Just wanted to say thank you! My wife watched a few of your videos and then cut my hair for me. First time cutting hair. She felt confident giving me a basic men's cut after watching your videos! You rock man. LOVE the style of your content. Keep up the amazing work!
#imbangingmybarberFTW
Matt literally taught me everything I know about detailed cutting
This made a world of difference for me! And I have taken many classes and watched many tutorials. The way you scissor over comb finally clicked with me. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks, I'm a hairdresser 35 yrs and I'm still learning new techniques! 💇
Great cut. Love your good clean sections and traveling guide. So glad to see you work on a person so much better than a mannequin.
omg your model has the most beautiful blue eyes!!! it was seriously almost impossible for me to pay attention to the haircut at the end because he was looking straight into the camera with those beautiful eyes that pierce straight through my soul!!❤
same!! 😍😍😍
Thea Øien I thought they were gray, lol
well how about BlueGreenGrayish eyes LOL,, either way his eyes are gorgeous
they're hazel
yeah....that was the purpose of this tutorial....
great tips! not often people pay enough attention to dealing with cowlicks properly, most of them avoid the subject since they don't know what to do about it. They say that's the way your hair grows and there's nothing to be done. You prove how wrong they are! Thank you.
I like all your video, steps are clear, angles of the cuts according to the head shape, excellent!
Matt Beck!!!!!! I appreciate All your teachings and all that you share with us hairstylists! That I voted for you at BTC for my faves educator!!!!! You deserve it!!!
+luvbeauty26 thank you!
I have been watching a loving your videos for a while now, but this is an especially good one! This is exactly what I have been wanting to learn! My son has 2 super tough cowlicks right the back of his head. Super helpful! Thanks!
I forgot to mention, my son's cowlicks are actually side by side and twirl in toward each other. Any recommendations on what to do with the center area where they swirl towards each other? If I am not careful and don't cut it correctly the hair sticks up like a mini (not cool) faux hawk in the back. Thanks!
@@laurajoli576 have you found a way to cut this area? my son has the same exact thing!
great tips Matt MOTTO IS never stop learning . you bring a great easy element to education!
your my new bedtime listening..... not because your boring but your voice just seems to do the trick.
If I had hair, this is exactly how I would have it cut. It’s almost therapeutic for me to watch these videos. Thanks for these great tutorials.
this is a cut that I do often...a lot of guys I see want this look because like you said it's for everyone! very simple and clean!
The tip for edging the neckline is gold, will save me a lot of time and sweat Thanks Matt
Looks good Matt. thanks for teaching me about how to cut cowlicks, I always just tried to leave length on them so they wouldnt split but that looked so nice how you did it.
+Abby Mueller thanks!
CAn you do another video on cowlick ,whirls receding hair lines in the front section on the hair ?
excellent job Matt. details really make the finish perfect
Subscribing to you guys has been one of the best decisions I've made recently! Definitely inspired to continue learning!
Thanks Oscar!
Great tip regarding indents in the hair. I had a guest two weeks ago come in. And he had so many indents in his hair, he questioned why I used scissors vs guard for blending, needless to say the haircut took about 55 minutes and he ended up scheduling a haircut with me (without me tell him) for the next three weeks.
Love that you added that edging technique 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
thank you very much Matt for answering my question. and taking your time to do it I really appreciate that .now my mind is clear..👍
Love it! Thank you for the help with cowlicks!
I really like that you don't start with making a solid weight line evenly around the head with the fade, then have to blend it out. I like the "salon style" fading much better than the "barber style". It seems to make it much more difficult fading if you create a hard line first then have to work to get rid of it just so the shadow is exact all around the head. To me, the shadow should drop down at the occipital bone in the back of the head.
Great Cut . Can you do some tips on cutting around ears with edger and shears . Love your videos .. You got me through Beauty School graduated two weeks ago .
Lee Sennett amen. I swear to God without these youtubers I would flounder in hair school.
What is the deciding factor cutting the top vertical as opposed to horizontal?
Thanks! Both of my boys have cowlicks and it makes it hard to cut sometimes
I would love to know what apparatus you've used in the salon that allows ya'll to hang the dryer from the ceiling!
woww his eyes are stunning! they're like blue-yellowish clear diamonds
omg, this is my favourite men hairstyle, didn't know it take a lot of work to cut . you are amazing, here Hong Kong hardly find one who can cut like you did. thank you making this video:-)
Fabulous stylist. Wonderful to watch those magic hands.
Cowlick information @ 6:39 Thank you so much for teaching us how to handle those!
Perfect!!!!!! I’ve been looking for this forever.
Great cut, thanks for sharing. Question for you.. my sons has 2 cowlicks at the crown a challenge even for me 35 yrs in the biz, i will try working them with the natural hair growth direction. usually I just leave it a little longer , seems to help. Any other suggestions?
I've found that texturizing the cowlick helps with that as well. Might be worth trying. I point cut with texturizing shears.
Wow, this video was sooo helpful. Thanks for showing 2 angles. Great video 👌🏽
Exactly the tutorial I was looking for! Thank you so much!!
Yes! Plz make more men's cuts videos! So many ppl assume than cosmetologists cants cut men's hair
What can u do if u cut the cowlick area too short and it now sticks up
He's gorgeous and you slay everything 💓
Do you have a video on the tools you use and when you use them?
Awesome haircut matt! What about if we have a client that is trying to grow the little hairs at the parietal to flair into the recession to cover up balding, seems to be something similar with your model in this video. Can you do a growing out process on him to see how to keep those away to blend in to the top? Thanks!
Is the top of triangle section towards the crown? And when you say pull new hair to guide are you referring to the hair you previously cut?
I like your demo of this hair cut. Your model has beautiful eyes!
Great hair cut!! Love it! But man your friend Matt is good looking
Drop your pants and your in there so will he
Love love love this cut!!!
Love it, I am a good learner and you are the best teacher
Agree that people shouldn't cut their own hair. But now with COVID-19, looks like salons won't be open for a few months. Will be trying for the first time. Thanks for the tips.
I'm cutting my dad's hair tomorrow. Wish him luck.
Its crazy to see how different “stylists” and “Barbers” do things.
hair tonic from rezel inside the spray bottle(one to two squirts) for breaking down product and blow dry before the hair cut is really really.
This video was awesome!!!! Thank you thank you so much! Im definitely going to try that colick cutting technique when I get back in the salon!
Awesome Channel ! Awesome Vlog ✌
I love these cuts on men. I can use ur tips on African American hair too because a lot of African American women where short cuts like this and this is what I needed help on with blending techniques. Thanks. Can you do a video with short pixie and graduated with a slow explanation of how to cross check?
How do you manage a cut for a double cow lick?
? for the cowlick area. You said never pull the hair to you, but on the left side of your diagonal parting you was pulling the hair to you. Could you please clarify?
Some people take horizontal sections on the top, you took vertical sections on the top.
Is it a personal preference or is one better than the other?
I love this video! My son has a wicked cowlick on his crown, as well as two on his front hair line - some days it looks like his devil horns are out! This worked perfectly for his crown. Do you have any advice for cutting his front cowlicks? They are both where is hair splits at his parietal ridge on either side. I tend to sweep his hair off to one side, as one of his cowlicks will lay down with a little bit of weight.
Nice job- sure could do with a haircut like that right about now! Greetings from Dublin, Ireland.
Another great cut Matt! Can you please do a tutorial on cutting multiple cowlicks in women's hair?
Your scissors are beautiful! Great job with cowlicks. thx
What's this hairstyle called and what would u tell the barber to replicate it?
Matt hair cuts great! awesome model with those soulful eyes 😍Matt Beck
My hairs parted on my left side but I've never parted before and a cowlick behind the left side at the end of the parted. Can you make like a haircut guide to dealing this.
What is your option on cutting the cowlick off when it’s to unruly or if they are going short on the sides. Do you think it should be avoided because of the way it grows back. Thanks for sharing your video btw
I have two cowlicks on the same side ,what to do I am trying to get rid of it from a long time ...pls provide some tips
Another super helpful video! I'm still practicing scissor over comb but I feel like the right scissor probably makes a world of difference :( The outline technique is a great tip.
it's amazing that even when first starting you don't have a hard line. no matter what I always get a hard line that I'm working at blending in for most of the haircut. I dread zero fades!! can you do a video on zero fades?
Great tips on the cowlick. Thank you
You are a great teacher PLEASE keep the videos coming!! Any chance of you doing hands on classes or in Salon education near GA??
Digging the new graphics! And this video is just what I needed! I never know if I should take my client's unruly cowlicks shorter or keep it longer. Texturizing cowlicks with a feather razor tends to work tho. 🤗🤗
I really enjoyed. You did a great job explaining.
Im a fun of you sir. I have my own salon i started it last month only, but im not expert to cutting hair thats why i always watch your video to learn. I only know is Manicure and Pedicure foot spa hair Straight Rebond im not an expert to hair color but im intersted to learn more. Im happy that you have vlog like this so that i have an idea to learn. Thank you so much sir..
extremely informative ! going to try this technique at work today !!!!
Could you use think shears for the shadow
Cowlick section of the vid is around 6:20, if anyone needs it.
Nice cut; detail work is magnificent; I have the same cowlick prob., good job on the cover👍
Can you do a video focusing more on cowlicks aroung the temple/forefront of the hair? Where were the pointers for cowlicks anyway, I got more about transitioning from this cut into the the next trend.
your videos are just the best. I learn so much always. amazing !!!!!
So for the cowlick what you're saying is to comb it where it lies and then cut? So you're not fighting it? I want to give my boyfriend a cut this week and he was a cowlick similar to your model's here, this was very helpful! I'm still in beauty school and hair cutting has been one of my struggles.
I know this video is 1 yr old but does the discount code still work for the scissors? I put in mattbeckvlog but nothing was applied.
Sorry That discount is no longer valid.
All your lessons are attractive. Thanks so much.
Loved the hair cut! You did great! Thanks!
can you please tell me what kind of blow dryer are you using in this video if is good quality??
Thank you so much for all your education ❤ its absolutely made me a better stylist.
May I know what clipper did you use for cleaning up the hairline/excess hair around the neck?
very nice cut keep up with good work thanks for everything what u educate hair stylist bless u
Thanks for the video, i cut my husbands hair today and he liked it 😀 greetings from Argentina
How long is the front compared to the crown?
Your the best . Y o u put 110 percent in all u do T Y
isn't it true that if you cut vertically on the top of the head, it results in a narrower shape in the haircut? Versus cutting a horizontal line that would build more weight in the Parietal Ridge area?
+wasdwasd24 I don't believe that is true. weight is determined through elevation and over direction not by the direction of a parting.
Free Salon Education I see so if you wanted to build less weight in the parietal Ridge area how would you do that? Or maybe refer me to a cut you've done in the past that goes over that?
awesome work, would love to know more about the styling products used
Really enjoy your videos. I've learned so many things from you and I am glad I found this today, I was having a challenge with a cowlick /Whorl on the back of a clients head. Thank you 😊
hi Matt thank you for the excellent hair cut I will like to know what kind of blow driyer you use if is good..
+erica grosse its the dyson blow dryer and it's good quality but expensive for what it is. Any pro blow dryer is just as good in my opinion you paying for the look with this one.
where do you get the combs and the brand
I agree I work in a barber shop n I did notice I get this same haircut alot
What other products do you recommend that are like the Bracato Carve? My salon carries, Mitch, Paul Mitchell, Matrix, RedKen, and American Crew. I’ve never tried the bracio product, not sure what consistency I’m looking for.
Hi! Paul Mitchell shaping cream is similar
Gracias señor!
I work in a salom but on my men's cut I o do all kinds of fades but my guys are always challenging me so...i do alot of bald-fades...taper fade...comb overs ect.
Love your Vlog's! You just teach so well! Oh, and your work is great!
Just subbed, I've been mainly cutting fades for few years and cutting the cowlick is one of the biggest hurdles when it comes to asian hair. Also your "still" blade is crazy, you'll never find that level or scissor work in a barbershop.
How do you deal with people with very sensitive skin
I had a client who I was cleaning up around his ears with trimmers and he bled pretty bad
Is there a way to avoid it
Do I have to switch to shears when doing the perimeter
Love the cowlick solution!! 😊
