Rhode Island Joins the Table

- We invite the smallest state in the union, Rhode Island, to the table and learn a whole lot about the Ocean State. The coastline, attitude, drivers, hot wieners, Del's, coffee milk, awful awfuls, Nibbles Woodaway, and the 2-time mayor of Providence: Buddy Cianci. Did I miss anything?

RD: it’s Hawaii?
DC: She won’t give me her number 😔
Native Hawaiians: Gee, I wonder why!
Ya um... you got some history their bud?
@@mr.factoid105 I don't have the whole ordeal memorized but basically, Hawaii became a state partially against their will. The American Government basically wouldn't stop harassing them until they forfeited their identity as independent people. At one point the American government straight up dethroned the queen and just set themselves up as the local leaders. And of course general racism causes a lot of problems for Native Hawaiians a lot
@@robertchaney2704 oh I know I was just being sarcastic and maybe a bit condescending. Like that guy that was just standing there while you argue with your wife at the bar.
@@mr.factoid105 Gotcha
@@robertchaney2704 Alaska was actually kind of similar. Russia had attempted and failed to claim and control it but couldn't hold the land particularly well because the various Inuit wouldn't let them do their hostile takeover. Russia was hemorrhaging money trying to keep Alaska, so Russia basically sold that land they effectively neither owned or controlled to the US before they lost it to their British rivals who had begun poking about the region. At the time they sold it, Russia had less than a thousand people there.

@@hossri2000 As a Rhode Islander I can't speak for what no school foster glocester meant for you, but for Rhode Island those two towns were always the first to get school canceled, the reason it became a meme is because they canceled more than any other town.
