It's good to see California having fun bugging the Government the way the other states do. And to hear him talk like himself. (Dude. Totally. Hella.)
What about gnarly? Do they still say that or no?
@@Igneous188 depends on what part of the coast you're on
@@Burning_Tardis Alright
@@Igneous188 it’s mainly surfer talk, an gnarly wave is actually describing the wave’s choppiness and it later got incorporated into regular language.
I think my Calirfornia is going to come out more this week because of this video 😂
As a Floridian who married a Californian, this sketch is life! I also appreciate The Tick reference.
Isn’t that tv show of the hero that is name Tick or I thinking something else
The The Tick reference. Also, Steven, the show, *_and_* hero are called The Tick. It's like Freakazoid. The show has the same name as the hero
@@Oskanwhitchfather okay thought so. Just making sure. Did not truly watch it but I saw pictures and clips of it
Someone explain the tick reference to me
spoooon!! I lived the Tick!
I don't think I've seen Florida get that flustered. Nicely done, California.
I mean, California IS basically the Florida of the west…
@@michealmalloy1934 Say that to California in a sketch. He'd lose it.
@@CortexNewsService I wanna see that happen now
@@michealmalloy1934 Except unlike Florida we have good weather.
@@hdrb1235 If it makes you feel better, I'm a Californian and I lost it when I read that. It's not even accurate!
.... Wait, did Ben get this so PERFECT because California and Florida are bizzaro twins of each other?
Some key differences include the fact that it seldom rains in California and Florida isn't on fire nearly as much as Cali
But the both use an umbrella
@@leeterry96 The way they use it, however, is polar opposites.
The one thing we do have in common is weirdness. I've been blessed with the adventurous opportunity of living in crazy San Diego city, where sea lions appear on i5, people drive with their legs because hands are busy with California burritos, and people are no afraid of "showing off". I love it here
@@leeterry96 Nah, you only use an umbrella here in florida if its already raining when you walk out, which is like 10% of the time it ends up raining
It's absolutely hilarious that California has the same reaction most of us Alaskans have when an earthquake hits 🤣 I'll log onto Facebook and all I'll see about once a week is "did you feel that?"
I've legit laughed at people who freak out over earthquakes I didn't even feel.
Because so often it's a TINY jolt. So many people from non-earthquake places are terrified of them, but really, the first thing you think isn't "omg, earthquake, I need safety" it's "did someone load the washer wrong?"
And then you don't hear the washer going and you think "was there a car crash nearby? Did a tree fall? No, I didn't hear anything. Maybe it was an earthquake." And THEN you check the shake map.
@@sunnirae1900 washer loaded wrong...I felt that one lolol
I only know an earthquake happened if my dad mentions it. The last time I remember actually noticing was when I was 10. I was on the floor coloring when the entire house swayed once and that was it. I didn’t realize it was an earthquake until my mom called across the house asking if everyone was ok. I haven’t noticed an earthquake since, despite people telling me they happened many times.
They both get 100 earthquakes a day
I’ve never seen Florida so riled by one state and I’ve never been so proud of California.
Loved this, and as a resident I feel obliged to point out the Central Coast is also a totally distinct region of CA. No biggie, we are used to being left out. It’s why we don’t mind being so damn hard to get to.
Last I checked it was north and south, with everything after LA being north 🙄
As a resident I just call it NorCal, Bay Area, and SoCal. Basically anything North of Ventura and South of Morgan Hill I suppose I'd call Central...but I usually just pick one of the bigger cities and call it something like Bakersfield Area, SLO area, Monterey area, Visalia area, Fresno area etc.
@@Surfinsam927 This pretty accurately describes it.
Central *coast*? Try central *valley*
I know, right?! I live in SLO County and I'm kinda confused as to which region I'm in since I'm about 6hours from LA and about 6 hours from Sacramento (without traffic or bathroom breaks)
As Californian it’s good see California make Florida mad
As someone who grew up in California it mind boggling to me that an outsider got us so accurate when so many people have failed in the past. Your only been there a few months. 😂😂 if anybody wants a true representation of what CaCalifornia is ike this is it, truly.
No I come from sac I'll tell you right now we call San Francisco Frisco we call California Cali I don't know what part California you grew up in but I think we grew up in way different parts California
Honestly, you can count on Ben to get almost everything down accurately. The only difference for me is that we call San Fransico 'Frisco'. It's probably because I'm Central Valley Cal.
In the bay area we call San Fransico either "The City" or "SF". But I grew up in Sonoma and always say "The" before a highway or freeway number.
@@justinmejia5988 nobody calls it Cali
In SoCal
@@MsDogleaf I grew up in San Diego. It always grinds my gears when someone says SoCal as well as Cali.
I did not know that Disney World and Disneyland shared THAT many topographical similarities.
I knew DL was in Anaheim and I keep forgetting WDW is Lake Buena Vista, NOT Orlando.
This was much more amusing than I was expecting (and I was already expecting amusement). And the Florida has been broken. XD
Dude had me ROLLING at the name of the county
The earthquake reaction is super accurate. Like you can drive on a small enough quake. Its dangerous as f@ck, but you can do it
Shoot if you’re driving you don’t know there was a quake half the time.
My sister was driving during the 6.-something in 2012, 2013? In Humboldt. She thought it was wind. Which is totally possible because the 101 by the Humboldt bay is windy AF. When she got to work everything was on the ground.
There was a 4.1 a couple weeks ago near San Diego and I was on the couch. My roommate was making coffee. I felt a small jolt and asked "did you feel that?" She did not. Went to the earthquake website and it was an earthquake! We spent breakfast talking about all the eathquakes we've felt.
Edit: and driving during an earthquake is not dangerous at all. Cars have suspension. You're not likely to feel anything under a 5.0. After that you'll think "wtf is wrong with this road?" After that, you'll think "wow, it must be windy."
I was in the mall one time
All you could feel was that the lights were swinging
A 4.0 earthquake will happen in an area not close to a city in Washington and the local news will be like:
Did ya feel it??
@@sunnirae1900 my fault for not clarifying at the time. Wasn't thinking in the broader scopes, but yeah i was talking about building breaking earthquake that'll have you grab a door frame for stability.
I know you can drive on a four. Stood through one back in 2015/16 and life was still happening outside.
Man, Ben really flexing that creative muscle. This was the best one yet.
Also Fun Fact: The reason SoCal residents put a "The" in front of freeway numbers is because our freeways started out with names and not numbers, the Hollywood Freeway is the 101, the Harbor Freeway is the 110, The San Diego Freeways are both the 405 and the 5, The 5 is also the Santa Ana and the Golden State Freeway depending on what part you're on, Same for the 91 which is both the Artesia and Riverside Freeway, The Long Beach Freeway is the 710 and so on. It a cool bit of SoCal history.
I never heard this, I just say take the 10 or something like that, or we are looking for I-10 west. If we ever try to get to LA
That's an interesting story! Up in SF it's basically the reverse... just 80, 280, 380, 580, 680, 780, 880, 980... Oh! And 238! 480 disappeared a long time ago, tho. But I guess my point is, there's not many freeways that we ever actually have to deal with (so much that just by naming the freeway numbers you know what part of the Bay Area I'm talking about), so just the number is good enough. That said hearing people call it "the 101" instead of just "101" is still way too weird.
@@nickfifteen The freeways around the bay area do have names, not that I have ever heard anyone use them other than to refer to The MacArthur Maze.
@@KestrelOwens yep. I know for a fact 580 is MLK
(Not directed at you, but future readers of this thread)
No one uses them, cuz well, who's reading a long @$$ name when you need to get somewhere
I love the fact that multiple freeways can share a name AND the same freeway has multiple names. Also, people's reactions to certain parts of certain freeways.
"Get on the 405 North."
"...Why am I suddenly driving into the sunset?"
"Because that's how driving west works."
"YOU SAID THIS FREEWAY WAS GOING NORTH."
"It goes north. At some point."
"WHAT."
"Look, we're two thirds of the West Coast and the nearest beach to here faces south. You get used to it."
"ISN'T THAT THE SOUTH COAST THEN?"
"God, no. Does this place look like a luxury mall?"
*pterodactyl screeching*
As someone who spent their 'learning to talk' phase of childhood in California, I spent the video going "do I really sound like that??" 😂 Also loved the Anchorman reference🤣

@@mako3271 San Diego being called a whales vagina
A few notes: In N Out is good… FOR THE PRICE. People don’t realize Californians love it because it’s cheap, and quality food within that price range. It’s easy to find better burgers elsewhere but it’s a hard to find a good burger that is that price and that good. LA has had a huge burger explosion lately and there are some amazing cheap burger pop ups here that are totally worth checking out besides In N Out.
Also Hella is only a thing said in the Bay Area or said by people from the Bay Area.
Only people not from Orange County called it The OC. People who live there say the whole name.
Los Angeles is so huge that you can have extremely different experiences depending on what neighborhood you live in even if you’re only a mile or two apart.
Also in Los Angeles distance is measured not* by miles, but by time since the two are not correlated at all. If you come here to visit, definitely get to know a local otherwise you’ll make bad choices and get stuck in traffic your entire trip.
*Edit: I forgot the “not”
And don't forget about In-N-Out's secret menu. I miss the Animal-Style fries.

@Schlugel basically. The food you get at In-N-Out is more filling than McDonald's as well. Their Double-Double combo is $6.50 and is more filling than any combination of food that you could get at Mcdonalds for the same or similar price. The lines at In-N-Out look long, but they move quickly.

As a Houstonian, we're bigger. Also, I too am offended

one thing I'd add is that no matter what the video said, San Diego is the worst if you're visiting for a day or two.
Thats how I felt about Texas
Not nearly as much as those in Portland and Seattle hate people from CA.
That's why it has Die in Diego
That's because you're leaving so soon.
YES, TELL PEOPLE SAN DIEGO SUCKS!!! Maybe then the traffic will die back down. Also what part of San Diego did you visit because that would make the difference. 😂
As a californian.... you arent wrong... like at all. I had to drive through 3 of those regions just for work... daily. The valley is hot and dry and filled with nothing but dry air, then their is the bay which is just CROWDED and busy busy busy and filled with tech. The City is what it is and then there is actually a region you missed. Santa Cruz. Mostly because to get their you either need to be patient, crazy or accidently got lost. The roads to get their are narrow and people in sports cars pretend its F1... even when traffic gets bad. Somehow i rarely saw anyone die.
Yeah I grew up in Santa Cruz. Highway 17 can be brutal.
I've noticed people in Santa Cruz call themselves part of the bay area which just feels wrong to me as a true bay area native
Santa Cruz is a place people decide to live for a few years to get away from San Jose and the peninsula, before deciding that it's maybe not worth the roads washing away every couple years.
I'm from Fresno and he definitely could have learned on the okie thing a lot more. In fact he should have called California and Oklahoma should have just shown up.
Down here in SD we have the 805, with a weekly forecast of stupid people in cars that are way less agile than they think they are.
My California heart screamed, "How dare you" at the In-n-Out diss. I mean, it doesn't have to be your favorite, but to call it not good!!! Also, Pea Soup, Anderson's, water fights I'm impressed to see you get those. But I'm also wondering at your definition of SoCal. Like those are all north of L.A., the OC, and San Diego. Anyway, thanks for the videos, love them! Keep 'em coming!
Californian here yes I did gasp when I heard him diss in n out, I literally picked it up yesterday, also appreciate the little mention of the absurd amount of Mexican food trucks in SoCal, most of the population in L.A. is actually Hispanic bc immigration is really easy when it’s just a walk upwards. Yes I hate every other region but I love San Diego. Everybody here goes there for vacation
Eh, I won't say In-N-Out is bad. But I do feel it is overrated. *born and raised in California* Though I will say that the first time I tried their fries? Best fries I had ever had in my life... Every time after? Disappointment. I'm not sure if it's because the first time I had them was before the switch to vegetable shortening to fry them and every time after was after the switch but even so.... So sad. I will, however, have to commit the Californian sin and say that I feel that Whataburger is better overall.

Anything below a 3.5 is barely perceptible. They're just small jolts where if you're not sitting down and relaxing, you probably won't even feel them. Between a 4.0 and a 4.3, you don't immediately think "Earthquake!!!" You think "did someone load the washing machine wrong?"
@@sunnirae1900 the calm and collected shift forward in your seat and pause in whatever you’re doing to stop and think “is this dangerous enough for me to panic over?”
It's been nearly 45 years since I lived in SoCal. Nice to know things haven't changed all that much - and only for the weirder. The people were nice, but the state itself was... odd... to a born Midwesterner.
My sister lived in SF at the same time and wouldn't visit me in Orange - "Too flat!" - which was a typical NoCal response as I understand it.
I miss the weather and SOME of the people, but not navigating the I-5 parking lot to get to work at Mission Veijo.
I live close to there, you take the parkways. Sure it has stop lights. But you can get there in 30 minutes or less, or sometimes more
Fun fact: if someone goes to In-and-Out and they are from Mexico, they take pictures to prove it to their friends back home and make them jealous.
Edit: I also found out from a Californian to never say Cali, but SoCal is fine. Hey, every place has their preferred nicknames.
I’m a transplant to CA. I got a kick when about 20 years back when a guy I worked with said “He loved living in the city.” I said “New York.” He was not happy, but I throughly it was fun. In the back of my mind I was thinking of The Tick.
As someone from el paso texas, i approve of that xD
As someone from Cali, i spend most of my life thinking San Jose was a country in Central America. Then i realized that's Santa Cruz.
I love everything always being compared to Florida and Florida losing his mind over it!
I appreciate the Ocala-horse joke. Well done, sir; that was a well executed deep dive. There is also a funny story between the city of Ocala and the state of KY, also about horses. Be sure to get some ‘boil p-nuts’ next time you hang around mycanopy.
Made me want to actually sign in, just to comment. Keep up the good work, amigo.
