Pretty cool. They’ve incorporated the same technology into my fishing kayak. Unless I somehow develop synchronized, repetitive shoulder, torso and forearm spasms, it’ll stop dead. It just takes me a wee bit longer to cross the water...
Smooth early morning water, boat up on a plane as you glide to your favorite fishing spot... suddenly there is a large tree snag directly ahead of you! You swerve the boat in a violent effort yet unsuccessful attempt to avoid it, the momentum of the turn throws you to the side followed by the sharp upward thrust of the hull bouncing off the half submerged log, forcibly ejecting you into the water... And as you bob there, treading cold water, you watch your boat continue its glide through that smooth water, heading towards the unknown without its operator. You suddenly wish you had a life jacket on, and the kill switch connected to it. But now, its too late.
We have a lot of lakes like this in NC and it’s been even worse this year with Covid and the lakes have been packed. I’ll pay 10 to launch at a city lake to avoid the crowds
Awesome Public Safety video. You guys should do a video specifically on boat safety, explaining how and when kill switches work. And tell your viewers what other safety equipment is required using your own boats as a demonstration. A simple Show and Tell safety video might save someone's life in the future. There are many many new boat owners and operators each year and there can never be too much safety training.
Much respect and gratitude to you and your partner for sharing this. It is so very important for all of us to practice the safety measures you have perfectly highlighted, and explained, here. This should be shared with the younger generations of future boaters. Thank you sincerely. Troy; Scott,LA

Wearing the Kill Switch Cord is not a fashion statement. It's the law in most states
I live in Mississippi and we are a "by god" state. As in, "By god I won't be told what to do by anyone." Passing such a law would be a waste of time here.
Great video. Im sure you guys want to keep the channel focused on its purpose and not "vlogging" but would be really cool to see your travel setups with the RV, content like this with interesting things you come across, little bit of off the cuff fishing footage, etc. Don't get me wrong the tutorials and tackle reviews are awesome, best there are honestly, but interesting to see some more about your travels as well. Maybe some opinions on if a family had 1 week to vacation your opinion of location, lake/resort, etc. Just a thought. Keep it up. Tight Lines.
Hey Matt...You have a link to Rapala wire cutters. Are those wire cutters strong enough to snip a hook or split ring if you get a hook embedded in a finger/hand? I've seen some nasty hook-in-hand videos so I want to be prepared if that would happen to me. Thanks.
Glad to see no one got hurt. This could have easily been fatal. We’ve had a couple of bad accidents this year in Tennessee where boats have went over dams too. Everyone please stay safe!
And what about the dude that jumped in the boat to stop it. If he had lost his grip the motor would have gotten him. All kinds of Errors going on here.
@@billstahlhood1957 Obviously from Tennessee? If anyone has been out on a Tennessee reservoir, you have seen countless numbers of idiotic incidents by careless or dumb boaters. You see it everywhere, but you see it a bunch in Tennessee. Don't know why, but you do...
Body shaming these women and asking how they would get out of the water should not have been addressed by some of you trolls. Rather, send encouraging reminders to always use the kill-switch. When were kill switches mandatory in boats? I ask because ours is a 94 and it doesn’t have a kill switch. Or is a kill switch a boat type thing? Ours is a 24’ open bow.
Dude I live in lake chickamauga in Datyon,TN we hold so many bass tournaments there and I'm fishing in one for Rhea county high school Saturday and pointers
Watched someone go overboard at Wishon Lake while I was fishing from shore this weekend. No vest and in fairly heavy clothes. Luckily there was another troller nearby that heard him. Had no phone signal and he was probably 200yrds away so there was no way I could help. Water temp was probably in the 50s and air temp in the 40’s.
I saw a similar situation with a similar boat ..The boat went in circles for 15 min ...and then went straight- at full speed (fast) into the shore like a rocket going way up into some trees ....The motor kept going until it burned up ..exciting !!
A very similar thing happened a month or so ago but with a much larger boat. It was a TowBoat US, 24 or so foot boat with twin 250's I think. I think it was around Houston. This was a "professional" in a huge boat and he got tossed. It can happen to anyone, anytime.
Bass fishing has been in my family tree since bass boats were a thing, and the golden rule has always been: Always wear a kill switch and life jacket, no exceptions. It saves lives!

this happened to us on lake sonoma a few years ago.. we pulled the driver out of the water then was able to come alone side the aluminum boat to stop it.. crazy !!

We Always wear our low profile life jackets and attach the kill switch. But... also check for the green tag to show telling you the presure inflation is going to work. You can stop a boat like that with your ski rope. Just let you ski rope out all the way and hole it in your hand. Then all you have to do it leave the rope inside the boats turn. The rope will tangle the prop and sheer the pin. It might take two or three ropes. I've seen this done on Truman lake twice.
If you see this happen near you, do what it looks like those guys did, and throw a big floating rope in its path to hopefully wrap up the prop and slow it down/stop it. But be SAFE doing it.

So I have a 12 foot Jon boat that I may put a trolling motor on. Is there a way that I can put a kill switch on it? I’m a safety first kind of guy. If it isn’t possible I’ll just use oars and get the workout.
I hate to say something like this about anyone, but those parents should’ve been a little more concerned with the safety of their kids. When you offered to get them on the boat, they should’ve immediately taken you up on that offer. Those kids should’ve been out of the water with that boat running loose. Yeah, I’m sure they were a decent ways away, but you never know. That boat could’ve hit a big wake and knocked it off that course.
For sale: used bass boat, some dents and scratches... but runs circles around other boats.... catch it while you can.
