed in one place. On to the next for us! I'm not sure if the house in Las Americas is still available but I'm sure plenty others are! There were a lot of 'se renta' signs in that area.
Thank you for your response and time. Im sure you two will love your next location for you love each other and people. Best wishes can not wait for new updates. Be safe and well. Blessed travels😊

Thank you for subbing!
very informative. subscribed.
Glad you liked it and thanks for the sub!
I LOVE the ladt House as well. Thanks for including it because it gives me other options and ideas just in case I want to purchase to make it a rental! I Retire at the end of 2021 and plan on moving somewhere abroad. Can you all suggest a WEBSITE to look at Available Homes on?
Glad you liked it. There was another for the same price that was close to Centro and looked much better we left before doing a video for it. But investment wise. It's hard to go wrong in Mérida. Thanks for watching!
Thank you again for a wonderful and informative video. As I watch your videos, I realized that I am too much of a chicken to travel to Mexico by myself!! :) :) LMAO Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see you guys on your next adventure!
We understand, but if you wanted to try though, Merida is one of the safest places in Mexico!
@@TheYarbros I love you guys!! Thanks! I can't wait to see your next adventure.
Please come and live the Tulum experience 🥰
So glad you showed the last one! It's what I'm paying now in Texas. But, if it's closer to the beach, that's what I want and so it would be worth it to me. How close to the beach is it? Any idea/info on how much it would cost to ship my car there? can you drive to Merida by car from Tx? Thanks!
LVNCSR I saw a few online that were beach front houses around that price the website I saw them is from Casamerida.mx and a different video from another expat mentioned she would have to pay around $800 to ship her car to Mérida but didn’t mention where or how
thank you!!!
I agree that it was too much for the last one!! I love the first apartment. Could you please give the name of the real estate person. We wanted to be in a place where you can hang out and do stuff.
All of the agencies are listed at the end of the video and the agents numbers are in the description all of the are reputable. We went through about 15 and those were the ones to make our list.
But. But. But. The last one had a Private POOL! The others didn't. I'd rather see the good, the bad & the ugly.
All good. I had another house in mind for the same cost but MUCH more suitable we left Merida before doing a video for it.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Are the moving fees and expenses similar to the US? Application fees, required deposits, etc?
We experienced 1 month deposit, 1 month contract/lawyer fees, and another month deposit with a guarantor *local co-signer* (2 months if you don't have one)
🦋🦋🦋@theyabros this is absolutely ah'mazing. Thank you for sharing. I've really been thinking about relocating and your videos have inspired me. Do any of the apts/houses have tubs and if you can't drink the water; where do you get water from?🦋🦋🦋
Tubs are rare but they are there if you house hunt and you can always have one installed. Before covid there were multiple water houses in a neighborhood. Now there are a multitude of water delivery services to use.

Great video love the information we are really considering moving to Mexico distractify the right location thank you for your information, Could you recommend a realtor I don't want to get scammed,
Peace and blessings
Hiiiiii! Thank you so much for this video tour, very nice Apts. I would like to know, have you come across any of the units with a bathtub? Thank you!
We haven't but you might be able to buy one and have it installed.
Nicely affordable wished they had safety rails for the upper stairs including the pool love that the area is quiet has some English speaking expats but the humidity & smoothering 🔥 Temps is NO for me I would be uncomfortable with that probably explains one reason ppl regularly move again the rental prices are amazing the huge savings YES!!! Hey guys thks for the vid tours just sub! 😉💖
Everything looks good but can you guys please show homes instead of apartments think you so much♥️
We have a couple of awesome colo I'll homes we'll create a video for soon.
Hey awesome infos thank you. Where did you stay the first few days or weeks upon arrival in Mexico until you found the place ? Ty
Thanks for making this video! Are there many 1 bedroom options available? What are the prices you've seen?
Lots of 1 bdrms and even more cute studios. Fully furnished run from 3,000 on up depending on the different variables. One comparable to the ones in the video run 4 - 6,000 pesos.
@@TheYarbros thanks! How long are the rental terms, usually? Wishing you two luck and health in Guadalajara!
@@EducatingAbroad most companies ask for a min. of 6 months and some ask for a 12 month lease.
Great video! I'm upset that we couldn't find anything this nice in SE Asia for these prices..lol
Also can I have the name or your lady realtor? We will be landing on the 2nd and want to hit the ground running before the winter birds flock.
We loved the prices in SE Asia although the spaces were smaller. In Merida, we used Lillian with Casa Merida casamerida.mx/home. We've also heard really great reviews about Barbara from Merida Moves facebook.com/Meridamoves (she helps with transitions, neighborhoods tours, and house hunting)>
@@TheYarbros Thank you so much!
@@TheYarbros YES, Barbara is great, shes helping me with my move.
I loved the first one!!! Out of curiosity what are their typical requirements for renting? How do they check how one can pay? Also what is their deposit usually?
Generally, you provide proof of income by way of bank statements or pay stubs for up to 3 months and pay; 1 month rent, one month deposit, a lawyer's fee (of about 6,000 pesos). You also pay an additional month up front if you do not have someone in Merida who will vouch for you (cosign). You sign the lease at a lawyers office and review the entire lease agreement there. To alleviate the cosigner fee you can offer to pay 2 or 3 months upfront. You can also check my boy SKP's video: ua-cam.com/video/s6vUq_Wpv98/v-deo.html for some tips to rent a place here in Merida - very informative remember #cashisking
@@TheYarbros thanks for that info! I will look at the link. Thanks!
Any apartments/ houses with bathtubs? #requirement
Good luck finding that! Homes rarely have bathtubs here
Bath tubs...can be purchased and installed (I believe) but they don't generally come with homes in Mérida.
Where online can I find a house for 18,000MXN In Mérida?
Check the description box for this video. We included the links to the realtor companies from the video and a few other great ones to get you started with your online house hunt.
I know you guys are long gone from merida but if you get this, did any of these apartments take pets??? Thanks once again.
We don't know specifically but Mérida is very pet friendly. You can contact the agents w/ the info in the description. Happy hunting!
THANKS FOR WRITING BACK, MISS YOU GUYS!!
Why did you choose Merida over say Puerto Vallarta? Could you feel good drink your Tesla there? Can Charging be added to your home? Are there any Tesla’s there?
We no longer reside in Mérida and we're not sure about charging stations. 🤔
18,000 pesos is way to expensive. I know, I lived in Gdl for 10 yrs.
Yeah, its expensive... especially for Mérida but to a lot of people its just pennies.. (we are not those ppl... yet lolz) but we keep them in mind.
