I just turned to park and it came on and I’m like wtf
Saved my butt with this one. Randomly locked when my wife and I got out of a store. Sat in the middle of the parking lot fiddling with the button wondering why it won’t turn off. Got it unstuck with these instructions. Thanks!

Got into it with my Love last night, who can be a bit manipulative at times. Been out all night just hanging out in the parking lot in my Lexus lx470 when all of a sudden this light came on. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Don't have to call him while we're not on the best terms and hear the BS!💋
Worked for me in my 2022 GX460. Less is more! Only roll back like 6 inches, brake then into neutral and hit the button. It took me a few tries because I was rolling back to far.
Honestly can’t thank you enough. I drive a 120 series Prado and I’ve been seeing people solutions on this. They say change out the actuator and I was worried I couldn’t drive it until I got a new actuator coz the centre diff lock was still enabled. I tried your method and didn’t think it worked. But it did. Cheers man!!!

Makes perfect sense. I noticed this on my 4x4 1:10 scale toys haha. Traxxas trx6 is endless 10th scale fun! Just that slight reverse role does the unbinding and the click is very reassuring. Awesome they put that in the manual too.
Thank you for the advice. This happened to me about a month ago after driving through some muddy roads. I came back to the pavement and tried to turn off the dif-lock and got nothing but a blinking light. Tried moving forward some and no change, after a couple of tries it finally dis-engaged. This makes more sense and will know what to do next time

Have an '03 4Runner Limited and just last weekend I wanted to exercise the center diff ( I don't off road) and it stuck on. Finally got it to turn off, but thanks for your tips.

Thank you so much, it was accidentally turned on by my kid, tried turning off but it just kept blinking, I tried reverse about 5 times switching to neutral and hitting the button didnt work, then I change it to drive about 2 feet and neutral then it worked, lights gone.

Can you explain to me why it happened to me? I never used my 23' GX for off roading and it happened when I was reversing from my driveway. I'm not sure if it's because my driveway is in a incline position and I had the tires all the way to the right. Thank you brother
did you lock the center differential before you backed out of your driveway?
I don't remember if my knee could have possibly press it, I was able to fix it with your advice. Thank you

Will the new Tacoma be more capable than the current GX?
I don't think so. The new Tacoma will be the analog to the new 4runner. The GX should get all the features and a stronger powertrain... but time will tell 😃
Should those gears be lubricated ? Is that possible ?
the whole center diff/transfer case is lubed with gear oil inside the case.

I bought a used 2003 4Runner with a center locking differential and no owner's handbook. I sort of stumbled on this "cure" after trying the locking differential. With the center diff locked, you certainly shouldn't be driving on the street.
