    A7C is a full frame A6600. Controls, handling, EVF, LCD, improved Tracking and size is what makes it different from the A7III.

    I ended up going with the A7iii cos I found a solid Open Box model at Best Buy for about $1200, which I would have been insane to pass up. As much as I wanted the unlimited recording time on the A7C, I literally could not pass up that price.

    Purchasing the Tamron 28-75 was a game changer for me. I LOVE that lens. I ended up buying the sister lens as well 17-28/f2.8 and now I’m pretty much set for any video I want to make on my channel. Thanks for this review! I own the A7III and the a6500 as my CAM B and I’m thinking about getting the A7C to use as my main camera and have my A7III be my cam B now. That flip screen, and endless recording is what’s up. Plus, the price is easier on my wallet vs the A7sIV? SIII? I get the names mixed up but the new one that just came out with the flip screen as well.

    There are lots of people out there that are still using the A6000 and are waiting to upgrade to full frame. I think the form factor and similar features from the A7III will push them to get the A7C. However I think the price should be more around 1499,-

  • @AJGalecki
    @AJGalecki 3 роки тому +40

    The biggest thing to consider, is even though they are in a lot of ways the same camera... the A7iii is a true 50/50 Photo/Video hybrid camera, equally great for both. The A7C is 40/60 Photo/Video, it is definitely more video ready than it is photo ready.

    • @flol3266
      @flol3266 2 роки тому +7

      This is not true at all. It has better skin tones and better auto focus than the A7iii. Especially those yellowish skin tones in difficult light situations make it difficult to correct for the A7iii. For video with HLG the colors are pretty much the same. So I would say the opposite is true.

    • @AJGalecki
      @AJGalecki 2 роки тому +1

      @@flol3266 There are no "yellowish skin tones that are difficult to correct" with the A7iii. Must be an inexperience/lighting issue you're having.

    • @flol3266
      @flol3266 2 роки тому +2

      @@AJGalecki this is a known issue with lots of attention here on UA-cam when the lighting is not optimal. Let’s say if you want to take a photo of someone in your living room at evening or so. This is now about inexperienced light setup because you do not only shoot with professional light setup… yes with a pro setup there are no issues because the lighting is perfect then. But when the light is not optimal (let’s say a wedding party) skin tones geht yellowish sometimes.
      And the A7C is not a camera vor video at all… it is the a7iii with new color science and new AF in a compact body. That’s it. It is just compact and everybody that complains about Form factor or Button really has no clue. The name says it all A7C = A7 compact!!!

      I disagree. The a7c is a great photo camera as well. The autofocus is also better in photos not only in videos. The flipscreen allow me to take great photos as well as the evf on the left side. I don’t like evf in the center. The a7c is much more lightweight so i can bring it everywhere. For the grip it is ok. If i want perfect grip for videos i can add smallrig 3212 which add an better handle grip and multiple attachment for monitor and side/top handles. A7c photos are beautiful. We are very happy. And i use it 70/30 photo/video. The flipscreen is important for portait photo.

    The only advantage for the a7c is how small it is. You can bring it anywhere without having a bigger separate bag bringing with you. A7iii on the other hand is easy to use with the manual and a comfortable viewfinder. Both of this have par photo quality so you can't be disappointed with both.

    I’m not truly sold on the a7C, it’s basically the same price as the a7III but without the controls. I prefer the two dials, the extra programable buttons, the dual cards, the EVF in the middle, the screen works good enough. The a7C isn’t quite there. I have the a6600 which I use on a gimbal most of the time. And I wanted an APSC for the extra reach when out at the track, and it’s a great small camera to vacation with. (10-18, Sigma 16mm f1.4, and the Sony 35mm f1.8 are all pretty small and produce great street photos and video).

I have other Sony video equipment I use for work. I am a big user of PP10 HLG. Silly question, but going to ask. When in Video mode on the A7iii, I have set the profile to PP10. When switching back to Aperture Priority I noticed the Picture Profile seems to stay as PP10. Is this profile applying to my photography or just video? Cheers WMV

    • @learningcameras

      Hey!!! Awesome! So, in theory, the picture profiles ONLY affect video and jpeg files (they will affect jpeg files though so be careful). However, there is 1 setting in the picture profiles that can minorly affect RAW files and I believe it is one of the GAMMA settings. I unfortunately don't remember exactly which one but in most cases picture profiles don't affect RAW photos

    Hey Dan, I am considering the sony system primarily because of these amazing Tamron (great value) lenses. My question is, I was looking at getting a a7c with the Tamron 17-28 and 70-180 lens. Will the grip/handling of the camera be an issue ?

    • @learningcameras

      Hey! Definitely agree. So the 17-28 is no problem at all with the A7C. The 70-180 might be a bit awkward and front heavy but I certainly wouldn't qualify it as an issue. But if your shooting for a long period you might feel your hand cramp up a bit since it doesn't have a full grip. But either way I think you'd be good
