This is way better than that era, although I definitely prefer the golden era of the late 80s and early 90s where he was unstoppable. The simple truth is that no human in their 50s is capable of everything they were in their 30s.

How the fuck these guys still got THIS energy left in their sixties is a mistery to me.
I've been listening to their music almost everyday since 2003, I was a teenager in his prime.
Now I'm 35, and watching them in this shape, spitting out the bone as time doesn't struck for them, sincerely makes me cry in an inspirational way.
Thank You James, Lars, Kirk and Rob. Thanks.
It's not that hard to understand really, you just need to enjoy music and take care of your health. These guys have a good diet, do cardio and get massages, which is what you should do at that age regardless if you're playing metal in your 60s or not. My parents are same age as them and they have same energy, it's just healthy living and exercise. No mystery.
Only Kirk is 60 :p they still got a lot left in the tank 💪

Not sure why, but this album feels much better live as a whole. I have a better impression of the new material listening to it live
That's the first thing I thought when I heard 72 Seasons in it's entirety. It's going to me much better live and feels like it was written to be that way.

I think one of the main reasons is the mixing. Drums is way too loud on the record and guitars sound muffled a little. You can feel guitars and vocals on live. Just hear that break section in the middle. Guitars are clear but on record all you can hear is the hihats.
It doesn't matter what times and trends in music we have. Metallica will always have a full stadium. Long live guys ❤

The fact that Hetfield is almost 60 and still sounds this amazing is absolutely mind blowing. His voice has aged like fine wine, which can’t be said about most other rock and metal vocalists.
He ain’t fat like axle.
For such a rock star, he seems very humble
the cleaner sounding vocals were a turn off for me for a while but things seem to be turning back around in recent years and im LOVING it

James is in the best shape I’ve seen him in since around the time Through The Never came out in 2013 they are in their 2nd prime as far as I’m concerned

In my honest opinion, this is one of the best songs Metallica has ever released, I find it impossible not to headbang to the main riff. Yeah I know, people will always prefer the first 4 albuns but this song in particular is up there too

Load and Re-Load are whatever. A nice change of pace and an evolution of their abilities.
Black was their sellout, but oh-so-worth it.
Justice, Puppets, Lightning, and Kill 'Em All have greatness, but I almost like their newest three albums better. Same galloping riffs, but more complex and polished and refined as musicians. No longer angry, angsty kids either. Wise, experienced, but also jaded.

sadly his solo was edited.. he improvised live again and it looks like he fucked it up. Just pay attention to his fingers 6:28 and listen closely. I feel sad for kirk.

A little story about me:
I've been a fan of Metallica since 86, around when Master of Puppets came out. I think all albums are good, and many lyrics are very strong, where I can see myself in them.
I've never been to a Metallica concert as I have social anxiety, which also means I've never met one of them from the band before, just to be able to have a few questions for Lars or James.
Metallica music and lyrics make my day a little better.

Im still trying to understand what's going on there. They are tuned a half step down from the album, which would make that note a G rather than G#, but he is clearly not fretting anything. 🤷♂

@@RyanLang7 they’ve just transposed the riff to Ab instead of going to G in the live tuning. I think they are doing it out of ease of playing because the original riff in key is quite the challenge, fretting wise. That’s really the only reason I can think of.

Also, I think this performance is a good example of Lars - for all the shit he gets, he plays his heart out. He's into it. He's working hard. He's rigorously in shape. He has to be the most needlessly hated musician on earth.
I don't think Lars has ever deserved the shit he's gotten. People say he's got an attitude, frankly no more than any of us. In fact from what I've heard he's probably way nicer than a lot of us. And yes, he had a stretch there live where he wasn't always sharp. BUT, for a guy who basically taught himself how to play, no lessons, Kill 'Em All drumming sounded great to me. And he's one of the greatest rock drummers of all time, period. I think he's earned that distinction.

Personally I cant stand him when he talks but he is very good at much of the producing. Here it shows he is really into it. He is great drummer though. His triple beats are perfect at the right time of the songs.

Use to carry thier kill em all cassette tape and all albums after with me everywhere. I'd break it out on everybody back then. So wild they are the monsters they are today. Long live Metallica!

Metallica have got to be the most legendary band of all time. These guys are almost in their sixties and they are still creating and playing amazing music like this in sold out arenas and stadiums all around the world. Still as bad ass and relevant as they were when they started in the 1980s. Timeless and tireless band.

@@Sara-gy8wf going solo is way better, in my opinion. You can really let your hair down and go wild, without worrying about anyone you know seeing you.
Also, I find that when I go with other people, they're never as much as a fan as I am. If I have a general (not seated) ticket, I'm the kind of person who will arrive an hour-and-a-half before the doors open, wait in the queue, quickly buy two or three beers before the opening act comes on, find a good spot near the front of the stage and wait there all night until the main act comes on. When I've gone with friends, we normally start to queue up 10-15 minutes before the "doors open" time and we get in while the opening act is playing. Then during the breaks between the sets, they might want to go to the bathroom or get a beer, so I have to go with them. By the time the main act plays, I'm way in the back.
I take a few photos at various times throughout a show and maybe a short video or two. I try to actively watch musicians perform. I feel I actually remember more later on

Metallica hasn't sounded this tight and in sync in a long time. Lars is keeping a steady tempo, James and Kirk are in almost perfect unison with each other, James' vocals don't sound tired, and Rob is killing the bass and backing vocals.
Props to Rob, his bass on this album can be HEARD and loud. His vicals is a joy to me.

Guitar players - There's something about how they play 72 in THIS video that I can't seem to understand. During the bridge section(5:30)...the album version is played on the 4th fret(A flat), but in this video they are both clearly playing open A string. The rest of the song seems normal(how I would play it). What am I missing? Are they doing tuning trickery with the Helix/Kemper? (Ignoring that this is played half step down live as a whole)

No doubt, this is the best album of Trujillo's era.
The sound is just incredible live for these guys. You can tell they still love the music, and playing together. Brings a smile to my face watching 10 year olds screaming "wrath of man!!"

This is such a playfull album they put out and you clearly see they enjoy it the fullest tearing it up live as well. 🤘
Lars got some really good instruction by somebody with respect to playing efficiency based on economy of movement and clearly really focused on kit ergonomics in recent years. He is a MUCH MUCH more relaxed player and that frees him up at his age to open up is his playing and be in time and lock that pocket down perfectly.
Is he Dave Lombardo? No. But he never was. But it was clear he was still trying to play a kit like he did in his 20's and early 30's.
But past 45 you gotta focus heavily on ergonomics and maximum impact based on the least amount of effort. Otherwise you vaporlock.
He's also using a click track and that's critical. And beyond that he's accepted his limitations pulhysically and adjusted his drumming compositions accordingly.
The result? A Lars could easily play another decade.
