if you do this again, you should do points on how far away each person is from the actual score and total at the end. this stops one player from guessing 4.5 then the other 4.4 if they think it was lower
It's probably not necessary since there's points where they willfully acknowledge that's scummy and avoid doing it, but I still agree cause that honestly might be a more interesting metric to score by anyways. As it is now, you can be really wrong and still get a point if you were slightly less wrong than the other person. If they tallied how far off they were, it'd be more about how in tune with the community they actually are overall.
I think one thing they both didnt consider is if a bad card looks decent/fun it wont be below a 3 because averages of people who are hyped on it bring it up giving 5s. On top of people are going to hedge their bet if they cant tell and give a 3 rather then a radical pick
13:20 the biggest impact towards Rexxar being playable was rotation where a lot of dogwater beasts got rotated out and replaced with those with rush or lifesteal. Vicious Scalehide was the biggest highroll imaginable because you could get a big dumb 7 mana idiot that would probably heal you for like 14 or whatever by immediately trading (rush) and forcing the opponent to deal with it. The 1 mana 2/1 leech was also really good to hit despite being literally unplayable in deck building.
Yo Rarran, this was a really cool video, really enjoyed it and hope you do more of these with Roffle or other guests who know HS well enough to give a solid analysis.
14:42 I mean instantly putting the portal onto the board would probably be the best way to buff it. Honestly, the biggest issue with the quest has always been the gigantic tempo loss of having to play the 5 mana spell AFTER going -6 in card advantage.
I know some pre-release commenters suggested Bounce Around would see play in Caverns Below Rogue, completely ignoring the fact that all your minions cost 1, you know, so it's just a worse daring escape. I definitely think people were letting their emotions do the reading for them. Edit: Shirvallah (Holy Wrath) Paladin was already a deck before the set even came out, iirc.
Either I watched this live, this is a re-upload, I am suffering from extreme déjà vu or I have awoken my latent precognitive meta abilities because I swear I have watched this already.
It must be a re upload. He mentioned he was going to come out with hos top 100 in the video, and he released that one recently. This one may have different editing, though. I remember them revieving these cards too, but not with the funny editing at the beginning
Lmao @ Roffle in the beginning and the tea kettle. Nice edits 😂 Roffle expressing his dissapointment in the HS community is pretty funny in itself.. wonder if he has ever seen a chat sample from a Twitch stream 😂
I remember when patches got spoiled, and coming from an extensive background of competitive MTG and YGO, my first impression was "...oh, this is broken, right? Like this is best card in the set, right?" and got met with a tonnn of replies saying "bruh no, this card is trash. But maybe good in meme pirate decks" ....such delicious vindication when he warped the format :)
It made me laugh when roffle said "the less time I have to play hearthstone". I realized I dont care to watch anyone actually PLAY hearthstone (I dont play myself currently). I do like talking/listening to people talk about the game.
I'm actually glad that none of you went for the tactic of just saying 0.1 higher or lower than the first one (at least not in the first 8 minutes of the video. that's why I like your videos with Roffle, you're all about fun and not who wins it. Eddy would abuse the fact that you didn't write your answers down.
after watching more of the video it's so nice that you guys are actually trying to guess the rating of a card and not just beat the other one. great vid.
I think a better system for a rating video like this would be to add up how far off from the actual rating each player was. For example if one of you rates a card 1.8 and the other thinks it'a 4.0, it is safer for him to just say 1.9 and be closer to the actual rating as long as it's higher than 1.8.
I am always so happy when I see Roffle in one of your videos. His dry, very deadpan type of humor I feel works really well alongside yours. If you were a comedy duo, Roffle would be "the straight man" I think.
Great vid, maybe for next time you can both score at the same time and then turn around the score. Then you dont have the "problem" of someone not being able to go up by 0.1 or something even though they think it is the right score to give. Btw Rattlegore on release if I remember well was extremely strong even though nobody thought it would be. Control warrior was very strong and Rattlegore was wincon. It was even so prevelent that people were running Silas Darkmoon in their CW to steal their opponents Rattlegore.
The thing about Confessor Paletress is - before the release of TGT people (including me) really did not understand just how bad Inspire is. I seriously thought it's better than Battlecry because you can activate it multiple times. I was a complete noob back then but a lot of people were and I think even better players did not really get how bad having to hero power for the card to do anything was.
In my defense, I don't question that Patches is a good card. I question the decision to run like double Mistake and maybe Amalgam of the Deep and then add Patches on the off-chance you curve it early enough for Patches to have an impact.
11:55 Rattlegore also had the funniest voice line as it resummoned smaller and higher pitched each time! Edit: the above statement was likely due to a false memory due to watching edited videos.
A third person who is not in the Hearthstone community would be so funny like you got Roffle and Rarran talking about how a card impacted the game ect then someone like CGB just giving honest rating
they seem to be fully locked in to the fact that people would only rate cards on power level and never consider they would rate based on the design or how bad is it for the game, people remember cube as one of the more iconic cards of hs history and that explains the high amout of votes and high rating but a lot of people hate patches and how much he accelerated the meta and that explains the low rating (yet roffle is right that a lot of people to this day wrongly think patches was/is not that strong) The newer cards are rated much more towards power lvl tho
Drink once every time Rarran says "tough". 30:10 I'm pretty sure the same set added a card that gave Stealth minions +2/+2 or something like that, and that's why it has that rating.
Over value cards that fucking Cube gave warlock a easy OTK and people figured that out before the card came out Rarran also Sylvanas Cube then steal 3 minions was funny when it worked. also Confessor was shown along side the card your hero power costs 0 and you can use it twice in a turn the potential of getting two Rags will have any card player tell you that its worth it. The Roffle/Rarran dynamic is absolutely comedy gold.
I love the integrity of the second guesser not going 0.1 higher or lower than the first, even if they were thinking the same score.
I was just thinking the same thing. I like him creating content together with Roffle so much.
rarran as boiling pot is amazing
Peak level editing right there
*Biserable was also funnier than I expected it to be.

Editor was getting sick of Rarran's "It's tough."

I never even paid attention... now I'm poisoned I'll never not hear it.
I was laughing at how Roffle had great insight on how Kobold Stickyfingers would be rated because of all the experiences he's had with it in the past

That's true. A lot of people probably rated the cards based on how cool they were instead of how powerful they were.
That too. I was mostly just considering people who are going off power but i wouldnt doubt thats actually the larger % of peoples vote
also redditor type individuals voting le meme up, I'd wager ogre or yeti might be rated high. same with the ragers
Never rate something that's not obviously a horrible card below 2.5, because people hate to rate a card low. "Unplayable" is 3 stars
Also worth remembering 1 is the lowest you can rate, so 2.5 isn't the middle point, 3 is.
it's funny cause rarran really early in said "people seem to over value cards" then they both kept lowballing a majority of the bad cards
Rarran drinking game: take a shot when he says "tough"
Roffle's reactions are just absolutely hilarious, collabs with him are always something to look forward to due to your dynamic with him!

Cutlass Courier: 3.1/5
Carnivorous Cube: 4.4/5

Rattlegore: 4.3/5
Deathstalker Rexxar: 4.7/5

Dragoncaller Alanna: 2.9/5
Bounce Around: 3.3/5
Zul’jin: 4.3/5
Galakrond Nightmare: 4.6/5
Tour Guide: 3.2/5
Barnes: 4.3/5
Kingsbane: 4.2/5
Kobold Stickyfinger: 4.0/5
Shadow Rager: 2.7/5
Prince Taldaram: 3.1/5
Shirvallah the Tiger: 4.2/5
The Caverns Below: 4.7/5
Krag’wa the Frog: 2.6/5
Arch-Villian Rafaam 4.1/5
Corridor Creeper: 3.3/5
Archbishop Benedictus: 3.2/5
