- What did Islamic political parties in pre-partition India say about Jinnah, Muslim League, and Pakistan? You may be shocked to discover that the vast majority of religious parties and leaders in pre-partition India were totally opposed to the Muslim League and Jinnah. Maududi, in particular, was the most vicious against Pakistan and Jinnah. From research I also found that MAOLANA was against muslim league. The reason is that literally Muslim league was not an islamic party. Its struggle was based on nationalism .That's reality u r right.

I am not a Jamaat guy nor do I appreciate Maududi. However, he was right, that in the Muslim League, people were not at all Muslim in their personal characteristics and were in fact non-Muslims. The entire party was a creation of wealthy landlords and businessmen who were absolutely westernized in nature(Aga Khan/Jinnah). Grassroot activism was very low as compared to the Congress party. This is the reason why there is a class conflict in Pakistan even today.

Secondly, Maulana Maududi's opinion before creation of pakistan about Muslim League and opportunists who were flocking to ML was real doubt, those who have no knowledge and concept of Islam and Ialamic regime, how they are going to eatablish Islamic law in a new State.

I want to highlight three points, 1)Yes, some religious parties and their leaders opposed partition and Jinnah. It was not only Ulama but also many non-Ulama/mainstream Muslim leaders who opposed Jinnah and partition. Why are we only targeting Ulama ? What does Ulama's opposition prove ? Opinions of parties, individuals and groups are based on their analysis of situation, which can prove wrong or inappropriate. It happens quite often in our own lives as individuals. We have seen many political parties in Pakistan or elsewhere who have committed mistakes/blunders and many of them accept it. What is wrong in it :) 2)You are also missing the point that there were religious parties and many ulama/mashaikh who supported Pakistan like Shabir Ahmed Usmani, Azad Subhani, Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi, MufitShafi, Maulaha Muhammad Ibrahim Sialkoti, Pir Ghulam Mujaddid Sirhindi, Amin-ul-Hasnant Pir Sahib of Manki Sharif, Pir Sahib Zakori Sharif, Pir Jamat Ali Shah, Maulana Sanaullah Amritsari. 3) Your quote from Ali Usman Qasmi's book re Tafhimul Quran is absolutely incorrect. It is not in the book of Mr Qasmi. It creates doubts about your other references as well.

This man is indeed a brilliant scholar, he should concentrate more on his teaching job and less on his political engagements. The real beneficiaries would be students and young people of Pakistan . Leftists are always very good in history and they are the ones who had lions share in writing the history in India , off course I don't think it's so in pakistan.

In early this year the Pushtuns were very much in news for their protest marches, meetings and their slogan........ iske piche wardi hai ! . They were indeed perturbed over killing of their young man by a karachi police despot. They had a formidable presence on UA-cam and handled PTM portal very well . The entire lot of people appeared very genuine, hard-working and their leaders appeared very honest and simple. There were few ladies also on forefronts, who were very dignified and spoke so well about their people's problems. Yes there is no news about them in last one year, their portal also disappeared. We knew about Bacha Khan, his Khudai KhidmatgAr party, friendship with Mahatma Gandhi and his role in freedom struggle. But today listening to you I got the real perspective of his role in emancipation of societies in Pak-Afgan bordering areas.

Funny story my uncle when he was living in Pakistan he was liberal when he went to south Africa and UK he become a very conservative Muslim
State policy of every country should be secular , personal life of Pakistani Muslims should be religious but it should be chosen by that person itself.

All misquoted reference , Facts are: 1. The only book 'Two Nation Theory' use by Muslim league in Independent struggle was written by M. Maududi.
2. Maulana Maududi was assigned to give lectures on Radio Pakistan for Islamic Government by Quaid-e-Azam.

Beautiful, Maududi sahib was a great religious scholar and an intellectual person. The likes of Dr. Israr Ahmad learnt from him. His house I remember on Ferozepore Road was a center of learning. He had a large following. Getting back to your point I think you are so right the creators were secular or beyond.

Thus, as per your argument, Jinnah wished Pakistan to be a welfare state as some European State may have been, all encompassing, pluralistic. And obviously, Maududi sought it to be on the pattern of Madinah, in his perception, theodemocratic and religious oriented. Of course in either of the cases, there was a search for betterment on behalf of the propounders. But neither Jinnah nor Maududi got what they wished it to be bcoz the masses whom they addressed have yet (even after 70 years of self-rule) to prove their collective civilized character.

Brother I have a reservation pertaining to this very post. In it you have tried to portray Jamaat Islami as an anti- social, thus anti- Pakistan, organisation which, according to me, is not based on reality. Even being a critique of Jamaat, I confess that Maududi's and Jamaat's stand on creation of Pakistan is often misquoted. What Maududi resisted was creation of a state in the name of Islam without the necessary preparations to practice Islam. Because according to him if a state in the name of islam remained unable to demonstrate Islam, in any sphere of life, it will malign Islam worldwide. So, Muslims need to have Makkan period of preparation before establishing the state of Madina. It is why Maududi remained away from Muslim league bcoz,for him, they seeked Madina without disciplining them selves at Makka. And what Maududi had predicted, proved 100% right for last 70 years. Allah gave us this state but it is yet to act as model for the world. We still have feudal lords and parasites like shareefs and Zardaris ruling Madinah thani, mamlikati khudadaad. Maududi cherished an islamic state were people would be conscious and God fearing who would have never tolerated such corrupt rulers and bureaucracy....
....So, I think we need to rise up from the hatred, eventhough keeping our genuine differences, and think holistically.
Hope you will take my point with an optimistic sense. May Allah s.w.t help the Captain at Pakistan to stabilize Pakistan and convert it into actual Madinatu thani. Aameen.

What Jinnah wanted Pakistan to be a modern welfare state like some EU countries are achievable and is more closer to the city state like Madina but what Maududi wanted was a nightmare, a fascist state in the name of Islam.

1947 - Assembly of 300,000 Khaksars in Delhi to Overturn British Rule
When Allama Mashriqi called for 300,000 Khaksars to assemble in Delhi on June 30, 1947, the Government not only fast-forwarded transfer of power, but also imposed section 144 in Delhi and formed police pickets on all entries into Delhi. There were standing orders to arrest the Khaksars entering Delhi.
According to the Khaksar circle, the overthrow of British rule was around the corner, but Muslim and Hindu leaders were directed to accept the partition of India before June 30th (which they did). These leaders ruined the pride of the Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and others for not conquering the Indian sub-continent’s (now Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh) freedom. Pursuing a transfer of power also speaks loudly to the fact that these leaders did not have power in the streets.

I was born in Pakistan. I have completed my graduation in Pakistan. Mr jinnah was my hero and I admired him a lot. Few years back I came to USA and I studied more history about tahreek e Pakistan and their leaders. After studying history, I realized that Mr jinnah was good politician , but he wasn’t that good. The partition of subcontinent was planned by England. They had too many reasons for that . Amir of Afghanistan, Amir abdur rehman khan wrote a book named “ taaj ul tawa’reekh” According to him, british were planning to divide subcontinent in to two parts. This book was written 47 years before the independence of Pakistan. How he knew it ?

Dr Taimoor, I understand that you want to highlight the difference in religious parties' thought back in the 40s and 50s and now, but this could have been done better. Having seen a video coming from a scholar like you, I was expecting a detailed analysis of Maududi sb's ideology but instead I found rhetoric only. Picking and choosing certain excerpts from a scholar's essays out of context, with snide remarks, just to make your point isn't something I expected from you.

Secondly, always quote Maududi sb directly from his books or periodicals because a lot of lies have been associated with Syed Abul Ala Maududi by other Islamic schools of thought.
Maulana Maududi himself was a distorted person without having a clear viewpoint of life or Islam, he just followed some middle eastern political writers and he loved the way communists and facists captured power and ruled. His facsist face was very much clear when his party started genocide in erstwhile East Pakistan in support of the Army to capture power. He is responsible for the rise of religious extremism in Pakistan when he started a riot in collaboration with other religious mafia groups in 1953.
