1 left in 2024. The legendary Dick Van Dyke. This guy is my idol and favorite entertainer of all time. Everything he did was for the family. God bless this man.
Right as I wanted to right sth. like "May they rest in peace!" it hit me that Dick van Dyke is not only still alive but even performing every now and then (just starred in four _Days of Our Lives_ episodes). Talk about living legend!
This showed up for me when I searched for "Old Friends" during the week after Sondheim died. It was a parade of who's who during the days I was growing up and watching television. Beautifully nostalgic for me - and, evidently, for many others, judging by many of the comments here.
All four of them had stage experience. Betty White tour and hello dolly and I’ve seen other clips of her singing much better than this and I have seen both Estelle Getty and Rue McClanahan on Broadway
It's great seeing all these stars from yesteryear. Some of them are still around like: Dick Van Dyke, June Lockhart, Phillip Michael Thomas, Billy Crystal, Michelle Lee, Jon Lovitz, Shelly Long, David Letterman. I wish they would have posted a complete list of who is there. All I recognize other than those named are: the Golden Girls, Sammy Davis Jr, Bert Parks, Dennis Weaver, Raymond Burr, Dick Clark, George Burns, Shari Lewis, Sid Caesar, Imogene Coca, Milton Berle, Robert Stack, Eve Arden, Diahann Carroll, and Don Knotts!
I just discovered that the song is from the musical "Merrily We Roll Along", Stephen Sondheim's 1981 flop, and Jason Alexander's Broadway debut. Flop or not, great song.
Totally agree. Real talent, from the days when television produced great shows. It's ironic the quality of the picture & sound goes up in the sets as there's less & less appearing on them worth watching.
This was a great tribute to those great ladies and gentlemen who put their life on the line so we can watch something on tv 📺 They will be missed greatly and I never get tired of listening to Old Friends
Being 2021 this year and watching this video now it was like ghost were on that stage now and Yes I know Betty White is still alive and pushing 100 years old
Yeah but Betty White is the better actress. She and Arthur did not get along but she seamlessly melded with the other actress so you'd think they actually HAD BEEN old friends.
I wasnt commenting on their abilities just wardrobe. If we are commenting on talent I think Rue McClanahan is hands down the winner though I do not care for her dress
R . I. P. Beatrice Arthur (1923-2009) Dick Clark (1929-2012) Raymond Burr (1917-1993) Rue Mclahan (1934-2010) Sammy Davis Jr. (1925-1990) Milton Berle (1908-2002)

And Coopers and Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) were the ones who knew the Emmy winners FIRST before everyone else; it wasn't long before the Television Academy went with Ernst & Young.
We think 2 or 3 of the ladies are still around - BW of course. June Lockhart (we noticed Jeff Bezos didn’t ask her to go into space.) And maybe Shari Lewis. 📺
Omg, they're all gone now ... all except for Betty White and David Letterman, wow! to think I lived thru the era when they were all still around and alive. What memories, I shall never forget. Amen 🙏 🌹 🙏

I'm happy to say not the case: Betty White, of course (turning 93 in a month), Jayne Meadows (now 95), Dick Van Dyke (89th birthday coming up on December 13th, 2014) are still with us. How I remember all the others, though. This is a wonderful segment that I never tire of seeing.
I Also watched those shows. Perry Mason, Your show of shows, Golden Girls, The Untouchables With Robert Stack etc, great shows. The shows now are a bunch of nothing. I watch 3 shows a week now and they are on hiatus. They have brought back a lot of the classics on antenna tv that I also used to watch. Crossing Jordan, Cold Case, Facts of Life, Love Boat, Columbo Designing Women, Little House , The Waltons . They don't make them like they used to.And you notice alot of them have women leads and there are more, so why all the bitching about their rights and their women power, it's crap. Even way back when. Loretta Young, Doris Day, Julia, "black lead" Life with Elizabeth with Betty White, so women have been playing lead parts for years. So get over yourselves. The sitcoms of today are not all that funny, at least not to me. They try too hard and they overdo everything. Especially the show "The Game." It's disgusting. I think every man in that show has screwed every woman in that show. That's all its about, I never did get the gist of that show. O yea, they do have a football team and the players think they are gods gift to women. I wouldn't have any of them. I thought I would give the show a chance, and I did that. Big mistake. YUK

Nice to see older actors being involved.

Quality, modesty and class... when television still had that and more.
The Gong Show, maybe?
Queen Bea front and center. Love it!
I love the golden girls i still watch that show til this day ....

I worked this show ! Was part of the classic and now defunct NBC Page program.
If you were born in the fifties you’re bound to know every single face in this production. Marvelous!
I was born in 2008 and I know every face in this production!!
An astounding assembly of TV stars, mainly from the '50's and '60's. Their like will not be seen again.
Love the Golden Girls but it is Bea Arthur who is a true Broadway trooper!! Wish I could have seen her on stage!
All four of them had stage experience. Betty White tour and hello dolly and I’ve seen other clips of her singing much better than this and I have seen both Estelle Getty and Rue McClanahan on Broadway

This would be a great closing number if the Muppet Show came back
These were actors/actresses with true angel & talents! We will never see these types of stars again!
OMG this was awesome. I knew ALL of those people and the shows they were on. It was like seeing my childhood flash before me.
That was an incredible collection of stars on the same stage.
Great tribute to the great talents whom are no longer with us.
Betty still is
Dick Van Dyke is still alive as of 5/22.
@@SalamanderDrawing Until 12/31/21.
Dick Van Dyke is the last one as of 5/5/2024
And now, 35 years later, there are only two left, I think, with the passing of dear Betty: Dick Van Dyke and June Lockhart.
One word: irreplaceable.
Golden Girls :)
Betty is a legend.. as old as televisions haha
I just discovered that the song is from the musical "Merrily We Roll Along", Stephen Sondheim's 1981 flop, and Jason Alexander's Broadway debut. Flop or not, great song.
Hello from the future. Merrily is now the hottest ticket on Broadway! It's a hit, 40 years later.
What a lovely clip
So sad only 3 are still alive in 2019 .

They didn't even give all those legends a standing ovation!
They made million$ so it's okay

Life on the line? Wow… so, when I see a movie or tv star I should say “thank you for your service”. Lol.

Gosh I love this!
What a coincidence to see Betty White when she just died yesterday. Dick Van Dyke is still around.

This is such a wonderfully special video.
They don’t make tv like this anymore:(

Ah, Charlie O'Donnell. What a booming announcer.
