Whiskey Myers is actually a band. I am not sure what the singer's name is. They are Southern Rock and a bit like Lynyrd Skynyrd. They have some heavier rock songs as well. They even reference Lynyrd Skynyrd's song "Simple Man" in a song of theirs (I think it's "Ballad of a Southern Man"). This is such a great song but every time I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes and I am a grown man. I recommend you check out more of their music.
Whiskey Myers are great. If you like the slower, soulful sound, Reckoning and Colloquy would be good to check out. If you want a more upbeat song to get more of a taste of what they can bring instrumentally, check out John Wayne. 🤟🏻🤠
Have loved this song and this band for years. This lead singer, and this band, have more talent in their pinky finger than 90% of whoever is at the top of the charts these days. These guys, blackberry smoke, and Cross Canadian ragweed are three bands that should be much bigger than they are in the alt country / country rock genres
Great band and song. Please come back to these guys? They have a deep catalog. Mixed with up beat fun songs as well as serious stuff, like this one. So many reactors do this song. Say how much they love it. Then never come back to the band. I would suggest John Wayne or The Wolf. From their most recent album.
Wiskey meyers is one of the few bands i can listem to and not change a song. Absolutely amazing band. Check out stone, its a great song to! Ballad of a southern man is great, their song antioch is a straight jam also
A couple other really good songs by Whiskey Myers are "Bar guitar" and "Different Mold" those 2 songs you'll get to check out the more rocking side of them
I would like to make a suggestion for another artist. Y'all have done 2 Jimi Hendrix reactions. I would like a suggest a live song nearer to his death. The song is 'Machine Gun'. It is an antiwar song. There are several live versions available. I would strongly suggest the 'Live at Berkeley, Second Night' version. It is less reacted to than the 'Band of Gypsys at the Fillmore East' version. It features Jimi, Mitch Mitchell on drums and Buddy Cox on bass. It is 11 minutes of pure classic Jimi.
This the most East Texas song ever written! One funny thing about this song is when he mentions “Now you work down at the Time Out on 155….” Time Out is an actual Gentleman’s Club on Highway 155 outside of Tyler, TX. And so many people stop and take a picture with the Time Out sign now! 😂
We watch so many people go down south. It’s not a quick overdose, it’s a slow fade for too many. We coach locally and so many kid never have a chance. Mother will s Nd their kid to prison to save their man for the minute. It’s awful and kids feel no value.
I’m so excited to watch y’all hear this! Whiskey Myers is part of the music known as “Red Dirt Country”. Raw country musicians & songwriters from Texas and Oklahoma. Red Dirt Country is written of their real lives. A must is the Live Version. All you’re hearing are acoustic guitars!
I met these guys about 15 years ago, I've seen them 6 or 7 times now, very talented and super good guys. The band is made up of Cody Cannon (vocals), John Jeffers, Cody Tate, Jeff Hogg, Tony Kent & and Jamey Gleaves. Firewater is their 2011 album. Some other songs to check out from this one are Bar, Guitar and a Honkey Tonk Crowd, Anna Marie, & (the MUCH more rock inspired ) Different Mold.
Beautiful reaction! As we age, we lose friends and relatives to various addictions. As a non-addictive personality, ive been able to walk away from almost every drug available from 1977 thru today. 90% of people cant do that and become addicted..but believe me, there is 10% of the population that cant be addicted to anything. Our brains get bored with every high and tell us "enough..move on" and we do. Sobriety, along with any type of drug, is a good thing..in moderation-Grace Slick
I hear influences of several classic 70's light rock in this bands sound. Early Eagles for example. The singer reminds me of Michael Martin Murphey, who sang 'Wildfire'. Makes me want to pull out a few old vinyl albums, lean back in the chair and reminisce about my childhood.
Somehow reminds me of Dylan. (not the harmonica which is truly haunting) It's his cadence. He's a talk singer which makes the stories and pictures seem more personal. Halfway through and I felt I could let it go on for the whole side of a record, just like Sad Eyed Lady of The Lowlands. I shall dig into him. Thanks Don.
I like how the song opens with "A couple of pretty flowers, is what I brought to you". And then finally at the end, it's told why he brought the flowers and that it was a rose.. I have a southern accent, but even I couldn't understand that he said "pretty flowers" the first few times that I listened to this song. Lol
Please anything from Blackberry Smoke.
One of the best Red Dirt/American/Texas Country bands out there right now and have been for years. Miles better than commercial radio.

Singer is Cody Cannon. Love these guys.
@@stevenseul361 Thanks. I wasn’t sure of his name. I’m a fan too but I don’t know band members by name.
Ballad of a Southern Man is amazing.
@@warwithin7 Yep. I love that song.
@@stevenseul361 They are from my hometown Palestine Texas seen them many times they play small or large venues doesn't matter to them awesome group
Reckoning, stone, ballad of a southern man, trailer we call home.
All of them are excellent
@@landontoney 100% agree

Great Band……..I would also suggest you try listening to the band Blackberry Smoke
My wife actually knows and has sang with them. My favorite of theirs is "lonely east Texas nights." They are from East Texas where we live.
The whole album "Firewater" is a classic."Calm Before The Storm","Different Mold","Strange Dreams","Virginia" are well worth a listen.
Cody Cannon is the lead singer guys....
Your show is great. Check out Drive by Truckers "Zip City" or Jason Isbell "Elephant" for similarly tinged songs as Whiskey Myers
Whiskey Myers got their name from my uncle who was killed in a tornado in 1987 who lived in the trinity river bottom
Have loved this song and this band for years.

They've got several good ones. Try "Frogman."
I love that song. Antioch really jams to!

you are thinking about east palestine, ohio that had the train derailment

If you watched Yellowstone, they played quite a bit of them on one of the seasons.
Train derailment in Palestine Ohio.
Never heard them before! 🎉Thank you for the introduction 🎉in beginning of harmonica I got Neil vibe
It’s Palestine Texas lol not the derailment location
Same place Adrian Peterson is from
A couple other really good songs by Whiskey Myers are "Bar guitar" and "Different Mold" those 2 songs you'll get to check out the more rocking side of them
Love Whisky Myers !! Great Reaction y'all !!
I like the rawness of the live performance version. He also gives an introduction about the song before that performance.

The city of Palestine, TX is pronounced PAHL-uh-steen not "stine." The train derailment happened in Palestine, IL, not in Texas.
sad unknowing ppl talks about southern rock as "kind of lynyrd"

Great reaction yall. Definitely check out Stone by Whiskey Myers. Flatland Country is also a great band.
Start of vid , “Never heard anything from him “ 9:45 he’s lip syncing the lyrics as they play 🤣 cmon bruh
One of the most poignant songs ever written. Just incredible. I thought you should know.
We watch so many people go down south. It’s not a quick overdose, it’s a slow fade for too many. We coach locally and so many kid never have a chance. Mother will s Nd their kid to prison to save their man for the minute. It’s awful and kids feel no value.

well daw's has de-reverb to remove this awfull reverb
I'm surprised Sam doesn't do something about this dudes hairdo. He needs a good groomer.
This song hits home as I lost a friend in almost the exact same way in Cali back in 1999.
Now it's time for a ballot of a southern man.
Whiskey Myers is the modern day lynyrd skynyrd
Its not the same place fyi it was palestine ohio
Heart of stone by whiskey Myers 🙌
Great band
7 man band actually =P
I watched you go…
Seeing them next week :-)

A similar newer country artist with a unique voice, is Tyler Childers. Also very powerful, soulful vocals and storytelling.

Cool guys. I live down the road from the place that was Time Out. Went out of business.
Sohyang's single was released on Aug. 3. The title track is "Til you love me again," a big ballad from the 80s and 90s.

Saw them live in Nashville at Ascend amphitheater. Fantastic live. " Virginia" and "stone" are great
Request Elvis what now my love live from Hawaii 1973.👌
