Hi, I like the video but I want to make a suggestion. When you open a kit, put the decals in a zip lock bag to protect them from Humidity and spills. I also do the same with my tires to prevent Plastic Burn. Stay safe in the Storm! I'm watching it too since I live in Charleston SC. (I talked to you and purchased several of your GREAT 3D printed products at our last show)
The old Dodge is looking nice. Stay safe during this storm season as it seems to be pretty rough. I can understand you buying out all the kits you found in the antique store - if I had the budget and I saw some subjects I've wanted for years I'd likely do the same.
I have three renditions of the 66 Malibu, flip front as well. I built it when I was in middle school, will build the new one and the 77 one will be displayed on shelf. :) Great finds!
Prayers to all who live in the upcoming storm area. All be safe. Great video Matt. The Dodge is awesome looking. I see a future show winner. Your 3D resin products look incredible. Nice stash from the antique store. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing Matthew. You picked up some very cool kits at some incredible prices. Glad to hear your cabin made it through without any damage. Your pro-street car is coming along very nicely. As far as the way you speak on the videos, just be yourself. You'll drive yourself crazy if you try to "correct" yourself. I always enjoy watching and listening to your videos. Be safe! 👍👍
Lol. I remember when I first started my building hobby In the early 70s , the kits were plentiful and they were very cheap, like 5-6 bucks. I used all my paper route money. Then when I went into then navy my mother cleaned out my room and everything went into the garbage. Now I'm in my 60s and starting all over again being stricken with cancer sitting at home recovering g from surgery. That 66 chevelle is my first one I built and just completed. 😂❤
A nifty little MGTD sportscar kit. Bit of a challenge, but it could look good when finished. 😊 Fortunately we in Tallahassee ( North Florida) get to sit this one out, Tampa area is getting it right now, in Central Florida. Jacksonville is getting some too from the outer bands. 😮
There were several overhead valve conversions available for model testing and model A Ford 4's. I built a t salt flats racer with a Reily 4 port ohv conversion. It had 4 Strombergs and a front mount magneto. I referenced it from "The American Hotrod" ,one of my favorite car books. I'll bring it to Atlanta so you can look at it. The model got mashed up unfortunately😢. I did resin cast the head conversion because it wasn't available in 1/25. I based it on the old Revell 2 port conversion available in the woody and 2door kits.
Matt, If you love Model A Fords, there is a must have book for the Model A. It's a real oldie from Hot Rod Magazine - Model "A" Handbook - Hot Rod Magazine 1963 - Great read, will help you on all of the Model A Ford models variations, plus some of the early speed equipment. There is at least one copy on eBay right now for cheap.
Nice stash add. I got the 48 woody in 1999 or 2000. Paid about $12 for it. The hobby shop was just across from the HomeBase home improvement store that I worked at. finally started work on it, along with the '41woody. I'm using min wax wood stain on both of them. Looks good. I'll send you some in progress, and finished model shots. Stay safe during the storm season down there.
I need to get back to assy. I have four incomplete just still on the assembly table. I even have IceMan's large Uncertain T just waiting to start. Have not touched anything in 3 months. I did order 8 more kits. I am still wanting a 1/16 57 Chev Sedan of some type. Has anyone ever made one.
That scoop you found is from the red version of that 66 malibu you showed. look up the monogram 66 malibu street rat. those two models would be a great comparison video.
I Live in Canada and Ebay shipping to here is like 40.00 which is the reason i havent bought anything from there in a longtime back in 2005 i used to get first class for 10.00 now every seller is forcing priority shipping.
David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Friday, 11 October, 2024) Hey, Matthew, I hope you and yours are safe from the severe weather, and all are well and productive. Well, this video certainly is fun to watch! Those car kits that their makers had molded in coloured polystyrene-black, apple green, bright yellow, etc.-appeal to me. I personally would keep them in that hue, to simplify assembly. So, you mean to break a habit you SO dislike? Well, how do farmers prepare their fields for spring planting? Sow. How does a seamstress make a dress? Sew. How well would you do in such an effort? So-so.
Your probably like us all that start cleaning up the bench and soon your sitting there piddling with you build. It's hard sometimes to commit to a total cleaning unless I have nothing in the works.
Hey Matthew! I have been trying to get in touch with you asking about your safety from this hurricane and weather. I hope you are doing OK. I was planning on going to the next show in Georgia the 26th. But I work at servpro and I will be heading to Florida soon for rescue and cleaning up. I lm hoping I will be able to make it to the show and meet you a 2nd time. Michael Sterling
I remember in the 1970's when they made model kits so kid's could afford building models. Now the made them for adults to buy model kits. Even we second guess if we can afford to buy the model kits. There is no way kid's are going to spend that kinda money on a model kits. We know what it takes to make the mold to make the kits it's not cheap to make and the time it takes to make all the little parts for the kits
@@modelcarvideos5829 I used to live near their ship in Reston VA, about 25 - 30 years ago. They were in a building that had a small office connected to a garage. They had a wall in the garage lined with bins of all of their stock, and I could go in and pick up what I needed for my builds. That got expensive quickly, but back then Detail Master didn't have much competition for photo etch parts.
Soooo………..that was a cool video! Lol
Your work is incredible! Really luke watching them. In fact, im eggstatc every time i see you have a new one out.
Thanks David!!

My wife had a fit when she saw me walking out of a show with a cart full of kits. I told her I have to keep feeding the collection beast.

That 70 GTX has bucket seats and console. the Roadrunner has the bench seat and lowered front suspension.

I think the scoop was from the Orange Monogram 69 Camaro Z28.

After Matt (Luka) talked about the 66 Malibu kit, I finally got one a few months ago. Mine's a 1998 release.

Yeah kids definitely can't afford them anymore
Detail Master makes a detail kit for that AMT Super Bug DM-6001. I didn't see a listing for it in your site, though.
They are out of stock on a lot of stuff. I wish they'd offer more.

I started two versions of the SCCA Trans Am Camaro twice, but like you I lost interest both times.
That's a good mess to have😊
