I heard about this show so I told my friend and I went to it. I was surprised and happy when I came across this because the friend that I went with eventually became my wife, and this was our first date and concert together. Unfortunately, she passed away in January 2021, but this was a great memory and a great time.
They really missed an opportunity to play Earache My Eye with EVH
lol..OMFG I would have loved that. Good call-out
I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING!
Johnny Beane sent me all the way from Tennessee!! Howdy to all My Music-In-Laws 🤠🤘👍
Thank you Ryan!

I saw these photos years ago, but first time hearing this! Thank you so much for uploading! I will talk about this on my “Exclusively Van Halen show “this Tuesday on my channel!
Right on Johnny! Love how your channel keeps the memory of Ed alive.

@@TheTapesArchive Thank you so much! Edward is the greatest, and will never be forgotten. 🎸👑
Freaky coincidence! Just this week I was telling someone about me being at this 1985 charity concert with Eddie Van Halen (and Cheech Marin on lead vocals)...and I was thinking "I wonder if there's a recording of it." Then today I see an article about it at Ultimate Classic Rock and there IS a recording! Almost spooky! Psychic? Love it. I was just saying Cheech was introduced as Cheech Lee Roth. I still have the T-shirt from the show too! Not mentioned in this article is that Beach Boy Brian Wilson was the headliner! Pretty cool, once in a lifetime event.
I was at this event also. I ran into Cheech in the bathroom. He seemed kinda nervous. It was funny when Valerie was introducing the band. Eddie put his guitar up between her legs!!!! I don't think Brian Wilson knew where he was at. He seemed way out of it. I remember he left before the last song was finished. I would love to see video of this event. If it exist. RIP EVH🎸
@@benjaminrojas2853 I have to ask...Were you....BORN in East LA?
I'm not the first and I won't be the last but thanks a million for posting this. When I thought I couldn’t love Eddie Van Halen any more than I already did, something like this pops up. I'm a big fan of Cheech too, so it's WIN WIN all the way.
Is there any video of this?? Never knew this existed so cool. Thanks for sharing this 😎

Thank you Johnny and Rob!
I agree! I recommend @JohnnyBeane as well!
This is right after the year long 1984 tour. And very shortly after this event, Van Halen would announce on Mtv that Dave was out of the band.
Wait until you see our Van Halen documentary coming out later this year. The break up info is crazy.
I think after playing with Cheech, Eddie had so much fun he decided he would get a new singer because Roth was too much of a pain.
Cheech Lee Roth LOL.
Awesome music and Johnny Beane TV sent me
Thank you Patty!
Thank you Johnny and Patty!
🤠 Cheech fronting Van Halen... Hey, I can dream
Haha..Plenty of weed to go around.
This was around the time Roth left and before Hagar was announced. Seems Ed asked pretty much anyone he spoke to to join VH. Shame Cheech never got the gig.
This is amazing. Can you fix the URL to the MER in the description? We can't click it
Sorry about that. Try it now
@@TheTapesArchive thanks, it's fixed!
