Good stuff all around. Glad the Backstop recoil pad is a good product. U.S.A. & one of our gun guys. Thank you.

I considered replacing the recoil pad on my Remington Model 7 in 7SAUM with the Backfire but Instead I replaced it with a Limbsaver for $29.95. It made a big difference and decided not to thread my barrel for a brake.

I’d like to see a side by side comparison of a limb saver vs a backstop pad

To me, the needs a coincidental. A softer pad allows you to see impacts better because the muzzle flip is possibly less. Pain has to be considered, too. Normally, I store my rifles muzzle down.
I have my 7 PRC in an Oryx and a Limbsaver Airtech slip-on, which feels fine. It reduces it to a pushy, not jabby, .308 feel.
I watched Jim's demo video with his wife and the 7 PRC and it worked out fine. Especially convincing was the graph. I have two rifles in Oryx Chassis and one an MDT LSS Gen 2 with SCS butt stock. I might get at least one and migrate it as needed.

When I used to hunt with old military metal plate buttstocks the Pachmayr slip over absolutely works. Secure with 'tape' for hunting. And for those heavier rounds I'd invent something to protect the shoulder in the field good piece a rubberised foam might do the job... laughs..I'd even try to glue it to my shirt if it worked.

How does it compare to the AG composite recoil pads? I would not want a 300, 280, 7 PRC with a standard factory recoil pad.

"Massive difference"?? How so? Does it allow you to hold the scope on target and be able to see your impacts? I'm MUCH more concerned with being able to stay on target and spot my own impacts than I am concerned about how it "feels" on my shoulder. It's gonna be very hard to beat the Limbsaver pads.

Higher felt recoil equals increased shooter fatigue over a shorter period of time, if it works for you then stick with it. Like I said in the video it made my .270 Winchester feel like a 6.5 Creed and the load is 61grs of H831SC so yes that’s a massive difference.

unless you are only referencing price differences, Limbsaver brand pads aren't all that great.

One shot means nothing. Go shoot a match with 1-2 hundred rounds and then tell us you notice a difference. I can shoot a 4 bore once, but not a hundred times.

Nonsense. Anyone with multiple rifles probably has one that is relatively punishing compared to others. When felt recoil is reduced, a person will notice very quickly. Otherwise, you just don’t know your rifle.
