    Great comparison, thanks. The Duke of Tone is the perfect overdrive pedal for me! I use 2 Duke of Tone pedals, one for crunch sounds, the other for lead sounds. Both on on the sun doesn't go down anymore! I use the boost setting for top dynamics and transparency on both Duke of Tone pedals!

    For me, the Toxic Twins pedal was the winner... It fattened up the tone far beyond the others. That would be an amazing pedal running into a fuzz box. It'll be the closest that telecaster will ever sound to a Les Paul. Well, I guess I'm going to shop for a Firebird... Thinking about tone while watching this video reminded me of a firebird's tone.

    The Duke of Tone and the Toxic Twins are so close for me. I think I prefer the Duke of Tone as it sounds like a more transparent overdrive. I don't need the extra colour that the Toxic Twins adds so *Duke of Tone wins!*

    Thanks to your demo I am going to buy the Toxic Twins. I have never heard it before, but your impressions live are exactly the same from me listening through headphones: the Toxic Twins doesn't feel like a pedal, it's so natural and organic that it sounds just like part of the amp.

    I think BB preamp may be the best sounding KOT-pedal without being a KOT-pedal. It has the dynamics, overtones and mid bite if you set it right 😃👍

  • @GitShiddy

    For me based solely on tone preference it was. 1. Duke of Tone 2. King of Blues 3. Toxic Twins 4. Pantheon. The last two had a specific "edge" to the tone (something in the mids no doubt) that sounded like they were "mixed/mastered" with the Pantheon sounding a bit 80s & the Toxic Twins a bit 90s. The Duke & the king sounded the most old(?) natural(?) but the Duke was more full fidelity than the king.

    I've often heard people on UA-cam and online forums saying the Tone City King of Blues is a poor man's version of the King of Tone - I guess it's understandable given the name. However, I have a King of Blues and it's quite a different animal. Sure the King of Blues and King of Tone are dual overdrive pedals - but that's where the resemblance ends. The left hand drive on the King of Blues has a Tubescreamer type sound while the right hand drive sounds like a Klon.

    Nice demo interesting many commentedthat they thought the TT had a little fuller sound, I wonder if they noticed the Pantheon had bass and mids off. This gave a closer tone for but thinned out the tone. I generally have wide bass at 3 o'clock and treble add about 11. The Pantheon has one of the widest tone ranges in the blues breaker/KOT lineup.

    Absolutely exactly the tones, that gets me going. As it cost like 2 cups of coffee, Im really considering getting it, just for the LOLs.

    The Toxic Twins not only sounds amazing - I'm guessing you had it on hard-clipping mode - but also has the best price point.
    For the same price of the Pantheon or the Duke of Tone, you also get a great TS to stack with the BB side.
    I welcome the duke of tone but i'm sticking with the TT for my BB needs.
    Cheers.

      Assuming the pictures of the pedal show the settings he was using... he never turned the presence up to get a similar enough tone to the other pedals at the similar settings. It’s kind of a unique feature of the pantheon that helps you tailor it to different setups, but it can drastically change the sound in comparison to pedals without it if you just leave it down. Really a great pedal as are all wamplers really.

    All good, all different. The Duke basically IS the Prince of Tone, and even if it's only 99% the same, it's close enough for me. Good job dialing in the pedals, such as the Pantheon, where the Presence should usually be all the way down, but it's there if your setup lacks a bit presence highs. The Kasleder was a surprise, as it was "warmer" on the current settings, with rolled off highs, but didn't sound muffled, and was really good at higher gain settings in this rig. I'd probably pick the Duke of Tone out of the 4.

    King of Blues has nothing in common.
    A is a klon style drive with no treble tone boost while B is it’s own fat/warm drive.
    A drive worth trying out, found that it sounded better than a KoT in combination with certain pedals, besides that it can’t get as harsh with the tone as a Klon when using single coils.

    • @StratTones
      @StratTones 11 місяців тому +1

      I’ve had every sought after overdrive pedal the last 27 years of playing and today I got my 3rd King of Blues and had to try it again. It smokes the whole lot and it’s all I’m running fort drive section. People can look and judge all they want, but my ears work pretty damn good and the texture, harmonics and clarity of side b and the versatility of A or A and B together is unmatched! I’ve owned 4 King of Tones, a Klon I ordered when I was 17 from Bill Finnegan and everything else you can image. Well stated above my friend

    • @JoeBaermann
      @JoeBaermann 11 місяців тому

      Yup, it is a steal for the money if one needs a descent klon sound together with an overdrive that pushes them low mids.
      Especially if one doesn’t like Tubescreamers and drives that push hard on highs.
      I would say that the KoB can be used for anything really, since treble/presence can be pushed on the amp side if needed.
      It can also help in making some fuzz and distortion pedals shine.
      I did setup a board for a friend where we went through 30 drive and 10 fuzz pedals aiming for a good sound for blues and classic rock, most of his other pedals are boutique pedals, KoB won, sounded best to our ears with humbuckers and was the most pleasant to use with an 3SS strat.
      We tested trough 3 amps, AC30, Orange RV and some old Tesco amp.
