Just to say that I've installed this - great product. One difference in the newest version compared to this video is that Syncro have combined the two (blue) spacers into one thicker one so if you open it and seem to be missing one don't worry! Also be careful with your fingers near the bias springs when popping them into place, they can be seriously painful if they jump off the screwdriver (ask me how I know)...
Great video. Much better than Slick Shifts own video. However, although I removed the grub screw successfully I couldn’t slide off the trunnion, not enough space behind with the body. So I was unable to fit that plastic seating. Slick shift said fit all the parts. So I gave up. Although it worked ok after I adjusted the 3rd/4th gear adjusting screws I found reverse more difficult to engage ?? Bottom line, is it’s now sitting in my garage unused. I’m happy to send it to anyone for free if they’re interested. 😁

Did you ever do a follow up for this regarding adjustment of the reverse gate? I'm having LT77 issues where it's too easy to get reverse instead of 1st, there's no gate at all, and while i "think" i understand the needs. I can't find any videos to clarify
Did mine yesterday - all went well and like it, but for the life of me - how the heck do you get the rubber boot back over the springs???? Getting it off was bad enough....
I have fitted this today but now can't seem to engage the gears, I did notice that the shaft where the grub screw sits had shifted inwards and to the left when I went to refit, is this an issue? does the shaft with the grub screw need to be completely upright prior to fitting?
It's really hard to find the gears in my reverse and first are not far apart and the same with a lot of other gears do I need a new gearbox or would this fix my problem
fitting won't take you long if everything is okay. setting up the spring will be perhaps a little bit of trial and error but you may have enough time left over to enjoy the other 3/4 of the day!
How important is it to replace that plastic seating (5:00)? I installed a slick shift but couldn’t remove the grub screw so left it out And gears were fine but now I’m having a serious issue finding my gears. Struggle getting into first, and third mainly and even reverse is a problem Enough to stop me driving
Fit my slick shift. Get all the gears no problem. But if I select reverse it goes in ok but it is very hard to get back out. I don’t want to force things. Didn’t have this problem before with the old shift. What have I done wrong
Hi, would you say that although the throw is reduced, the gearstick is harder to move? This has been suggested to me by my local garage, I just want to be sure before I fit as I have a bad left shoulder. Thanks.
hi could you i know this is not directly related ( im planning on changing my 2.5 petrol N/A defender to a 200tdi) but can you put the gearbox from a 200tdi disco directly in the place of the LT77 from the 2.5? without an complications?
The gearstick will be too far back to be any good. Gear selector housing is Different on a Disco. There is a way around it on the R380 gearbox Change the selector shaft in the R380 to a Defender Selector shaft which is available as a kit and fit the DEFENDER gear selector housing. www.onlinegearboxparts.com/product/r380-discovery-to-defender-conversion-selector-kit/ It is from the same guy who designed this Slickshift.

As I said in the video be careful of that spring. If it doesn't decide to go missing everything will be okay.

Not at all. the gates should just be closer together, that's all. Problems come when it is not set up properly.
Is there an equivalent for D2 manual?
Is this a worthwhile mod to a newly refurb'd gearbox?
better to start with a refurbed box. it does not rectify sychro faults just gives a tight selection.

Hi quick question,would a tdci gearbox work with a 300tdi engine?

That's an R380. Talk to Synchrogearboxes to find out. ( on their website).
