  • Traveling through an airport on the whole is fine for most of us, but what about people that have a disability? What is the experience like? Today i wanted to showcase what going through Edinburgh airport and flying on a Buget airline like Easyjet would be like for someone that is wheelchair bound on a flight from Edinburgh to Keflavík the main airport for Icelands capital city Reykjavík.
Covid 19 having shut down most traffic in and out of airport like Edinburgh airport & Keflavik international I wanted to find out if services for mobility for people with disabilities has been affected.
This Trip from Edinburgh to Keflavík cost: £126rtn for 2 people

Some airports staff and buildings are better than others

Amazing video dom. I think it's important you do videos like this. As a disabled person myself I know what it's like because most of my disabilities are not seen from the outside. I feel it's important to treat everyone with dignity and respect . Thanks again Dom for this video my friend.

No a problem, Personally I feel its so important also as i think everyone should be able to travel if they want to no matter their situation. 😁 I'm glad you found some value in this. 😁 I aim to do a couple more video with my mother looking at this topic, a couple I have planned are getting through a connecting terminal with assistance and also intercontinental flights with assistance. 😁

Fantastic you are making a video about people with disabilities. Yes, I have a disability too, and they thoroughly inspect my walking stick when I go through security. Your experience seemed carefree and seamless. How was the toilet facilities, and getting on and off the City bus in Iceland for your mum?
Your video deserves thousands upon thousands of views for giving people a feel from a disabled viewpoint!

I have always felt that this was important to film. They did inspect my mothers crutches too, The toilet facilities at Edinburgh were very busy, but I can't blame that on the airport as the others were undergoing a renovation, the disabled toilets were available. The bus was fine, depending on the company you go with, it will either be a coach or a typical city bus, the city bus is each for my mother to get in an out off as we just roll the wheelchair straight up the ramp. For the coach my mother does require my assistance due to the steps.

I have muscular dystrophy and it's progressive and it's one of the first times I'm going to use this service at this airport. Looking at videos of how it may be for me. Thanks for sharing!

No problem I'm happy you found it useful, my mother is very mobility disabled but I still like to be able to take her places without her disability preventing her from doing so. That's is why I filmed this video to give people an idea of what to expect. The only think that seems to be an issue in airports at the moment is the shortage of staff, for this i would just allow a bit of extra time in your itinerary to avoid any problems. I hope you have a good trip where ever your going. 😁
