I think the biggest assassin change was left out of the video. It's mastery changed lol. Because of that it's scaling was cut into a third. Before 8.0 I used to have 180% damage on my poisons and now I only have 60% on poisons and bleeds. Also background tree is gonna have to hold a candlelight vigil for his fallen homie tomorrow.
Hey bro I saw you got a job from blizzard to make their new set of tutorials. I'm really happy they gave the job to you as such an outspoken member of our community. Congratulations!
It's actually pronounced, ex-SANG-gwin-ate. The definition is more or less correct, but since exsanguinate is a verb, it means "to bleed out or cause to bleed out". Anyway, good vid, pronounce it anyway you Brits want. No offense intended, just thought I'd take this rare opportunity to point out the irony of an American correcting a Brit concerning the English language. I also feel obligated to apologize, on behalf of my people, for what we have done to it. Though it could be argued that Americans have made great contributions toward the massive variety of of colorful and creative ways to insult someone else's mother, we current enjoy...
Rogue and warmode seems like win, just stealth around and get your quests done, anyone mess with ya just vanish and keep questing Get all those sweet bonuses without any stress.
It's a bit jarring seeing all the Rogues in BFA. Even if I played on a PvP server in Legion, they were a rare sight in dungeons, raids and open world content. Now they're everywhere, especially in Darkshore. I don't feel unique anymore when I play mine.
Rogues are fun but so are Feral Druids....=D +Thierry Daou Yeah you may have the demon hunter sight but how would you know a stealthy is right by you at ALL times spam "Spectral Sight" =D
Find Weakness technically isn't new. It was removed either from WoD or Legion. Can't remember. It used to be baseline passive where Sub Rogues would make the most of Eviscerate within it's window. I'm glad it's back. Should help bring back some of that old school feel.
Very nice video man! Can't remember the last time I had this much fun playing my Rogue, especially with the new War Mode system! Definetly going to main Rogue in Battle for Azeroth!
Seriously? The production in these videos is top notch, he clearly puts a lot of time into the research, writing and editing. Everyone makes small mistakes like that lol.
dirtykhazixmain Legit lol. Imagine all the work hes been doing. Surprised hes not overwhelmed. Working on his game, working on these videos for his channel, & on top of that working on videos for the official WoW channel. Cut the team some slack, they're only human.
I just switched from Outlaw to subtlety and it made me fall in love with the class again. Will still try to main something different like a Holy Paladin though since I've mained a rogue since BC. Great videos!
Thanks for the well-structured overview! It made me even more sure to stay Rogue as a main in Bfa. I started playing Wow in Legion as an Outlaw but switched into Assa a few months later and I'm quite content with the state of both speccs overall.
just as a player i thank you so much for showing people the way to icyveins, you really shouldn't be without it if you want to do anything remotely dificult in this game
One thing that you missed as a major change for assassination is that now the bleeds are affected by mastery as well as poisons. There were also several talents across the three specs you may want to re-read as they have the same name but the way the work is changed.
@Toni Tiger | "I need to know, that melody is stuck in my head for weeks now!". It's funny, because once you find the music you're looking for and hear it, then, and only then, it goes away xD
No. How bout he doesnt smash 3 specs into a single video. Instead ACTUALLY explore and attain full command of a single spec per vid. It would achieve far greater financial gains. Promise
So, back in Cata when Worgens became a playable race, I made a worgen rogue. I wanted a character I could play solo. I can't recall if Outlaw was still called Combat back then or not, but I enjoyed the character and spec enough that I got him to 83 before I left the game for the second time (shortly before MOP came out). I came back with Legion, had to relearn everything (especially the talent system implemented in MOP) and got back to play my rogue since my other two favorite characters were reserved for playing with specific friends. And Outlaw Rogue... Man, I had a blast. I took Death From Above for the sole reason that it sounded cool. And I constantly used it. I took another talent for the sole reason of it sounding cool: Cannonball Barrage. I don't care about maximizing every little thing to be the best at DPS. I play for fun, and those two talents... Man, they were so fun. They were always part of my playstyle. I used Roll The Bones all the time, I had no trouble proccing Pistol Shot, I had no trouble playing this spec at all. Until 8.0 hit. My two favorite abilities are gone, I've had to relearn how to play Outlaw, and now I feel like I've been forced into PLAYING A CERTAIN WAY. Playing A Certain Way is all well and good for certain specs (Arcane Mage for one, a spec I use on my mage when in dungeons; otherwise it's Fire all the way), but I think Outlaw was the poster child for 'play how you want.' I've gotten the hang of it, but... It's just so formulaic now. Subtlety and Assassination have never been fun for me. It's sad to see these things as I can't really enjoy the one character I could always rely on to enjoy playing.
I think my favorite thing about playing Assassination (which has been my go-to spec since level 40) is that, while it is simpler, slower, and less reactive than Outlaw or Subtlety, it's a spec where you'll do fine enough just muddling along, but sometimes you just hit a particular groove: all your dots are lining up perfectly, your resource usage is maximally efficient, everything's spaced out right, poison bomb is proccing often and your dps is climbing back up the charts. And it feels absolutely wonderful, and it's a feeling I never figured out how to get with Sub or Outlaw
Exsanguinate; Ek-Sang-gwin-ate root word being Sanguine (of or related to blood), ex (latin preposition, meaning outside) and conjugated with ate; making the word into a verb. Means taking all the blood that is in a person or thing, and moving it outside that person or thing. Words are fun.
Maining Assassination. I'm finding that there is a lot more depth than there seems to be on paper. The flow of the rotation with toxic blade talented is especially satisfying for juicy poison burst windows.
As an outlaw rogue main I'd like to say that loaded dice needs to be baseline or alacrity needs to be baked in, it's a "full haste buff" but it is so powerful and required to outlaw rogue that it dominates whatever talent tier they put it on.
great video as always man love your content but uhhh 2 things... 1- Monk video description in this video 2- When u mentioned the Fan of knives talent for assassin you used sub rogue footage just FYI :)
Bellular, your outlaw part was missing the key to bfa outlaw. There is a azerite armor trait that gives you a agility increase if you roll only one buff, which in bfa will be our best stat. So i think its going to be amazing in endgame M raids and M+. or at least i hope, im highly enjoying it in prepatch
Assassination was my favourite spec by the end of Legion. There was a good balance RNG and predictability, a really fun burst window, and plenty of things to do to sqeeze out just a bit more dps. BfA is literally just the same thing, but slightly worse. There's more reliance on RNG and a burst window that is shorter, simpler, and less interesting. Luckily, the sneaky tricks to eek out DPS remain. My suggestions for fixing it would be to make Kingsbane a lvl100 talent (begone, Poison Bomb), and make Blindside automatically follow-up Mutilate if it's used on a target marked by Vendetta. That makes Vendetta way more interesting and lets you spam Envenom for the big, satisfying numbers during your burst. Plus, it adds a bit of extra skill, since good Assa Rogues will know just how many Envenoms they can use to not cap resources, but leave enough to keep the Envenom buff up after Vendetta finishes.
Been leveling a new rogue with outlaw and it a really fun spec and a heavy hitter to those who don't like to be stealth all the time. I also haven't had as much of an issue with RtB like I did in legion or maybe the rng gods are looking out for my but I've can usually get 2 buff 80% of the time and seen 5 buff a lot more than I did in legion. I've also notice that the dreadblade ability was built into RtB as a buff which isn't great but it there.
tomislav ilic I played alliance and their were FAR more Horde there. I joined a group but the Horde group was bigger. Heck, even Lor'Danel wasn't safe. The Horde killed the guards and the flight master before killing me too. It was chaos. Good thing I was a rogue lol.
Love your videos, however most of your tips are for PVE and i personally never have gotten into PVE. Is there anyone you could recommend who has the same quality as you do but is more PVP oriented?
While some of the key spells being moved to talents or removed all together, it does kind of sting, but we must remember other classes suffered the same and worse. My prayers go out to all death knights, who now have to talent wraith walk. At least they can enjoy like, 3 seconds of walking at 100% speed though.
jon ward Actually Deaths Advance is pretty dope considering the way encounter design works in BFA. The movespeed is less important than the immunity to slows, push/pull mechanics and knockbacks.
+Farabee I can see your point I'm sorry but "Wraith Walk" should of never been thrown in the talent system it should of stayed baseline it's bad enough that dk's are the least mobile class in the game and that's bad at least "Wraith Walk" helped a little with that problem. Yes people like to argue "well they have death grip" but that has nothing to do with being mobile more like a quick closer like a warriors charge just in reverse and that's IF your close enough lol besides it seems more like Blizzard just needed something to fill a gap left by removing a talent and chose what they thought was the least used talent boy were they wrong.
noticed that using mutilate in stealth only gives one combo point; out of stealth gives 2+ (depending on crits)...is this a bug or should mut not be used in stealth?
also, weaponmaster caught an overall nerf. it used to be a 6% chance for ANY ability to strike twice. so it could proc on your death from above which was a huge hit
i mained sub in legion because there were lots of high cliffs and they were the only rogue spec that didn't take fall damage, seems like its still fun but i'm gonna miss death from above
As a rogue player for about 7 years, I enjoy all three specs. Outlaw is my least favorite, but the simplicity means I can pick it up and use it pretty much whenever. Some azerite traits are going to make the RNG of RtB less painful, and the whole pirate theme is a theme that resonates with me well Assassination hasn’t got many changes from legion, and the removal of Kingsbane sucks. It took some finesse to maximize your damage output. With the changes to mastery and haste, it makes it so Assassination scales even harder with gear. Subtlety, on the other hand, has flown under the radar for most rogues, but it’s a spec I’m going to re-learn(mastered the spec in WoD, then it got changed so I never picked it up again) it has good aoe with insane priority damage, and they didn’t nerf the shuriken storm+evis combo. All three specs are viable and have their pros and cons, but I can say I’m happy with everything rogue and can’t wait to go into BfA and tackle content with all the tools rogue has to offer.
I switched from Sub to Ass in Legion because I wasn't a fan of the changes and Assassination feels most like the old school rogue. But Sub looks like it might be nice again so I might check it.
I'd much prefer it if roll the bones laster significantly shorter, but was automatically cast when you use Dispatch. You wouldn't have to worry about re-rolling because you wouldn't have a choice.
So I've discovered something in war mode for sub rogues. You can effectively make your crit chance at 50% if you spec right. Combine with the 25% damage increase and find weakness giving a strong percentage to bypass armor, and you're a killing machine.
The pvp talent is called Phantom Assassin. From there it's Find Weakness, Shadow Focus, Deeper Strategem, Soothing Darkness, Night Terrors, Dark Shadow, and Secret Techniques.
I’m a bit disappointed you didn’t say the one you enjoyed most... you were burdened by two and gave a thumbs up to the other 🤷🏻♂️. I just needed you to say, “At this point if I had to choose for overall gameplay I’d choose “said” spec!” 😔
dont really like the emphasis on what are "meta" talents when considering if the class is fun or not. especially with how volatile things are this early in the xpac
Bitter Comments it's completely different. Talent trees are gone, you puck a spec and get the specialty talent from bank in the day at lvl1. Less complexity
so, does elemental damage still bypass armor? Because if it does, Subtlety will be awesome for PVP. If it doesn't, why does this rogue spec deal so much of it? Purely a mechanic to interact with something like a shadow priest?
Honestly i feel that your outlaw verdict did not live up to your usual verdicts. There are a lot of Slice & Dice players. You said nothing about it's viability compared to RoB in the verdict ;O
#showtooltip /cast [form]Shadowstrike;Backstab Use that macro on both bars to solve the bar swap lag issue. If you have ElvUI you can also set it to stay on your nonstealth action bar during shadow dance. Since you're really not gonna be casting the other stealth crap during it. That's what I do. I just have another macro just like this one for Kidney Shot and Cheap Shot in case I ever need to use that during Shadow Dance also.
Poor Bell. Trying to pump these put as fast as possible. Btw, it's eck-sang-win-eight. It means to completely drain of blood. Hence the doubling of the bleed ticks.
I still feel Roll the Bones is outright stupid. I remember having like the same buff like 4 times in a row. Also the Buffs controll the way you have to play and you spend combopoints on it. It should be either clear from the icon before you press it (so you have kind of controll when you use it, like with the Surv-Bomb-Talent) . Also I think it shouldnt be random. So 1 buff is always the same, 2 buffs are always the same, 3 buffs...and so on and adrenaline rush just adds a buff. This spec might be fun but you cant play it competitive without gear and luck....thats not cool. Since classic I liked combat and I like the concept of the swashbuckler it has become...but the mechanics made me play more with daggers now :(
Yeahhh as soon as i got to slice and dice, i took it. Rtb is just far too random for the rng to be worth it. The dropoff of dps when using it is painfully obvious when your own healer starts out dpsing you, and you just fall farther and farther behind. At least with slice and dice you can control how much damage youll be doing at a point in time, with rtb you could roll maybe like one good hand in a dungeon, and with how much the universe enjoys irony, it would happen when everything is already dead.
Im sorry but saying that DfA being missing isnt that important is a massive understatement, especially later on in legion lining up all of your buffs and then DfA'ing into then a shadow-dance was your core damage it was practically the linchpin of the rotation and after its removal and the dumbing down of the spec, Sub just feels empty
Outlaw is fun but it feels like it isn't the best pick for dps, sometimes you get crazy crits and sometimes you get nothing. I wish combat rogue was still in wow.
Leveling assassination rogue on beta with war mode on, at level 115, I got attacked by a 120 warrior. Now, I don't main rogue but somehow was able to melt that warrior down with some hp to spare. I had mostly greens a couple of blues and 1 azerite gear. Either assassination rogues are gods or that warrior was just bad, or warriors in general are not very good right now. Either way, in this is new world where you can beat players 5 levels above you, finding the best class/spec is a thing. My two cents.
thank you for putting just the tinyest bit of negativity in here about rogues. you know you have a huge influence and this might help to bring balance to the amount of people playing rogue/warrior for FOTM
fortunately, ass rogue is my alt and my backup for BFA... but iam really not enjoying it all, its very slow because of resource management and constant dot application (and just keeping track of dots in general). I have seen it go nuts with empowered garrotes with the t20 set however.
0:00-9:33 Outlaw
9:33-18:56 Subtlety

MVP right here
That's hard to see man
not all heroes wear capes
Their is a special place in heaven for you!
Labbee MVP
I feel Icy Veins is the best help for anyone who has no idea how to use their spec or unsure on specifics. Definitely would recommend to anyone.
As someone who has frequently left WoW for lengthy periods of time, I absolutely love their guides. I also like that they have a basic tl;dr mini-guide with each one to help you jump right in, and far more in-depth coverage of everything for when you really want to crunch the numbers and get into the guts of a class and spec.
Sacxoople they won’t update pvp talents tho
They're great, however I wish their mobile design was better
Thanks for pushing out these videos out so fast about each class before BFA launch so far so good
I think the biggest assassin change was left out of the video. It's mastery changed lol. Because of that it's scaling was cut into a third. Before 8.0 I used to have 180% damage on my poisons and now I only have 60% on poisons and bleeds.

I’m surprised it took Bell this long to get to rogue... I mean let’s not forget what he does when there is no WoW news.
James Lord well at least he’s busy making videos with BfA...let’s hope blizz keeps putting content out.
Hey bro I saw you got a job from blizzard to make their new set of tutorials. I'm really happy they gave the job to you as such an outspoken member of our community. Congratulations!
A Worgen
Outlaw Rogue
In Lightforged gear.
This is unwatchable
Not lightforged buckwheat
"Windwalker, Brewmaster and Windwalker Monk" Wow that is some neat rogue
Bel, the lvl 90 assassination talent Exsanguinate is pronounced Ex-sang-gwin-ate. It means drained of blood.
DeadnCold he is from Northern Ireland they say things differently and are cool for it. 🇮🇪
Its not a hard word to pronounce lol
thats right sir
It's actually pronounced, ex-SANG-gwin-ate. The definition is more or less correct, but since exsanguinate is a verb, it means "to bleed out or cause to bleed out". Agreed, I didn't like the Sub changes in Legion so I switched to Assassination but I may give it another go.
Very nice video man! Can't remember the last time I had this much fun playing my Rogue, especially with the new War Mode system! Definetly going to main Rogue in Battle for Azeroth!
Bellular, you used monk description for video lol
Purriah 101 not to mention it has windwalker 2 times and no mistweaver
Shame how quickly these are rushed out.
Well he's gotta pay his bills

I preferred Saber Slash and Run Through personally.
Saber slash made sense with the artifact weapon which ware sabers but when you equip an axe or mace or other type of sword the name seems silly.
One thing that you missed as a major change for assassination is that now the bleeds are affected by mastery as well as poisons. There were also several talents across the three specs you may want to re-read as they have the same name but the way the work is changed.
This guide makes me want to try a Rogue again. Tried to in the past and could never stick with it, but now it looks really good
6:08 15:38 24:46 whats that flute music? I need to know, that melody is stuck in my head for weeks now!
I think it's one of the zones music. I don't know more than this, you have to search which one.
Did not even thought about zone music. Thanks!
@Toni Tiger | Hope you have found it.
@Toni Tiger | "I need to know, that melody is stuck in my head for weeks now!".
It's funny, because once you find the music you're looking for and hear it, then, and only then, it goes away xD
Assassination bleeds and poisons aren't the only rogue dots that scale with haste, so does Subtlety's Night Blade.
Slow down man. Everything is okay.
It's a method of keeping you entertained and to get you to re-watch it.
If he were to talk slower, he'd make about half the money he does now.
Amateur.
Watch the video in 2.0x speed!!!
I mean, if he took out all of his "Um's Em's and Erm's" he could get the video down to about 10 mins.
I watch at 1.5x because a lot of words get lost at 2x speed due to the way clipping works. :/
No. How bout he doesnt smash 3 specs into a single video. Instead ACTUALLY explore and attain full command of a single spec per vid. It would achieve far greater financial gains. Promise

The only good class for Warmode tbh. For me, vanish and grappling hook were a PERFECT escape from dying in Darkshore.
Antonio joining a group is as well

You could try going to stormwind and reseting warmode so that you get into a different shard
Antonio So it was YOU who kept running away from my harpoon and flare ! ( or the other load of y’a )
Real hunters mark is back and says hello.

Anyone can tell me what weapons the Outlaw rogue is using? Looks so cool like the hidden blades of Assasins Creed. Thanks for your replies.
Rogue isn't a class that I've ever considered playing but I may actually try one out sometime soon.
You can get 1-3 buff with roll the bones now? not 1-2 or all 5?
i mained sub in legion because there were lots of high cliffs and they were the only rogue spec that didn't take fall damage, seems like its still fun but i'm gonna miss death from above
2:33 "Roll the Balls"
As a rogue player for about 7 years, I enjoy all three specs. Outlaw is my least favorite, but the simplicity means I can pick it up and use it pretty much whenever. Some azerite traits are going to make the RNG of RtB less painful, and the whole pirate theme is a theme that resonates with me well
Assassination hasn’t got many changes from legion, and the removal of Kingsbane sucks.
What about assa mastery buff? Did they remove it or u just forgot?
Saber slash/run through having their names reverted was weird and dumb but I like the rest of the outlaw changes. Blade rush is particularly fun.
I'd much prefer it if roll the bones laster significantly shorter, but was automatically cast when you use Dispatch.
You wouldn't have to worry about re-rolling because you wouldn't have a choice.
Is it worth to play now rogue lvl 90 ? Thinking to lvl it up to 120
So I've discovered something in war mode for sub rogues. You can effectively make your crit chance at 50% if you spec right. Combine with the 25% damage increase and find weakness giving a strong percentage to bypass armor, and you're a killing machine.
What are all of your talent choices? Could you share them?
The pvp talent is called Phantom Assassin. From there it's Find Weakness, Shadow Focus, Deeper Strategem, Soothing Darkness, Night Terrors, Dark Shadow, and Secret Techniques.
What is his action bar addon?
Is it so much changes than rogue lvl90?
I’m a bit disappointed you didn’t say the one you enjoyed most... you were burdened by two and gave a thumbs up to the other 🤷🏻♂️. I just needed you to say, “At this point if I had to choose for overall gameplay I’d choose “said” spec!” 😔
Love all your videos, but could you make a video on Jaina warbrings, I'd like to hear your interpretation :)
Where can i find the UI u use :)?
Can someone tell me what armor the Rogue on the Thumbnail is wearing ?
what is the name of the nameplate addon ?
I've been mut since TBC. Don't think I'll be respeccing my rogue anytime soon. Sad that Kingsbane got nipped in the bud. But we'll get over it. :)
dont really like the emphasis on what are "meta" talents when considering if the class is fun or not. especially with how volatile things are this early in the xpac
Been playing the same rogue for 12+ years. Thug lyfe
How does this class fare compared to how it was back in, like, TBC? (Last time I played one)
Bitter Comments it's completely different. Talent trees are gone, you puck a spec and get the specialty talent from bank in the day at lvl1. Less complexity
Carter Cauthon Dude I play the game still. I just wanted to know if they were still a strong class or if they were weak now. Lol.
Bitter Comments Rogues have been and always will be a strong class.
so, does elemental damage still bypass armor?
Because if it does, Subtlety will be awesome for PVP.
If it doesn't, why does this rogue spec deal so much of it? Purely a mechanic to interact with something like a shadow priest?
I wish Sub's catlike reflexes talent had been made baseline for the spec lol.
Hey man can you link your UI profile it looks almost like mine (but better hehe)
what addons are you using?
Hey Bellu-chan. You are ready to put an instant video after the reveal on tuesday ?
Matsumae I wouldn’t be surprised if he prerecorded stuff and will play whichever video ends up being correct
LOL that sounds about right.
Playing outlaw gives you the best hearthstone experience
I liked Saber Slash better than Sinister Strike, added more to the pirate theme of the spec. I don't really see why they needed to change it.
Finally, the one I’ve been waiting for
New to wow, anyone know what add-ons/ui he's using?
Can we get your ui config?
you talk about the rouge in legion but what about it in the argus thingy
Honestly i feel that your outlaw verdict did not live up to your usual verdicts. There are a lot of Slice & Dice players. You said nothing about it's viability compared to RoB in the verdict ;O
Yessss ! My class !! thank you !
#showtooltip
/cast [form]Shadowstrike;Backstab
Use that macro on both bars to solve the bar swap lag issue.
Im sorry but saying that DfA being missing isnt that important is a massive understatement, especially later on in legion lining up all of your buffs and then DfA'ing into then a shadow-dance was your core damage it was practically the linchpin of the rotation and after its removal and the dumbing down of the spec, Sub just feels empty
this ui available for dl?
I hope it is decent to level Outlaw, I saved a name for my future Kul’Tiran Rogue Captain Garloff Stormhull!
They should rename outlaw to Knavery
Ikue P Assassination Rogue is one of the strongest “broken” classes on beta and warriors aren’t great in 1v1 for the most part.
I can second that, on 8.0 live, I just killed a 110 frost DK at 101 as assassination when I was ganked during invasions lol.
What build are you running? Just curious.
I think this all comes down to the scaling system. It's just as if you and your target are at the same level, to some extent.
in war mode in beta it scales u to 120. Normalizes stats like in instanced pvp
thank you for putting just the tinyest bit of negativity in here about rogues. you know you have a huge influence and this might help to bring balance to the amount of people playing rogue/warrior for FOTM
Love my Assassination rogue.
exsanguinate means to drain all of the blood out of something, like a person, if you're a vampire it's a thing you do in normal every day life!
Want me some druid!
Can’t you just turn on war mode and use death from above??? In pve
fortunately, ass rogue is my alt and my backup for BFA... but iam really not enjoying it all, its very slow because of resource management and constant dot application (and just keeping track of dots in general). I have seen it go nuts with empowered garrotes with the t20 set however.
Removing curse was equivalent to a full outlaw rogue nerf, I'm glad it saved blizzard time .
rogue is my best love class
losing kingsbane was not nice, its dmg was massive, still my favorite spec in the game though
