I can't imagine putting sugar in this. I add about a cup of plain yogurt or sour cream. Keeps it palatable, without being overly sweet. Any time I take a jello salad to a party, it's one of the first things to go.
I make a jello salad with any flavor jello, cream cheese, whipped whipping cream, pecans, celery, pimentos, crushed pineapple. An auntie gave me the recipe over 40 years ago, she called it reception salad, but depending on the occasion it could be called conception or deception salad…..😊 It’s so yummy.
My mom used to make something very similar. She would add mandarin oranges, miniature marshmallows, chopped celery, shredded coconut, maraschino cherries, and chopped walnuts instead of pecans. It was divine. I sure miss her. Been gone since 1984.

That's what makes the jello type desserts fun you can add or take away and it still turns out great.
I just made it but I didnt put no pecans in it
