I'm not even close to a mechanic but here I sit thanks to the outrageous cost for a new truck watching videos and debating striping my 96 gmc sierra completely down and atemp to rebuild new. Oh God help to learn
I hear ya, the prices they want for their recall plagued junk is unbelievable. Getting ready to swap beds, replace a fender, clean and coat frame, and replace cab body bushings. I've owned my truck since new and I know everything in it, and with only 143,000 miles I'll give it some TLC and run it another 140,000.
My dads 96 chevy needed a replacement and here we are. Gonna take that off tomorrow
this was a very helpful video i was very skeptical on doing it in the blind thank you for the video

Just wrecked mine on Christmas Eve. Thanks for this it will help me out a lot
Exactly what I needed to see. Never pulled my own front fenders off but Im about to buy a front clip off a guy and ill have to remove it all myself. I knew there were a ton of bolts holding them on but didn't want to spend an hour trying to figure out where they all were. I wouldve gotten mad by the time i found that hidden bolt on the passenger side.
Working on my 95 K1500. Love the OBS! No Emissions, No Nanny's. Just fight the rust.
Or do like I did and fly to Arizona to buy a rust free one (OBS Yukon lifted to the sky) beat looking body style of the era
Liked and subscribed. I'm working on this tomorrow. My project truck my son bought me! I'm a proud father! we both love these trucks! Thank you for the video. I even know what tools to collect up to get started! Awesome 💯
Nice work and explanation of the location of the bolts
Thank you! I appreciate it 🙏
Awesome video , I am currently doing the same thing to my 96 k1500 ext cab. Your videos are very very helpful. Thanks again
Glad it helped
Great videos. I have a couple fenders to change on my 99 suburban. Same body. Shouldn't be a problem.
Excellent video... Thanks for taking the time making it... I'm about to remove 94 GMC K1500 front clip to work on the engine...This helps a lot...
Thanks a million
That helped out sooo much. And also the bumper removal too. Thank you
I know it's 1 year ago but this was a nice helpfully vid parting out a 95 so gets me prepared to get these off
Right on brother
Great video. I just removed the driver side fender off of my '98 W/T. Now onto the passenger side.
Thank you
This helped me a lot boss appreciate the video
Thank you thank you thank you thank you x1000 for this video.
You are very welcome 🙏 I’m happy that I can help you out
great vid . just what I was looking for
Perfect. Glad it helped you
Nice video. Love my 96 Silverado extended cab z71 4x4. 310,xxx and counting as my daily driver as a construction worker averaging 45 miles a day. I refuse to get rid of it for a truck that’s way over priced and will be lucky to see 100,000 miles
Great video. Very helpful. 1993 z71 that I'm restoring. Thanks
Glad it helped
You actually don’t need to take the battery tray off to take the outside skin off. I learnt that one after I did the work
Good video, thank you.
Thank you too!
My name Bill Thompson I own a 1992 Chevy Silverado extended cab pick up truck I am restoring it myself i going to put two new fenders an a cowel hood on an new grill an bumpers an do the body work an paint work myself i used work for Ryder trunk rentals in the body shop so got all the tools do it i bought the truck in 1993 i will never get sell it
Great video
Thank you
Thank you, I wasn’t sure if I had to take all those bolts off, no wonder there so stiff😂
Went to a junkyard to pull a fender for my dad's truck and wished I would've watched this first.
Nice
I needed this. I popped the hood on my 88 this morning and the anchor point on the fender for the hood spring on the passenger side just crumbled. I need to get in there and figure something out. I wonder if its still under warranty?lol
For someone like me, that isn't very mechanical. This is straightforward. Seems like a lot of time to get the fenders off but super easy.
It’s pretty simple
Nice
Ive a 94 gmc , had a slight accident. I can’t afford all new parts, so i need to try and restore the bends. I highly doubt I’ll be able to straighten the Fender.
That’s unfortunate. You might be able to find a decent fender around somewhere for fairly cheap. Keep your eye out
I appreciate you sm
I plan on using your extremely helpful videos when I begin to tear down my late fathers 96 GMC Sierra k1500 this spring. I want to have the frame media blasted by a company at my house. Any advice on additional parts to remove other than the bumper, fenders and the liners? I plan on removing all the suspension upper and lower control arms, torsion bars, CV joints, knuckles, and steering linkage and replacing everything that is too far gone with rust.
Remove literally everything off the frame if you’re ambitious. That is what my plan is with this truck
@@inlinepaintandbody thanks for the advice!
Thank you sir..
I need to do this on my father’s in laws 97k2500, how do you remove those pain in the a** black fender flares that are on it To paint them also? Do you need to take out the bumper and grill also???
But can you remove the outer fender with the inner still attached?? That would save numerous extra bolts being removed if you want both anyway.
Yeah that would really help me, in pushing it back into shape.
@@Skyrimnut FYI that is how I did it on my truck and it was not that difficult or needing to be " pushed back into shape".
Hey man my k2500 passenger side fender is completely rotted out lol and I got my truck from the same place
So just for the start, I would remove my grille, does my hood need to come off? I’m assuming the OE bumper could stay?
Did you figure out if the hood needs to come off? Debated doing mine this weekend but if the hood needs to come off I’m going to wait until summer lol
“Bumper filler peace” what is that actually called I can’t find it online
Is there anyway I can just take the outside off?
Yeah. Just leave the inner tub alone
So the hood has to be removed first.
That’s what I’m here wondering 😂
Do I need to remove the grill before I could removed my fender?
Yes
How can i know when its a oem on a junkyard? And its not a Taiwan?
GM parts will be stamped with their logo somewhere
Do you have to remove grill and bumper? Or can you leave them attached?
They aren't attached
That's why I let a shop do it as all the plastic parts break.
Yup some of those old parts get very brittle
@@inlinepaintandbody It's finding parts as it was an absolute pain in the azz trying to find a replacement lower valence with tow hook cutouts and fog light cutouts. It took an act of congress to find a replacement OEM fog light switch that fits where the electronic 4x4 controls go as my 4x4 controls are in center floorboard.
@@jamesm568 haha I feel your pain
how hard is it line it up
Super easy just start all of the bolts hold it in a place you think looks right tighten that stuff up I typically start at the bottom of the Fender work my way up and it worked towards the front of the truck
