    “Pests”? “Nuisance”? I say panfish are fun and probably the easiest way to get kids into fishing! They definitely played a part in my fishing life and my lifelong love of the hobby! They’re still fun to catch now! 🎣

    Lieterly me a few months ago I didn’t care about fishing. Then I went on a trip with my family up north and I started to like it. A day later we went to my uncles and we fished a private lake we caught 50 8+ inchers and I caught a 10.5 inch bluegill that’s getting mounted and I’m hooked on fishing now I would like to bass fish soon

    Panfish fight and bite like no other, get an ultralight rod and you'll catch so many fish and have a lot of fun doing it!

      You are right! They're totally underrated by most Anglers. Imagine if Bluegill got to 5 pounds or more like Bass, they'd pull your arm out!!

    I’m primarily a saltwater fisherman, I love fishing off of jetties, rocky shorelines, surf fishing and the occasional charter boat trip. I’ve been getting my son into fishing and just been having him target little trout and panfish while I go for bigger bass in the ponds and lakes. Recently I decided to get an ultralight rod and reel setup and just target these panfish too so I could better understand how to get him on some fish, well it turns out that catching these panfish on ultralight gear is a freaking blast! There are so many of them, and on ultralight gear they fight well, and they taste great especially battered and deep fried.
    Obviously the old bobber and worm setup works good, but I’ve found the most fun and equally productive method is fishing super tiny soft plastic jigs, particularly the trout/panfish/crappie magnets. They can be fished in many different ways, they’re cheap, incredibly effective and you’ll be able to catch not just panfish but also nice trout and the occasional smaller but still hard fighting bass.
    So while my favorite method is still saltwater fishing, I’ve gotta say that targeting these smaller panfish is a ton of fun, and it’s nice to be able to bring that ultra light setup and make my lake fishing trips “skunk proof” because I always get at least a half dozen of em every time haha.

    They are fun to catch and great to eat. And with very few people fishing for them, you usually don't have much competition on the waters. Love this sport.

    Pan fish are fun and good eating. If you're looking for a battle, a challenge, use ultra light gear or a light fly rod with 2 or 4 pound test line.
    If you go about it in the right way, perch, blue gills, sunfish, etc. Can be every bit as fun as bass, northerns, etc.

    I love panfish. Catching them and eating them. When fishing becomes all about catching big ass fish, it loses something

    Secretly enjoying? I go fishing ONLY to catch bluegill. Easy fish to catch, literally just drop a worm in the water and let them bite. NO SKILL.

    What is the highest expense when you fish? Travelling costs! That cost does not exist if you fish bluegills! They are every where! Great way to spend quality time with your grand children! As now we catch and release all fishes who care about their size. Ok if you are a cry baby you can catch some big ones. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!

    Once considered a nuisance???
    Wrong.
    Been fishing & eating perch for forty years. In fact, thousands upon thousands of anglers target these tasty fishes on Lake Michigan.

    • @thefish-eyeview7733
      @thefish-eyeview7733  2 роки тому +4

      Did you watch the whole video, or just click off on that line? I'm talking about the years up to 1970 when most anglers were after big game. I'm an old guy and have been fishing for 60 years - not just 40. I know what I'm talking about. My video, IN FACT, glorifies Panfish and how great they are...something I knew right from my earliest days, even when others laughed at me. So why nit pick??
