*The reason I used the Japanese Dub in this video because I know that there's already a video here in YT about Rebecca that's using the English one so I thought to myself "Why not upload the one that uses the Japanese VA?". That's why you get this video and now you have 2 options in this platform that you can watch, the English Dubbed and the Japanese Dubbed. I honestly like both versions, the voice actors and actresses killed it. :D*

See this is why I think this is actually better than the actual game story because in this story doesn't feel like the main character is being dragged along by other people and it's really more about these other people's stories it kind of feels like okay this is the choices this character made and this is what it let him down
We're in the game it's like you're on a rail and you're just kind of going following Johnny silver Hanson's psycho but it's your story and it's like it's not it's not your story it's it's Johnny silverhand kind of just taking over and it may be an interesting story but it's not like it's your story really it's not as an open story where every decision you make matters because you're going to have such a fastly different ending kind of like how an armored core games depending on what missions you took you would end up with very different bosses and games like last Raven

11:14 Made me tear up. She knew the man she loved wasn’t coming back nor going anywhere but inevitable death. But she decided to stick with him till the end.
She knew they may not come back from whatever happens next, but rather than see him go psycho, she decided to go “psycho” with him and attack Arasaka. Partners to the bitter end.
She may not have been David’s lover, but she was his best friend.

@@supersoldier3700 yeah, it’s sad to see she never got the chance, but the fact that she was the one who tried seriously talking sense in David more than anyone and still stayed by his side to the very end. While she wasn’t able to be his girlfriend, she was definitely more than just a friend.
The moment David call Rebecca "mom", I see how much Rebecca cared for David through her responds. It just makes her character more profound and yes, more heartbreaking when she died.
What got me is that Rebecca knew that she and David would almost certainly die during this gig, and she didn't have to think about it for even a second. It was pretty much her plan all along; she was always going to be with David until the end.
The look on her face when she saw a delirius David talking to his mom was not one of surprise... she just seemed a little sad that it happened so soon.

You missed the part when Rebecca said that she will follow David everywhere even through hell. That line hits so much harder after her death, such a badass, loyal and noble soul of her, such a friend we all need in our life!

Both Rebecca and Lucy were there for David. One did what she could as a solo and the other did what she could as a netrunner. I think maybe Rebecca trusted him too much in some ways while Lucy didn’t trust him enough in others.
I think in Lucy's case, at least by the latter half, she's grown pretty desperate to protect David from Arasaka stemming from her long-term trauma since childhood, and doesn't wanna lose what she cherished most at that time.
Telling him her plans would've likely make things difficult for her as she figured he might try to stop her when it's the only way she knows to stop Arasaka from tracking him down and taking him.

@@doctorpringles12 She had reasons for handling the situation the way she did, and she did everything with David’s best interests in mind, but she didn’t trust him with the info she had, she didn’t trust him to survive as an edgerunner, and the list goes on.
Yeah, I like both becc and Lucy a lot. Becc grew on me a lot as well when she actually got worried for David because of the insane amount of meds he was taking and even tried to stop him from using the cyberskeleton or even got worried about his constant freezing mid fights.
Rebecca really stayed true to herself. Always warm. Always crazy. Best girl.

That line where she says she watches david more than anyone is the sweetest line ever. She really wanted to protect this dude. A real one
It was 11:14 that really cemented Rebecca as my favorite character in Edgerunner. It’s one of the most human moments I’ve seen in Cyberpunk. Realizing that the end of the road is near but going with your choom to the bitter end, all the way to the top.
Rebecca was the female version of Jackie and both of their deaths hit hard

It’s really cool how they animated her post-timeskip. You can see at multiple points (especially when she’s kicking people) how top-heavy she is due to her huge arms. It’s like it’s easier for her to balance on her knuckles than on her feet, so she uses her hands to “stand” on and her feet to manipulate/attack.
I also love how it is a reaction to her failing to wield heavy weapons against the psycho, before the time skip using a shotgun made her fly, after time sjip she dual wield them.

The moment Arasaka was involved and considering the fact that there is no such thing as a "happy ending" in Night City - it was only a matter of time before Adam Smasher strolled in and annihilated the team.
I'm an outsider to the Cyberpunk franchise, but in my opinion, the only thing that could come close to being a happy ending in Night City is if it went bankrupt and everybody left.
@@andrewbrigmond8784 knowing the lore, unfortunately even if the official city went bankrupt, the city would still run as is because it was never the top players.
The only good ending is getting the hell out of that city.

Rebecca’s death was the lost emotionally shocking for me, really hit deep. She was totally my favorite character.
Coming at this anime first hearing her in the role of Phos from Houseki no Kuni (and caught up on manga) kinda made it skip a couple of ribs and just go straight to the heart for me lol
I really dont grow attached to characters often but she was one of them that I did and damn the writers hit me with a sledgehammer of sadness when she died
Her death was the only one that actually made me go "Nooooo!!!". Every other death felt like a natural progression of the story but Becca's felt so dirty in comparation.

The David Martinez drink at the Afterlife is a good addition, but I also think the other main characters who died deserve their own drinks, even Pilar, Dorio, and Maine.
From what i have heard the david drink was in the game waaay before the anime....there was a yt video thats 7 months old of a guy asking who tf is david :)))

Maine and Dorio were probably the only ones who are famous enough to earn one, sadly

Last episode is where Becca's character shone, she didn't shed any jealousy against Lucy but she was there for David when Lucy couldn't. She was already content that she was with David doing missions as best friend even though she said she wasn't good at staying friends. I really liked Lucy but Becca has a special place in my heart. RIP You beautiful little demon 😭
Her love for David was truly unconditional just like Lucy's, they both loved David unconditionally, Rebecca would stay by David's side no matter what even if he never loved her back, and Lucy would love David no matter what as well, she put her own safety in jeopardy to protect him from Arasaka

11:39 I love this part. She loved David and it was extremely obvious, and David loved her too, just not in that way. He only had eyes for Lucy, and I feel like at this point, after trying so hard to make moves on David, she accepted that it just wasn't meant to happen. But even then, their relationship was always much more than romance, they were true friends. David trusted her enough to tell her about the medicine, and she had his back all the way through. Man she was such a cool character and Adam just had to put her on a shirt right as they were in the home stretch.

Im just so shocked with her death, getting stomped like that, not even some final chitchat with David. It's like my soul got ripped in half then put through a fucking blender, fed to dogs, shitted out, got stepped on and burned, and the ashes go through the same process until there's nothing left. I know there's no such thing as happy endings but I was hoping they'd make an exception. Cause I really, and I mean REALLY REALLY REALLY adored her character. Really did make me tear up to see her in such a state

It was hinted David will die anyway. When he repeatedly called his mom and said he will be on the top of the Arasaka tower, it was a homage to White Heat（1949）where James Cagney, the protagonist/villain dies he called out from a gigantic gas tank“Made it Ma！Top of the world！”and lit himself up
Huh didn’t notice that, in the anime community what we have to base this off of is the fact that it was animated by studio trigger so these type of endings are extremely common like they make them very similar so it was within expectation they all get picked off 1 by 1 plus whenever it’s a gang oriented show and we see how they get picked off it’s clear to see the. Trope they’re trying to do so very predictable cinematography I guess I would say still 8/10 show though

I was hoping she’d be one of the survivors in the end. I was literally laughing not even a second before her death, thinking it was just another classic Becca moment and then “hahaHAWHAT THE FU**?!”

It’s refreshing to hear a normal-ish, lower timbre on a character design that normally would have went with the usual squeaky, cutesy, voice we’ve been accustomed to with anime. I love her voice in the English dub too 👍🏼

It was a sad ending, but they really did open it up to many possibilities and I appreciate that much more than a happy ending. If you've played the game you can already imagine the many ways a sequel could go. OR they could just make many different small legend stories of night city like this which have the recurring theme that mega corps like Arasaka are op for a reason.

When I saw they would fight Adam I knew some of them would die since V Is the one who took care of him. Seeing him fight David and beating him so easily with all the implants David had really showed me how strong V is. Kinda wish there was an animated fight of V and Adam so we could see how badass V is to kill something like Adam.
V had the experience of Johnny and help of the Aldacados! She was badass! Female V going into Arasaka with Panam is the true canon for me!
I chose that cuz I didn't want Rogue to die.
Even more so when you flatline him via hammer to the skull plating.

Never saw Rebecca as a love interest for David but it was very clear that she cared for him in a genuine way that isn't built for the world of Cyberpunk.

I guess many people would genuinely like to meet Becka in game.
If anyone deserves 'Silverhand treatment' it would likely be her.
If smasher was involved, his bosses could have easily pulled a Jackie on her. Could literally be a plot in season 2 if they wanted. I have heard of FAR Stupider ways of bringing back favorite characters.
Adam Smasher wanted David to become a construct but David rathered have died than that so Adam Smasher pulled a mercy kill.

@@Zyphernetic Yeah, this is big thing on this one as we see corpse. Though with Becka being very, veeeery deeply cyber - there was some possibility of some online backup treatment.
Lore-wise there is a big issue even with that though as software for it is rather rare even with in person... though weak versions by this time are apparently common enough to be generally used as funeral gifts etc..
It would not be 'total bs' if someone actually hacked and took Arasaka's prized Relic tech... likely even Anders Hellman himself could be involved in some way on revival.
The idea is ever more interesting as two things are noted by now:
Like You said Smasher wanted David as construct - so tech is being very actively used by Arasaka behind the scenes it seems (well we learn a bit on Mikoshi in game).
There is a big plot involving Silverhand's, Alt Cunningham's and potentially even V's perspective on whole idea of whether 'full construct' is still a person (well one of endings involved). THIS would make for an interesting plot for some potential season 2. Just imagine: seeing some 2 episodes with Becka being main character, looking a bit like prequel, but some things do not add up, like: maybe there is no Pillar around and then in in the end of second episode she meets David... but not in the same way as in season 1. Suddenly we cut out by then with Becka being either confused or downright in headache due to 'incomplete erasure or recent memories'.
Later one the plot could to some degree involve 'what exactly did happen?!' involving explanation of why they are around. This plot can go many ways by now as some more attentive players might remember subplots regarding AIs very actively researching human brain mapping and memory manipulation. Yeah, I want to see more of Mr Blue Eyes ~. This way would open path to both:
-Heavy NETWATCH involvement due to potential AI shenanigans
-Introduction of some new 'Media' character - a role which is quite prominent in the game (especially if we do Cyberpsychosis subplot) but was not overly present in season 1 (good! since this would be overload and make not much sense with ongoing gangsta-like plot).
Some Media involved plot with potential AI presence being shown is potentially very good plot involving a LOT of in game theories and being able to reintroduce some characters. Not to mention how many potential routes and plot twists it is open to!
It does not even involve all that much BS reasoning considering all in-world lore and both Becka and David having 'good potential' and relatively low profile all things considered (no Silverhand or Blackhand levels of shaking things up). So there is good reason for their bringing back ... and the whole moral conundrums! AAH! I wish to see this. Also: there is a lot of fans for both of them. I swear most would not mind seeing their 're-appearance' :) . Especially since I know many would really like to see more 'happier ending' to Rebecca. Bringing them with a 1 or 2 new 'main cast' would also be a not bad move for retaining the interest.
HELL.... I want season 2.

Whose to say that we won't see David, Rebecca and everyone else in glimpses as stories intertwine?
Even though his life seemed short,between each gig, David made radical choices that e may not have all discovered through one set of eyes.

She's always so in tune with her characters. Even more than the usual voice actor. This is way out of her typecasting as well. Never heard her play such a rough character before and she nailed it.

More recently, she voiced the main heroine in Akudama Drive, another cyberpunk anime, oddly enough.
11:14 the day I thought I’d never cry in an anime. this is why I love rebbeca, stayed with him even when she knew he wasn’t coming back. Truly a W in anime history.
Just finished the series, and she was my favourite character out of the bunch. David and Lucy are cool, but Becca and her bro were a lot of fun to watch. I watched the dub, but really like both her VAs. Sounds like both of them had a lot of fun playing this character.
That's kind of the point they were the comic relief, the good kind of comic relief that isn't here just give laugh and contribute to the story.
A good friend while she lasted. The right amount of Crazy, lovable, and loyal.
I wish there were more moments of the Rebecca & Falco dynamic. Those 2 complement each other so well.

She was the best choom. She was a bit crazy but really funny and supportive. She's so entertaining to watch, she could have her own spin-off and it would be a success.
One thing that really makes this character shine is her unwavering loyalty. That's a really hard virtue to find in a world like this one.
Lack of communication kills, literally in this case. But Rebecca refined her love for David into absolute loyalty. 11:23 is when she knew he was lost. But she wanted to bring him back, one last time, just to see him happy before the end. The only happiness that lasts in the City of Dreams is when you leave that illusion behind as Judy does or as V might do.
Man this series hit hard. You could feel the emotions like crazy, I wish it didn’t end up being a 1 season show 😢

Shes crazy in a fun way, silly, sly, no nonsense and straight forward.
She'll defend anyone she cares about like no one else.

Other character that I really liked was Dorio. She was trustworthy but also heartwarming and inspiring instead of cold and strict.
For me, Rebecca comes first, but Dorio was also a really good character.
I rly hated, made me angry as hell, and even made me want to be there with that group.
When Pilar died, everyone left Becca alone, Maine and Kiwi stayed back to talk to the ncpd, Dorio, Lucy and David went to the ripperdoc.
I think she was the most lonely of the group, she doesnt deserve that at all.
Also feeling like installing cyberpunk 2077 again just to kill smasher 800 times and get Rebecca's weapon from the corpo plaza.

Well Rebecca is a SOLO, a Mercenary that only has one skillset death and murder. Usually, Solos are just mercenaries hired for a mission, and the very next mission they can get hired specifically to kill you (despite being friendly on a previous mission). So Solos were never really part of "The Family", even if you were an official member of the gang you couldnt trust anybody, thats just how Night City works.
So, for her she may have NEVER had anyone close to her, loved her, or someone she could be vulnerable with.
Once David stepped up as leader, he truly cared for everyone in his gang. He was pure and true to his word, which is why Rebecca probably began to fall in love with him. Then when he revealed his secret about Cyberpsychosis and fully trusted her about his meds. It was just further proof that he trusted her with his life fully.

People not realizing that series wouldn't tease Smasher for several minutes if it wasn't an intentional Checkhov's Gun and whom Smasher is and then somehow being surprised by the ending.
It was obvious that some characters probably will die when they showed Smasher though it was sad ending ngl
Even without Adam Smasher showing up, well, it's Cyberpunk. There's no happy endings really, and an unceremonious but brutal death is what is inevitable for most people in that setting. It's so commonplace that most of civilization under the megacorps is numb to and/or entirely callous to it. Anyone even slightly familiar with the IP, regardless of what year it's set in, should know it won't end well for most of the cast.

Rebecca is easily the best character without being what I’d call the “main characters” (David and Lucy.) She went through an entire arc, grew to like David, grew as a character, and the end cemented her growth as a character. Staying for the man she knew she liked and loved even when he went psycho.
This show has a lot of pacing and story issues I have because of the ten episode limit (episode 7 to 8 being the biggest pacing and time skip problem I have), yet despite this they managed to make a side character grow with only such small-moderate screentime.
Love her. Shame she died the way she did, but I know why she did.

I'd really like to form an actual gang. If you could recruit members like Mass Effect 2. A big heist as the ending. Can recruit a Rebecca and others.
Thanks for this, I don't have Netflix so this was a nice chance to see some of Edgrunners. It makes the latest Cyberpunk 2077 update make a bit more sense with the new skill tree.

All the places you see in the show you can go in game, i was able to identify all of them just by look at it, the 2th Amenmedment shooting gallery, the Afterlife bar...and also the guns, you can have all of them, the baddies too, they really did translate the entire game into a actual anime, impressive.
Funny thing, after the last patch in the game? You can find Rebecca's body, and her shotgun, exactly where she died in the show.
