I like this idea of showing cards with an arena draft, the only problem is that it may show cards that didn't share a standard rotation, which makes them impossible to compare if you're only going to compare their performance on standard.
Yeah I super agree with this. Take the Costumed Singer vs Tar Creeper. While Tar Creeper was better in its time over the 1/1 singer CGB has no idea what the meta was like. It turns it from ranking 3 cards based on what is printed on them into rank these three cards based on how they did in different metas at vastly different points in Hearthstones history.

The ceiling on Commander Sivara is higher than Flint Firearm. Getting 3 spells that you've already cast is better than draw 3 or even draw 3 spells, because you are getting back spells that are important enough that you've already played them, meaning you are getting 3 really good cards, on average. There are 2 problems with it's use case though: 1 if you draw it too late and cannot meet the requirement of playing 3 cards, or if your hand is already full, it's effectively a dead card for several turns; however, if you are drawing Sivara too late, chances are you've stabilized and its ok if it just sits for a little. 2, and actually more detrimental to the card's value is if you draw it too early. If drawn too early, the spells you are getting back are more likely to be ok early game spells, that you are less likely to want to get an extra copy of, in comparison to the your bigger spells which will either win you the game, or stabilize you. You almost never want Sivara in your opening hand, but sometimes you get an unlucky early draw. Flint Firearm is generally good. It's a great filler card, because it's good on it's own merit, but it's also early in the rotation right now, and I can't see it holding it's value after the next expansion is added, and more cards are in the format. It is more likely than not to be powerful if played late, and in some situations can win you matchups which you otherwise would lose, but this is more rare. Overall, the ceiling is higher on Sivara, which saw play in several mage decks, not just Naga Mage (also several variations of high level/legend variations of mage decks). And was usually very strong in control matchups, because it gives you three cards that you really want, and allows you to do thing which you otherwise would not be able to do in the mage class. It's marginal, but Sivara is the better card, even though Flint Firearm is generally good (however, it's not as generally good as, for example, Astalor).
Pandaren importer was such a great card for a long time, I even still remember when it had the combo with rogue to always discover shadowstep, thus being able to play a lot of cards per turn and getting insane value from cards that benefited from it

That Deckhand. I played a lot of Caverns Quest Rogue back in the day. But how was CGB going to know that the Deckhand is often a 1-mana 5/5 with haste that you can bounce into your hand repeatedly?
bro its like one of the million circumstances where deckhand was good. every second rogue deck played it because it could get buffed with coldblood/7-mana horse/oil from gvg/keleseth/southsea captain and many others. not even talking about him pulling out patches from your deck
Triplewick Trickster is a really nice card for the upper curve of elemental mage. It really allows you to push disgusting amounts of damage when combined with tainted remnant and fireballs
I get the impression CGB didnt realize singer drew every turn, he made a similar misread in an earlier video and the way he was talking here sounds like that.
I'd argue that Bronze Gatekeeper is the better card. I joined during Descent of Dragons and I did see Elemental Allies occasionally. That said, one thing that Rarran forgot to mention is that while Bronze Gatekeeper did see a decent play in Mech decks of the time, it's also CURRENTLY in Standard cause it''s that good. Granted it got a buff when it entered the core set, but I remember getting my shit busted in by a Mech Rogue and recently when Mech Mage saw a resurgence (before rotation), I got flattened by it when Mecha Shark was good. I'll throw in Wild for extra credit, cause while it's not in general rotation because there are a lot of good mechs in wild. It does occasionally see play for the stats buff for the 2 mana 1/3 gain +1/+1 when you summon a Mech.
To comment on life sentence, it was never ran in the main deck, but it was generally one of the best discover options for mage to remove dangerous deathrattles and big minions, only overshadowed by its sister card of the set in objection. To add onto bronze gatekeeper, it was 3 mana 1/5 originally, which made it a tough add for mech hunters at the time as 1 attack was not enough for a taunt to matter. I dont think CGB got the understanding that whelp wrangler saying "get a 1/2 whelp with taunt" is not adding it to board, but instead adding it to hand.
28:29 Mech Hunter main back in rise of shadows. Rarran is right, Bronze Gatekeeper was a very meh option in the deck, mostly because it was a 1/5 at the time

I get the impression CGB didnt realize singer drew every turn, he made a similar misread in an earlier video and the way he was talking here sounds like that.
I also think he assumed the Whelp wrangler just summons the dragon insteas of adding it to your hand
I love their dynamic
Yo.. so this just ends half way? Aww man... Guess I'm going to go have to watch the VOD then!
Bit late but as someone who just listens to these things, @covertgoblue reading out the cards name, mana, stats and effect is so nice.
28:29 Mech Hunter main back in rise of shadows. Rarran is right, Bronze Gatekeeper was a very meh option in the deck, mostly because it was a 1/5 at the time
Ah I love this combo of CGB and Rarran.
8:01 Costumed singer when CTB says the art was obnoxious:
He should hear his voice line when enters the battlefield / draw a secret
Guess whOoOoOoOo? ... SPARKLE! I still hear it in my nightmares
18:02 Well, this is much more flavorful than existing Honorable kill, while also being not as niche
Me gustan un montón estos vídeos con el weón que juega Magic. Buena Rarran culiao
30:07 who remebers importer I belive it was rouge that in the funny way dominated standard (I think it dominated I just remeber this as goofy combo that should have never existed)
Loved this video!
I know you said you wouldnt play commander with CGB yet, but I love your collabs and think a Draft in Magic could be intresting
Rarran: Fogsail Freeboter wasnt part of a T1 deck.
Every Pirate Warrior or Pirate Rogue deck ever: Am i a joke to you?
Faz tanto tempo que eu não jogo arena que,eu não fazia ideia dessa mudança,escolher uma lendária logo no começo para administrar a sua run, parece uma ótima ideia
Rarru and CBT back with another banger.
Remember that time that sunfury clergy randomly received rush for absolutely no reason that even the devs were confused
Is there a CGB vid where Rarran does a MTGA bot draft?
17:00 I'm guessing you are talking about data from Standard in general, instead of checking class data, because there is no way someone say that Bloodsail Corsair was great in Mage, a class that rarely equip weapons and have no buffs whatsoever.
2,000 views in 16 minutes. Not bad Rarran, keep it up :v
While Flint is probably played more because it's a Nuetral, Commander Sivara definitely saw play for the 2 years it was in standard, not only in Naga mage either.
Fogsail Freebooter was in Quest Warrior, no? I cant remember if it was in the good version of ir or the nerfed version.
probably PTSD, supressed pirat warrior meta memorys...😅
