For anyone wondering in 2024, yes it can be done with the gearbox in the car by removing the center console. I did it on my disco 1 quite easily by watching this video!
This is good for my discovery 2, it took me a couple of hours to fit, done it by removing the center consul, but since fitting it, I don’t have reversing lights anymore. Need to reset the reverse switch, so have to take off the consul again.
How did you reset the switch? Is there a reset button or something by the switch?
Is there a way to shorten the throw with this kit?
Can you fit this from the drivers seat just by removing the stick and the gaitor and centre console ?
Is this able to be fitted while the gearbox is mounted or will the gearbox have to be taken out ?

What grease do u use?
Interesting design regarding the springs’ ‘hooked’ ends. Would it be better to have the hooks’ design flipped so they push up against the plate bolts? As designed they ‘pull’ away from the bolts and could slip away, couldn’t they?
Possibly. Though ive never known one to do that. Every manual discovery from 89 to 2004 had these springs, plus some RRC's so they're pretty well tested.
how do you fit reverse switch please?
It screws in where he was but at the side of passenger on box at top
Does raising the shifter up, via that plastic insert, raise the ball up out if the socket? .. such that the ball does not fully engage the socket anymore? This is counterintuitive.
