Hi Robert, yes we will see later today, the goal is for the electric pump to be able to pump fuel past the mechanical pump, then it’s a success, thanks buddy
Good deal Mike, I'm excited to see it work for you, then me. I will definitely be doing this to my 53 as well. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks for making video Mike,
That should do the trick Mike! Its nice how you can use the pump to push fuel tgen then it off the mechanical pump can suck through it. Have a good one Buddy 👍
@@DesertRatFabrication Yes Sir, $5.00 dollars. (five dollars). A guy I was working with bought it at a car lot for $ 3,800. He owned it for about 6 months and decided to go rabbit hunting in it. His brother-in-law went with him. While they were way out in the desert at night, the brother-in-law shot himself in the leg pulling out his pistol. They panicked and was driving like crazy because the blood was flowing big time. They made it a few miles and the rear end locked up. All they knew to do was start walking. The brother-in-law didn't make it very far so Robert, the owner of the truck, started carrying him. This didn't last long either. So they decided it would be best for Robert to go get help. He eventually came upon some other hunters and they got the brother-in-law to the hospital. He was nearly dead but he made it. Next day Robert had the truck towed to his brothers house. His brother was our boss. 6 months later the truck hadn't been fixed and Raymond, our boss told Robert he was going to have it towed out of his driveway if it wasn't gone when he got up the next morning. I told Robert I would haul it off for him and even give him $5.00 for it. He threw a fit but Raymond told him to take the 5 because it was going to cost a lot more to get it from the towing service and to get it fixed. So I gave him 5 and fixed the rear and have driven it ever since.
@Danny Wilsher that’s a really good story, I would love to see a picture of it, lol, I went back to the comments because I kept thinking 5 bucks wtf, that’s sweet
@@DesertRatFabrication Thanks, I shortened the story quite a bit... The truck is sitting in a shed in New Mexico. I live in Houston, Texas but I will get a picture when I go back. ...
Good morning Tony, yes I guess it will be successful if each pump works together the electric pump has to push through the mechanical, and when the electric pump is off the mechanical pump needs to pull fuel through the electric pump, so long as I see fuel at the bowl when I’m pushing the momentary switch I will call it a success, thanks as always Tony, oh yeah should have second video up by tomorrow 😀
You do good work Mike. All that scrap wood is worth some big $$$'s any more. I pretty much used all mine building the grandson's a tree fort. Probably saved $500 based on todays outrageous wood prices.
Good morning Dave, probably won’t use the electric pump much only in the winter, I guess it will be a success if the electric pump will pump fuel through the mechanical pump, and the mechanical pump will pull fuel through the electric pump when it off, wish me luck second video should be up tomorrow, thanks buddy
Hey C Bubba, really appreciate you coming by and subscribing, I will be going over and checking out your channel, just been real busy at work, I will make it a podium the morning to go over, thank you for the support
Good Video Sir! I like your gas drain valve. Nice spot you picked for that inline electric pump near battery. I like that paste you used. Can I get some type gas paste from parts store similar to yours. I've got a electric pump and regulator like to try out on one of mine. Congratulations on Your Channel! Its really nice.
Hey Foxbody, can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed getting to know you through our channels, you have some awesome videos, I just wish they were longer, lol, my name is Mike, what about you, talk to you soon buddy
@@DesertRatFabrication My name is Mike too. I'll make longer ones soon. The cold weather slowed me down on both my cars. Yeah I'll try to make longer and better ones soon. I'll have more on my builds after paint. Drag racing starts here in march so I'll pick up the pace. I wanna go to nonamenationals so need to grow for sure. It gonna be warm this coming week. Thanks again Sir.
Mike, I have a feeling this is gonna be great and the cold start will now just be a quick start.... Actually, I won't say anymore because I already watched part 2. Super videos brother!!
Hi brother Bill, you might be right, I have been in the oil truck all day making deliveries, so I haven’t had a chance to go over the comments, hope you enjoyed both videos, you know how much I appreciate you
Hi Chris, if it’s going to work the way I think an hour would probably be years, because remember I only use the electric pump to get gas to the carburetor bowl if it’s been sitting for weeks at a time, the truck will fun on the mechanical pump and since I don’t really drive it much in the winter I won’t use the electric pump much, in the summer when I drive it a lot I won’t ever have to use the electric pump, I should have the second video up by tomorrow, thanks for coming by buddy
That's cool! I've never heard of anybody doing that, right on. 😁👍

@@DesertRatFabrication sounds good looking forward to it, good luck
Very happy to see you using paste as a thread sealer instead of the tape.
Thanks Mike, we will know if we are successful tonight when I try to push fuel through the mechanical pump, keep our fingers crossed 🤞
@@DesertRatFabrication It won't have any problem pushing thru.
@@thenandnowautomotive547 nice I am going to go finish it up in about a 1/2 hr

Awesome truck! I have a 51 that I bought in 1972. I gave $5.00 for it and it is still about the same way it was when I bought it. Runs like a champ.
Right on Danny, that is so cool, thanks for watching buddy
Is that 5 dollars, as in 12345

Do these fuel pumps stay on while driving haveing problems with my gmc s15 losing power i think mine is coming off and on
Be interested to see how long that pump works we bought a Holley that is similar and it lasted about an hour and wouldn't pump anymore

Any chance this can be installed before the mechanical fuel pump?
Yes that’s what I did
