Wow! So another camera pro I follow, Manny Ortiz just published a video saying that he’d choose the a7r3 if he was starting today which made me decide to come and do some research here with you, another camera pro I admire and follow. I have a Sony FX3 and I use it to shoot video but I don’t feel like it is a photography camera even though I know I can get good photos out of it. I want to learn more photography and was looking for a starter camera and because at this point the price is about $1500 used, I think getting the a7r3 would be a great option for me to get started. Thanks for this video
Question for Peter: I'm leaning towards buying the a7RIII, but the specs show that the view finder is higher resolution, 3.6M vs. 2.3M (a7III). Can you notice a difference when using the two of them? But more importantly, can you distinguish a difference in the view from the display monitors : a7RIII @ 1.4M vs a7III @ 900k? Wouldn't the a7RIII's display be better for determining if you missed the focus on a shot? And also: Do you feel that the a7III's 693 vs 399 phase detection helped it acquire focus quicker, like it seemed to do in your demo during this video?

I opted for the a7riii. It was my first Sony body, and coming from a d850, I thought it would be tough to give the resolution I had become used too. Another concern for me was the EVF quality. At the time I purchased the a7riii, I actually wanted the a7iii, but it was hard to find it in stock and I'm an impatient person. Purchased mine used personally.
That was a useful video, thank you for that but I'm still going with A7 III because I really don't need 42MP and huge amount of details! I just need a fantastic camera with standard options like A7 III
A7riii all the way. Got mine for $1800. It’s so annoying having people debate which is better. If you don’t want the 42 megapixels option get the a7iii. At the end of the day it’s the person using the camera that matters.
You got a great price on it! I do agree, the A7RIII is my choice and daily driver, but as you say... If you don't want the 42mpx then go for the a7iii. Both cameras are incredibly good, but the A7RIII is slightly better. Thanks for watching!
2023 and I'm staring at these two cameras used. The 7 III is only $60 cheaper than the r III and I'm trying to decide which one to pull the trigger on. The gearhead says r III but the practical shooter says III. I hate choices like this.
@@dymone4894 oh okayy happy to hear that you enjoyed, Im contemplating which to choose because the price of used a7iii and Riii is the same now in 2024!! Im more on hobbyist, i want to shoot photos primarily just for hobby maybe mainly do street photography and potriat (just for hobby) and idk what to choose, is riii too much for a hobbyist? But i know riii is more way way better than 7iii in terms of photography but im also considering low light, it is imprtant when you want to shoot at night. But im more into riii right now but im still thinking
And also since it just a hobby and i just want to post my captures in my account, im thinking if maybe Riii is too much because ofcourse the mp the editing is maybe slow due to high resolution, is there any difference if i post a phtos who's coming from 7iii and Riii in socmed
@@ushio4ver-hx1xg frankly either would be great and no the RIII isn't too much for a hobbyist. If you're concerned with shooting at 42mp then you can dial it back to whatever suits your needs. It was the reason I choose to spend the extra on the RIII over just the III. There are times when I want that extra detail and times when it's ok to not have it. If the price is the same or even within $100 I'd get the RIII all day! There won't be a time when you say, "I wish this camera wasn't this good."
I'm thinking a7riii, and make the difference on cheaper apsc lenses fir crop mode (like the sigma 1.4 lineup) and still get pics of 18mpx and even better video, while having the option to upgrade later with some serious glass on a body that will stay relevant for years to come. How does that sound? 🤔😊
Sounds like a plan! The A7RIII is the superior camera and i have it as my main daily driver for vlogs, photoshoots, and all kinds of stuff. Not once have I felt the need to bring up my A7III instead of the RIII. 🙌
Hi Peter. Every now and then these two cameras are priced equally for a short amount of time. Which one would you buy in 2020 if the price was the same?
I already have the 7iii and need a second camera. In 2021 the 7riii looks like a good update and the 7iii will be my burst mode camera while the Riii my portrait and headshot camera? We'll see. Thanks anyways for the video
I shoot both photo and video but primarily for live music/concerts. Is the low light THAT much better on the A7iii than the A7Riii? I am currently shooting with an A6000 and looking to upgrade. The A6000 has actually been doing a decent job but some shows are just too dark.
You know what, i'm gonna do a test on this particular subject to see if the A7III actually is THAT much better. Personally i prefer the RIII due to the insane image quality it produces, but the A7III is the most bang for the buck!
So i have the Panasonic GH5 for videos. But now i really want to start taking photos as well. Im starting to regret buying the GH5 after the Sony A7RIII came out..
im about to but one of this cameras and i want to ask u a few questions for low light how the a7riii preform ? also i found the a7riii for good perice about 200 dollars more than a7iii so do u think i should go for which ? i shout portrait photos most of all so whih one to go for and please answer
This guy is a freaking icon . Watch . Man . So im a pentax shooter . A proud pentaxian for years. But they just dont support the needs i have for my clients right now . So ive decided im going Sony. I now am excited about the image quality and low light performace on the A7Riii and iv (61mp) ease of compatibility, the native tech , image transfers ... cue "A Whole New World"
all that you said. No need for buying this expensive camera (good but expensive a7rIII) if you dont work with photography, if dont earn money with that. If you doing things with video than you should definitely get the a7III. Very good features for video and you pay A LOT less.
Hello. I am extremely torn between these two cameras right now. I am a freelancer who shoots a lot of different genres - events, real estate, interiors, portraits, sports, weddings, depending on the projects I get. But, my favourite style of photography is wildlife, always has been. I have recently got into video as well, for my commercial projects only. The reason I'm torn is because I know that the A7III is more than enough for any 'work' that I'll be doing in the near future. However, I still love wildlife photography and birds, and feel like the extra resolution or effective reach from the A7RIII could be crucial in situations. I don't normally print very large though, do make some prints here and there. The first lens I'll be buying for my Sony camera is the Tamron 28-75, since that'll get me started with most of my work. I will buy a telephoto lens later for wildlife. The difference between the two cameras is about $700 in my country. I could spend that money on a gimbal or some other lens or accessory. I would consider myself a semi-professional right now and am coming from APS-C. So, as a multi-genre photographer and videographer who's also into wildlife, which camera would be the right one for me? Sorry if I have jumped between several points, its just I really can't decide which one to get.
I’m having the same debate as most between the two. I plan to use the camera for a mix of vlog and photo. In that order. In Dubai, both cameras w/ the GM 24-70 are within $200 of each other. Any advice? Thanks!
Yeah, i'll see if i can make a new video about this which contains more pluses and minuses concerning the cameras. I would recommend the A7RIII to get the absolute best image quality possible. It works amazingly to shoot events with, vlog with, and is immeasurable when it comes to photos. So my recommendation in that case would be the A7RIII!
A7III: Low Light Photography, Sports, and Video A7RIII: Landscapes, Portraits, and Weddings The A7III is more of a entry level full Fame camera, but it doesn't mean that it's weaksause. The A7III has crazy low light performance due to having less megapixels than the A7RII. On the other hand, the A7RIII is more for professionals becuase it has that 42 megapixel count for Landscapes, Croping, and Large Prints. If your looking to start off with a mirrorless camera, I would go for the A7III just because you get alot of features for a great price. But if you have money, then just go for the A7RIII becuase of the high megapixel count, which is 42.2 megapixels. But it's your choice tho, both are good cameras.
as a portrait photographer, which will work better for me? a7iii or s7riii. now im using a canon lineups, eos rp and 5d mark iii. budget not an issue here.
I mainly shoot wildlife, and I just shot an air show. So i need something with good AF, which would be better? I will be coming from a Canon 6D and 1D Mark IV. I will likely be using mostly Canon mount lenses such as the Sigma 150-600. Which would be better for me? I don’t shoot much video at all. I’ve looked at the A9 but that’s just too much for me to spend as I do photography as a hobby. Thanks!
I would absolutely go for the A7RIII due to the high resolution sensor. But I would also try to invest in to some native glass since it will be heaps better than any adapted. The A7RIII is gonna give you crisper images and crop opportunities in post!
I shoot most low light so A7iii is probably the best choice. I'm not interesting much about 42MP but I will miss the nice viewfinder and the weather shielded found in A7Riii. Oh well the A7iv will come out soon so I will wait a bit longer to see what its spec will be!
Sony a7iii has 51200 ISO and a7riii has 32000...Is it really matter for low light photography since we are not using more than 6400 ISO...? Also a7iii ' s 12800 iso can beat by sony a7riii by its 42 MP by post edit ? I got only confusion on low light capability with these cameras ..Can you please give me a reply on this ?
Yeah, the thing is that the Sony A7III has bigger pixels in the cameras sensor which in turn lets in more light to each pixel. That means that you don't have to increase your ISO as high as the RIII to get the same quality in low light. The A7RIII however has a bigger sensor and when you compress the image the noise will be less apparent in images because of the higher resolution that is being compressed. Hope that helped you to get more clarification!
Still confused which to get. I want a quality vlogging cam and nature photography that I will print later on. Maybe go into photography biz too. Pls recommend me a lens too 🤔
Idk if you got one already or not, if not then go with the a7r iii, you will appreciate the more pixels in your nature photography. Here where i live they both around the same price.
I'm planning on buying a7iii for weddings mainly for video but I also took photos and I often resize or recomposed my shots for post. What do you think about the result? I mean based on your experience does it loose a lot of details when you crop your images about 85%?thanks in advanced... God bless
Hi! Well, the A7III will be more than enough for you to shoot with for sure. There is a slight decrease in the images of course but then again, it is not gonna be noticable unless you are doing prints or similar things that require a high resolution! Both cameras are great but my personal preference is the Sony A7RIII
Hi Peter! I’m thinking about possibly upgrading from the A7iii to the A7Riii. The only thing keeping me is the difference between AF Points. In real world use, would you say it’s “noticeable” when using AF-C at the edges with the A7Riii? By the way, congratulations on 200K subscribers! Well deserved! 😁
Thank you for a great review, i am thinking of buying the a7iii and i want to begin my photography business. Do you think, in the ling run i’ll need the higher resolution or should I stick with the a7iii? Thanks again!
Peter Lindgren hey man is the eos R better or the a7iii I want to get into professional shooting... Is cLOG a necessary for cinema quality colour grading?
Can you help me to pick a camera one of these? 1- canon 6d mark ii 2- sony a7 ii 3- canon EOS RP I just need camera for photography not video purpose... So which one i should buy?
Bro,just found your channel and i'm loving your content! I can see you're going to blow up with subscribers soon! Keep going man. I just subscribed. My only critique is that I think you should invest in better audio equipment for crispier audio. That's all that separates you from Matti and Pete in my opinion.
Hey man, awesome to have you here! It would be cool if that happened but i guess we'll see what happens, thanks for the sub! I would absolutely invest in it if i could afford it and could have a fixed position for the mic, but so far the Rode Video Mic Pro+ will have to do! Thanks for comparing me to the giants of YT haha! All the best!
Hey man i love your video,, And i want to ask, i using Camera for UA-cam, short films, street fotography, wild life and landscape. Which i have ?? Thanks
My main activity is food photography so still is the most important, but I do have some clients that ask a lot of videos ... If I get the a7RII with which camera would you pair it to do videos using e mount lenses?
Great Channel going to explode! Im torn between the two at the moment. Im wanting to get into duck videography and photography. Im wanting crispy slow-motion with the 120fps, and for low light capabilities. the a7riii does have the 42mp. how crucial is that for fast flying birds, or fast moving birds in slow mo?
Thanks for the compliment, I guess we'll see about that haha! I'd say go for the RIII, the performance is insane and the image quality is incomparable to any other camera I've tried! Thanks for watching!
With the trade up program 1799 vs 2499 ( 700 ) is A7RIII viewfinder worth 700? My last was D750, I am sort of old school pleasure of shooting person. Will I notice EVF resolution over the long run? Did you? I would pay SONY extra $400 for A7III with high res. EVF.
I hardly ever use the EVF on any of my cameras so for me it's not a crucial thing. But i think the sensor alone on the RIII is worth it if you are a photographer and not a videographer. If you're willing to pay 400$ for a good EVF then the step up to 700 won't be a big difference!
Thank you, I wanted to ask you please let me know how to unlock the rocket dial ring of SONY RX100 iii we used for ISO on right and left for Focus and downside for exposure and upper side for screen function when I try to use for shutter speed to move clock or anti clock it is locked. please help me out. regards

2023 and I'm staring at these two cameras used. The 7 III is only $60 cheaper than the r III and I'm trying to decide which one to pull the trigger on. The gearhead says r III but the practical shooter says III. I hate choices like this.
What did u choose?
@@ushio4ver-hx1xg the r III and I'm happy I did!
If you added the a7rIV to the mix would you stick with the rIII still or go with the rIV?
I'm thinking a7riii, and make the difference on cheaper apsc lenses fir crop mode (like the sigma 1.4 lineup) and still get pics of 18mpx and even better video, while having the option to upgrade later with some serious glass on a body that will stay relevant for years to come.
How does that sound? 🤔😊
Sounds like a plan! The A7RIII is the superior camera and i have it as my main daily driver for vlogs, photoshoots, and all kinds of stuff. Not once have I felt the need to bring up my A7III instead of the RIII. 🙌
Bought the Sony A7 thanks for the recc :)
Thank you Peter i was actually confused for these both camera ... which to buy
Hi Peter. Every now and then these two cameras are priced equally for a short amount of time. Which one would you buy in 2020 if the price was the same?
Go for 7Riii. - shutters have more warranty - 500k to 200k on Riii.
In that case I'd buy the A7RIII!
What camera you use to take behind the scenes and which kind of lens you use
I have a personal setting for sony a9 and a7 III and never have problems with Face detection in 4k
Awesome, thanks for the link and thanks for watching!
This guy is a freaking icon . Watch . Man . So im a pentax shooter . A proud pentaxian for years. But they just dont support the needs i have for my clients right now . So ive decided im going Sony. I now am excited about the image quality and low light performace on the A7Riii and iv (61mp) ease of compatibility, the native tech , image transfers ... cue "A Whole New World"
Question: Is there ANY reason for getting the A7iii over the A7Riii? Main use: UA-cam videos and family photos.
all that you said. No need for buying this expensive camera (good but expensive a7rIII) if you dont work with photography, if dont earn money with that. If you doing things with video than you should definitely get the a7III. Very good features for video and you pay A LOT less.

Thank you! I got the A7iii 😃
A7iii
I’m looking for night photography, which one do you recommend more?
I’m having the same debate as most between the two. I plan to use the camera for a mix of vlog and photo. In that order. In Dubai, both cameras w/ the GM 24-70 are within $200 of each other. Any advice? Thanks!
Yeah, i'll see if i can make a new video about this which contains more pluses and minuses concerning the cameras.
I would recommend the A7RIII to get the absolute best image quality possible. It works amazingly to shoot events with, vlog with, and is immeasurable when it comes to photos.
So my recommendation in that case would be the A7RIII!
Great review 😊
which is better for real estate video and photos? and event video and photography?
Sir, Which is best for portrait, wedding, sports, landscape, low light photography and also daily street photography??
Plzzzz reply me....
A7III: Low Light Photography, Sports, and Video
A7RIII: Landscapes, Portraits, and Weddings
The A7III is more of a entry level full Fame camera, but it doesn't mean that it's weaksause.
Thanks mate 🤝🏼 You helped me decided and I will go for A7III 🤩
Very good points mentioned
So i notice here...that for stills...i better buy the 7Riii instead the A7III?thanx
Peter Lindgren ok, thanks! Is the AF tracking on the A7R iii any worse than the A7iii?
@@couchgaming5577 Nothing that I've experienced no!
This was very useful. Thank you
Thank you so much brother for sharing this video ❤
really enjoyed this!! i was debating whether or not to go for the a7iii or the a7riii. but being a student and all i think i'll settle for the a7iii!
The A7III will be more than good for you man, it's a great camera with all the functions you'll need!
Thanks for watching
Fantastic video! Thank you
I shoot most low light so A7iii is probably the best choice.
Thank you for and Impressive comparison. Is there an overheating issue when taken video from a7iii?
how do you manage to get yourself in focus stood from far with sony A7R iii?
One can easily say guy knows the craft, thanks.
Sir
Can you tell the camera you have used to shoot this video it has more clarity than me

@@PeterLindgren1 hello Peter I am willing to buy one for a good quality video shoot please which one is better for your opinion?

You're welcome! I think the A7III Is fine, then you can take the money you save and buy a good lens!

@@mananjoshi1289 you probably bought something already, but don’t buy the eos R if you want to use it as a professional.
What's better for video?
And for photography?

Well, i personally would buy the Sony A7RIII because i think it's a more worked through camera. But i'm also a bit biased i guess.
Does the cameras crop 4K? Or have a flip screen?

2- sony a7 ii
3- canon EOS RP

Bro,just found your channel and i'm loving your content! I can see you're going to blow up with subscribers soon! Keep going man. I just subscribed. My only critique is that I think you should invest in better audio equipment for crispier audio. That's all that separates you from Matti and Pete in my opinion.
Hey man, awesome to have you here!
It would be cool if that happened but i guess we'll see what happens, thanks for the sub!
I would absolutely invest in it if i could afford it and could have a fixed position for the mic, but so far the Rode Video Mic Pro+ will have to do!

I agree 100% Great job.
I've just ordered the A7III. Coming from Canon SL2.
would you recommend the a7rii for product and social photography? instead of these 2.
For photography yes, then it'll work just fine. but not if you intend to use it for videography.
You forgot to mention the A7R iii focus point only cover 68% of the frame whereas A7 III focus points covers almost all of frame

Thanks for watching!
just because of your intro i subscribe .nice video very helpfull
clear and understand the message
