Love what Jim and the team are doing here. It’s just insane that one key interface between shooter and rifle has been so neglected while people spend hundreds of dollars on the latest and greatest muzzle device 😁 I hope they scale and maybe get a licensing deal with one of the known brands. Would be super cool if that was an optional add on with MDT or a rifle manufacturer
I am glad your creating solution now. I sent a message already on your websight. But I was thinking you could create a grip adapter out of rubber maybe. That would give you the "pistol" grip angle you like. You could make them to attach to the Ruger Americans for one. Or for the rifle in this video even. Its another practical idea that I cant find anywhere.
just installed the Backstop on my Tikka SuperLite 6.5 Creedmoor and it removed at least 50% percent of the recoil! I know the 6.5 is fairly light recoiling, but the hotter loads in the SuperLite Tikka thumped pretty good! this Backstop pad I can't recommend more! USA made makes it even more Awesome!! Jim ships fast, you won't be dissappointed!
Okay, got three Tikkas. Two original T3 Lite SS and one T3X Lite SS. All with the Limbsavers. The Limbsavers are nice, but they are getting old and gummy. 😢😢😢
I have a t3x in 30-06 with no muzzle break. This was about 3 months before your video where you recommended the bergara in 30-06 over the tikka specifically due to the recoil in the tikka. Doh! Pre backstop era, you recommended a limbsaver. I changed out the recoil pad to the limbsaver and it made a big difference. How much better is the backstop?
I haven’t say I was skeptical about this making a difference on my 308. I shot it today for the first time since changing to this and am a believer. My Tikka is more enjoyable to shoot. I barely felt any recoil. Before I would have a sore shoulder just shooting 6 rounds. Shot six and it was night and day difference. Even on bipods I hit 109 and 200 yards easily on all shots. This is an awesome product for sure.
i got a friend to shoot my t3x 308......with no brake on the front, and it tore him a new one. lol. I didnt know the factory brake was that important to have on it! that and the limbsaver makes it feels like a 243 now. shoots perfect.
I'll probably order one for my tikka but I'm thinking about going to a greyboe stock so I'll hold off for now. But my t3x is unthreaded and it's light so it bucks a little.
Awesome video! I will be ordering one soon. I am thinking of getting my T3x Lite 06 threaded 1/2x28 for a huxwrx qd brake. Have you heard of or had a lite 30 cal barrel threaded 1/2x28 before? I have heard mixed things on the feasibility. Thanks!
Just ordered a tikka T3x laminated stainless in 308. I’ll def think about changing out the stock pad for the back stop one! Out of curiosity what rings are on that rifle setup and what size is the front objective on that scope? 50 or 56mm?
Looks amazing, I have a Tikka T3x 7mm Rem Mag and I completely agree with the recoil and barrel up comments you make. I ordered one at the conclusion of the video. Cannot wait to try it out. BTW - I love my Tikka, so please with it in everyway other than the recoil pad. I put a Sig BDX scope on it and cannot believe how well it works with their BDX class range finders.
@@MTDub99 It works great. It makes the gun totally manageable with max powder charges. BTW, I used the Sig BDX system for a while and it is a bust. The range finder is really hit and miss at ranging targets. Especially dark colored critters. I ended up putting an Arken SH-4J 6-24X50 FFP scope on it and getting a Vortex range finder. I have a 300 PRC on order and will be putting one of these recoil pads on it as well.
Only just discovered your second channel, not sure how i missed this! You've mentioned a few times in your main, but i just never clicked over to check it out. Anyhow, glad to find it, great content!
It is very subjective to the person shooting the gun. The stock dictates a lot of it, the pad is an aid in reducing recoil as well. The classic Remington stock vs a European hogsback vs a lever action like an1886 is pretty illustrative, materials make a difference. There is a way to build a gun to dampen recoil, there there is a way not to do it.
Hi Backfire crew are you makinh the Backstop recoil pad for the Weatherby AccruMark in 338-378 wby magnum , I love the gun , hate the bite , Ive handloaded for over fifty years I enjoy the thought you put in all your videos by the way all of horadays newer cartridges are remake of oler cartridges 7prc holds the same volum as the 7mm WSM ,300prc =300 Weatherby 6.5 prc =6.5 -06 & 6.5 -284 22and 6mm ARC RE the 22PPC &6mmPPC AND so on
I can't help but recall learning to shoot. 15 years old, there was more meat on the butchers pencil than hanging off my bones. Lee Enfield 303. Even wood was too soft, they inlaid it with brass 😢 Hard times, hard men, you guys know the rest.
I love the idea of the backstop pad, but is the performance of it just an approximation based on numbers of weights or could you manufacture a better one specific to an individual rifle if a customer sent you there rifle to test?
Like the idea of this but at 150 plus cdn after taxes and duties , i will probably go the my local store and get a 60 cdn limbsaver. Maybe one day if the price drops or it becomes available locally
I watched your video and ordered a backstop for my Tikka. However, except the shape is similar to the one in your video, the one that I got is really tough and hard, and the material is definitely not rubber. I don't think it improves any much compared to the factory one. I think it will be a housing of mud or dust.
Me too. I've told the company many times that they really need to thread the barrels on all their guns now. It's expected on a rifle by today's standards.
I have the T3x with the wood chassis in .308 and had a local gunsmith thread my barrel to 9/16 for a shrewd muzzle brake. It has the sporter barrel which is not thick enough for the common 5/8 thread and 1/2 thread would have thinned the wall too much. The brake is .22 caliber and can be opened up for .30 cal. It’s a sweet rifle and yes I will be changing recoil pad. Not sure which one yet, still researching.
Hey jim are these available in Canada? And also do u make one for the Tikka T3X compact the pad is alittle smaller then the reg T3X full size stock. Thanks
What would the backstop pad wright for a T3x lite 6.5 CM (factory synthetic stock) that weighs 8.5 pounds scoped with bipod? How thick is the pad? This video, your website, and places online have conflicting answers.
I am curious where you mount the recoil detection. You apeak of the scope impact from the recoil. Are you measuring at the scope or the recoil pad. If at the pad your are measuring recoil to the shooter, not recoil at the scope. You have provided so much great info on your channel. Want to be confident in this data too.
Agree. The plot of reduction vs time for the two recoil pads is misleading as well. Notice that the time duration for the Tika was .3s whereas the duration for the Backstop was .9s. I’d like to see the data with the curves with the same time scale.
I have a beretta brx1 . I called, emailed , and left a message to see if you guys make a recoil pad for my beretta. The website doesn’t give the beretta option. Will the tikka option work ?
Do you have a model for the T3X Lite COMPACT model? I’ve tried a couple of other pads that that state they are universal but they are all too large. I assume the stock dimension without the additional length spacer installed is smaller than a traditional T3X.
Interesting. We have shipped out a TON of recoil pads for Tikka and I can't confirm that we for sure have had someone try it on the compact, but I can at least say we haven't had someone tell us it DIDN'T work on the compact. Might as well buy it and try. If it doesn't fit, we'll obviously take care of you right away.
@@BackfireVLOGS I have a Tikka T3x with a compact 12.5 inch length of pull stock. The recoil pad on the compact is much smaller than the Full size T3x (13.75 inch LOP.) The only option for a different recoil pad on a T3x Compact, is a grind to fit. If you could make a recoil pad to fit those Tikka T3x compacts, I believe that they would be a very good seller, because right now there really is no option for the compact. I have both full length and compact Tikka T3x stocks, and have looked everywhere for a better recoil pad solution for the compact to no avail! I have called Limb Saver and talked to them on the phone etc.
This is a 6.5 Creedmoor. Results are generally a bit more dramatic looking in the heavier hitting cartridges, but it's just what I had on hand to show.
Alot of people would have less recoil if they actually held their guns instead of just resting it on the shoulder and pulling the trigger. ua-cam.com/video/nIS_Y4kLEN4/v-deo.html

bought one and got it a month or so ago to go on my super light 300prc in a HNT26 chassis.... can confirm it works as advertised! highly recomment
Looking forward to UK availability! Looks like a great well designed product
I'd be curious to see how the BackStop competes with the LimbSaver AirTech and the FalconStrike for example. A detailed battle of the recoil pads.
Looks like a great product, great job guys. For those wondering it is $90.
Well within reason, in my opinion
money well spent IMHO
