I remember watching Idra streams. The only man saltier than Artosis on ladder. "Oh... he's bad." "He's just bad" "He's so bad i can't predict what he's going to do" "so bad" "He's not bad... but he's playing the most overpowered race so it's not hard." loved Idra haha
Tastless bring me on to tell the story from like 2008 about when you helped me get an interview with IdrA for the team liquid site, which is still there, and he was a huge prick to me just for wanting to interview him lol
I'm listening to Tasteless cast over Tastosis casting an old Broodwar match, while I'm playing an old RPG on my Switch in the back of my van (which is my home) in southern CA. Dunno why I'm sharing this, but life is good. and I appreciate you Tasteless, ever since the early days I've been watching, even saw you and Arty in the GOMTV studio (I think) long ago.
I started playing Broodwar in 2002, but only became aware of the e-sport scene in korea around 2006 or so. I remember bantering with a friend who was the manager for NoA and mTw that won alot around that time in CS 1.6, about what was the better e-sport, but I didn't really follow Broodwar until 08/09 or so with moletraps vods. And then this 2009 WCG was the first time i listened to you and Artosis, I think. The Stork - Jaedong final put me on the hype train for SC2, and been I've there ever since. Thanks for the years of entertainment Tasteless :)
Tasteless, Artosis, Day9 pioneered the shoutcasting for E-Sports. Don't get enough credit for how far the scene has come. Back in the early days of SC2 people said Zerg were under powered until you watched Idra and Fruitdealer.
@rpglover101 I will forever have my own brain-made GIF burned into my memory of Nestea rolling a billion banelings into a bunch of thors while Artosis screams "I'M NESTEAAAAAAAA"
@@felipesoares5900 Everytime i talk to some shorties im like not to be a downer but im warning you rn, your 14 and on this game, you'll look back on this time as golden and you don't even know it yet. I just gave you a chance to think on it, so good luck. feel like such a old weirdo doing it tho
IdrA in early SC2 was one of the better memories I have from that time in my life. Loved that all so much that my dog HuK just turned 12. Why HuK you ask? As a puppy, he had top 3 control with his tennis balls 😂❤
Tau* and yeah I miss snow and ash maps too. Unfortunately the pros do not like these tilesets very much so we will probably never see them again. Shame.
Really enjoying the history videos, the game has been out long enough for that type of content. Its great to see how the game, players and casters ^^ evolved over the decades and it's incredible how a game allows us all to be a part of something special.
Idra was the goat, he has made me run the entire gamut of my emotions over the course of his career. I regret not buying a graken shirt when I had the chance
Wait... Tasteless and Day9 are brothers 🤯 i used to watched a heap of competitive Starcraft 2 when it first released and I cant belive never knew this!
Idra and I had a bunch of bad run-ins in SC2, I'd beaten him as both terran and protoss, so you can imagine the trash-talking was quite extensive. I hung out with him at an MLG event and we got along quite well. We went to a Subway together and he ordered a plain roast beef on white bread, no other toppings or even cheese, **microwaved**. It was from that moment on I knew he was just a simple basic boy who was yet to blossom by experiencing love and adventure. Hopefully at this point in hs life he's found both.
@@DanielMorganJr-b1w Idra was the only player to hit A+ during the TSL2 ladder stage. There was a small stretch of time where he was clearly the best foreigner.
its actually hilarious how iconic the fucked up tasteless sc1 voice is, like for me that shit nostalgic as fuck, happy u got your voice figured out though but its actually funny being reminded of it.
We need you to recast / revisit WCG 2005 USA Finals in New York. I still watch your brothers "my life of starcraft" ( ua-cam.com/video/NJztfsXKcPQ/v-deo.html ) from time to time. Fn awesome. Now its your turn.
request: explain why some pro went to poken and which skills from sc1 translated there (I guess apm and decisions under time pressure due to multiple tables)
I know you have been mostly doing brood war history but I think one interesting topic right now could be to look back at the tankivac in sc2. Maybe a good game with it and look at some of the history of its introduction/attempts to balance it. I think it would be interesting to look at right now as Stormgate currently has their own version of it, and it might be relevant for predicting how Stormgate balances/handles it as the game progresses.
I wanna see someone try to use ai to upscale these old videos especially the ones from the early 2000s with boxer and what not. Logically you could train an ai on starcraft remastered and do it I imagine, though I wouldn't have a clue how to do it myself
Everytime I see Idra, I get a warm feeling knowing that in SC2 beta, he actually started out playing Protoss. I was the **last** Protoss game for him on the ladder, where, as such a noob, I beat him with Zerg, and he said "F*ck this, I'm going Zerg." and switched races.
He was already thinking about switching. He blames Artosis for putting the idea into his head, feeding him all these sweet words like "Zerg fits your playstyle the best."
For this video I found the social info on the bottom right for you really annoying. Would it be possible to have it more centered so it doesn't cover up supplies in the future?
Higher quality vods? kids these days! This *was* the quality and we were damn happy to have it! Thank you for keeping this lore alive!
IdrA and White-Ra throw me for such a nostalgic trip.
White-Ra is my favourite sports personality!
Man I miss SC the memories I will never forget watching you guys on tv while playing on my pc. RIP to InControl Geoff

That last one is probably the nicest thing he ever said to an opponent 😂
I wish I'd saved some of his VODS. alas all those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain

WSBN and TSN predate anything our SC boys did.

Getting 2-0’d by the grack at a local LAN was the highlight of my sc2 career 😂
RELEASE THE GRACKEN!
I wish Idra was remembered more for his amazing zerg marco hes who i modeled my play after
The funniest side-story in this video is the conversations of the two skitzos in chat, lightone1111 and Darthbadass 🤣
That was a nice nostalgia trip :) y'all definitely were pioneers creating the starcraft and e-sports culture. so many good times
I bought a handsomenerd "I love DT's" shirt and my friend bought the "I hate DT's" shirt.
Artrosis and tasteless so much leaner back then it look like they were smoking grack

I just fell into a liquipedia rabbit hole for WCG. WCG 2007 had the group of death (group D) with players aSS and cooch. Not making this up.
The comments is pure ball torture, hopefully videos will be uploaded without them, great video.
First time hearing Day9 is actually a blood brother? Whaaaat? Where have I been for the past 15 years....
It's funny everyone will always remember IdrA for the trashtalking and controversy, and White-Ra for being such a nice person. Ying & Yang.
My most found memory of Idra was when he got upset that he got beat by protoss. Name any protoss and he would cry.
Tau X was a nice map, i liked it. RAGING iDrA was superentertaining too.
With no villains there are no stories. I will always miss idra
