Was lucky enough to see this in December when I was last in London, simply glorious. Then my fan boying spiraled out of control when I realized I was sat 3 seats from Billy Porter.
I really enjoyed seeing Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends at the Gielgud Theatre in London on Wednesday 27th September 2023 and it was absolutely fantastic
I really hope that this version, but more especially the original version that included so many more Sondheim protege's, comes out to buy. As a lifelong admirer of Sondheim's, I so want to see it....!
I tried getting a ticket to see Les Miz but it was either pay £200 for a seat or a cheaper one and see nothing of the show!! I decided to see this and I'm SO GLAD that i did!!
I’ve not even watched e seen it 3 times. This was theall of this. What a fab night this was. I’m also sure Ann Reid, a most wonderful actress was in the Lower Box. I’ve seen it 3 times. This was the very best. All this talent on stage together when was Julia McKenzie and Judi Dench AND Maria Freedman?
I was very lucky to have got a last minute ticket in the Dress Circle for this final performance. I had seen the show twice before from the front row of the Stalls (worth getting a crick in the neck to be so close to the multitude of talent on that stage) but the overall view from the Dress Circle was fantastic ❤
@@theHuntgoeson Insisted is the word. They had to be dragged on stage and it was lovely to hear the resurgent applause and cheers for them. Performers are visible and get the acknowledgment but obviously there are many behind the scenes staff without whom the show wouldn’t even go on let alone be brilliant.

❤thank you for sharing....saw this glorious production in September....will never forget it!
It was a great night. Saw the show 6 times and it was emotional last night. Got to meet some of the cast and julia mckenzie
While Julia Mckenzie was in the one off tribute to Sondhiem in May 22 that was filmed and shown on the BBC she wasn't in the 2023 run
@old.not.too.grumpy. she went to closing night In January 2024
Yes I eas there in the stalls. Emotionally charged evening ❤❤
@@rachy_ejAnd also to other performances!
I was lucky so see it the night before and it was such a powerful show with a truly fantastic cast

It’s coming to Los Angeles and I’m sobbing 😭 already ❤
Saw the show in September - fabulous.
Saw this opening night of previews. The surprise for me was Lea Salonga doing "Everything's Coming up Roses." I didn't know she could belt out a song.
Update: Coming Up Roses is part of her set list in her UK tour 2024.

It’s on BBC iPlayer!
Even better, if you live near Los Angeles, they are bringing it to the theatre here next year!!
there is a streamable cd of the original version with the great julia mckenzie and haydn gwynne whose version of the ladies that lunch is spellbinding
I WISH I WAS THERE!! WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT LIVE!!!
It's coming in LA and Broadway next year with Bernadette and Lea.
Legendary Lea ❤

Yes it was Anne Reid in the Box very much enjoying the show! it was a great evening wasn't it!
Sorry about the garbled nonsense of a message. Quite unlike me, I obviously did not read it before pressing!
@@vickifriend9285 we have all done that !!! Be nice to yourself !!!

Love this! Thanks very much for sharing. Was Lea’s kid part of the production, was that why they came out on stage?
Wow Bernadette Peters and Lea Solanga
Cameron didn't come for the last day?!😢
Yes he did . He was watching
wait who were the few people that came out at the end?
The backstage crew. It was so moving that the performers insisted upon the people who MAKE THE SHOW HAPPEN joining them for the final calls.
@@theHuntgoeson figured lol....i was watching this video on bilibili first....the focus was awful...thx youtube for HD options :)

@@theHuntgoesonLea's daughter is not part of the crew. So I think the other is a family member of the performers.
“STOP TAKING PICTURES RIGHT NOW” (*guess who*)
What a bunch of hams! Can't get themselves to leave the stage.
Are we sure we’re not mixing up nostalgia with quality? This looks pretty pants to me 🙈
Yikes, this cruise ship staging won't go on Broadway. It looks like a thrown together one-night benefit.
