Humminbird Helix 7 waypoint tips and tricks

If you dig into your Humminbird Helix, there are tons of options and settings. Tweaking those settings to meet your particular situation, can really be beneficial. In this video, I show you how to tweak some waypoint settings to help you hone in on a particular spot.

That is super cool. How do you like the helix? I’m bouncing between that and a garmin possibly for a kayak

I’m a big Humminbird fan and they have worked great on my kayaks for years. Of course Garmin makes some good gear so I don’t think you can go wrong. It all depends on the features you want. Mapping is important to me and I prefer Humminbirds maps. However if I wanted a live shot, Garmin’s LiveScope is tough to beat at this point. Thanks for watching!!

Thanks for the sub! You can edit, delete, rename waypoints so I’m sure you can turn them off as well, I have just never had the need to do so. I would go into the nav/waypoints area and I believe options is what you are looking for. If I remember, it allows you to choose “show” and even back then up to an SD card.

why weren't there circles around the other WP?

Good question. This is kind of an oddball situation since I individually marked every stump in that area and some of them are just a couple of feet away from each other. That puts a lot of waypoints in very close proximity to each other so my assumption is that the Humminbird software looks for some sort of distance between waypoints in order for the casting rings to have relevance. Otherwise it would really clutter the screen. As long as waypoints are 10 feet or so or more apart, they show rings. Thanks for watching.
