So sad that Gilligan, Mary Ann, The Professor and The Skipper And The Howells are no longer with us! But in a way that's not true. As long as we continue to watch, laugh and remember, they'll always be with us in our minds and hearts! The one regret I have is I never got to meet any of these great people and simply tell them "Thank You for all the laughs and joy!"

@@tommycollins7846 Yes, a year later after your comment and Tina Louise is still with us. The sad thing that I didn't know for a long time was that she disliked the show and wasn't really that close with the rest of the cast members. She was one of my favorites on the show when I was a little kid. I remember walking home from grade school with my friends and when we reached a street corner and jump in the air, kicking my feet together and shouting GINGER! She was my very first TV show female attraction. I didn't care too much for the over acted movie star part she was given but I liked her because she was tall and beautiful.

In regard to what Russell Johnson said concerning the evolution of television characters Leonard Nimoy discussed in his second book about how his Spock character in the first few episodes of "Star Trek" was so radically different from later on. To begin with he said Spock was full of screeching emotion and gradually he began to get a handle on who Spock was supposed to be. Likewise with these wonderful folks from the Island. Then in the "Gilligan's Island" movies there was further development. Like when Gilligan became assertive as he and Skipper rescued Mary Ann from her wedding. 🙂

Each character represented a kind of archetype. The professor, with his erudite mind, wholesome good looks and healthy physique, he embodied Americas post WW2 can-do optimism, the 50's scientific push button age, the nations and NASA'S first forays into space exploration....Gilligan was the eternal awkward yet well meaning child, etc.

I had to add my favorite scene from an episode. They had so many great ones but the one that will make me double over still was from "Up At Bat" The skipper and the professor were Holmes and Watson basically in a dream sequence and arrived at the vampires castle to investigate the strange goings on happening there and when Mary Ann answers the door as the old woman who wrote them five years earlier, the skipper has this huge magnifying 🔍 glass and it has Mary Ann looking at him and he says that there's something wrong with this glass. There's nothing but an ugly old lady inside! The professor says something apologetic about the skippers manners and says you must excuse my partners remark ugly old lady! He still called her ugly while apologizing for the insult. That makes me laugh so hard to this very day man! Genius! Russell Johnson was always hilarious in the dream sequences too! Good show!!! They had some definite comedic magic going on in the show! All of the actors shined in my opinion. Tina Louise as well. I wish she was more proud of her great work in the show. She has some wonderful comedic moments as well. Maybe she's lightened up on it by now. We know she wanted to be taken more seriously as an actress but her work was great on the show! They ALL had wonderful moments and I'm very saddened that all but one are gone. Hang in there Tina!

Regarding being paid only for the "first five plays" regarding residuals, a clever lawyer would have added wording something like: "residuals payment PLUS payment any unforseen media that might be invented in the future that does not exist today...". I guarantee you wording like this exists in the contracts of today. Who knows what inventions will invented in the future and if their likeness is used they should be paid. "wish you were here," type of sorrow, of course, everyone cannot fit on the "Minnow," or the "Big Whale," no pun intended holistically or otherwise semantically metaphorically, or is it, simile? - speaking.
Can I slang the grammar police myself? Oh, thank you, that is relief from a three-hour tour and three-hour tour, eh, um, oh, do you have room on that island? The Professor's Island, of course.
Did the so-called, yes, down-to-earth, "movie star" break a hang-nail by using her nail clippers?
The dump, or is it not politically only correct stupid debate, not in entirety stupid,
Mary-Ann, or Ginger, they had been friends, thereby;- use of semantics could be a blessing,
but face it, they each had been in trapped on a deserted, oh, dessert, oh, long story, "Paul Harvey the rest of the story," no syndicated Copyright (c) infringement intended, for educational use only;-
the normal since the foundation of the world, how come? I did not Create the world, and neither did the professor, ok? Yet, a discovery has been Inspired by the Creator, like title and deed, "intellectual rights."
Oh no! Another proverbial book! Hmm, the Skipper, and Mr Howl the 3rd and Mrs Howl the 3rd, how did they ever sleep? The had some chores to do, oh, elderly chores and quite the fit ones,
to do, but the community spirit, of each of human caring thankful spirit,
prior to the, shhhh, Resort, the needed devout etiquette helped the audience, ok? CBS canceled on that fateful day in divine Providence, and their loss happens to be VHF and UHF syndicated, not just in the USA, but in the nation, some of the nations, folk loved enjoying Gilligan, the Crew's Island, ok?
So, by God Being Eternally from the past being so, up to presently now being so, and forever being Only In Entirety Benevolent, the harm is not from God, so God Shall Save, from then, something transpired, at the Scriptural texts of The Garden of Eden, and Abel did not deserve unearned suffering.
The long-expected Messiah had to come sinless and leave, as it happened, sinless;-
even though God helped and protected Him, Christ Jesus, he himself did not sin;-
He the High Priest, at the high priestly prayer of The Last Discourse, and Hebrews chapter 4,
in being sinless, overcame unearned suffering by the help of God, The Father, or Righteous Father,
as Heavenly Father Being God The Eternal Creator did having God's Seal thus has God's Seal upon the Faithful and True Jesus in Heaven. Okay, be like a child, ref the song, Psalm 8, and Psalms of 33, 85 and 139, by the Helper be in your hearts, ok, good today of days. Just peace from God. Thank God!

Actually what took that very successful show off the air was the producer Sherod Schwartz was offered a lot of money to take it off the air and get a lot of residual money from reruns.
