thats how i feel now, payed for shorts on self checkout, took checks, walked out(heard some signals but thought it was mistake), got home and saw this tag thing... now they 100% got my photo, etc, thought to bring shorts back but most likely no one will believe i didn't take other stuff, so I now banned from that shop forever

Been embarrassingly beeping in every store in the mall as lazy saleswoman was too busy flirting with my husband and forgot to remove the tag.... 😡 you're not helping thieves here, you're saving the nice honest people who paid for their stuff but been mistreated and left with tags on! Thanks!

This is what happened to me except it's a half an hour drive each way.
This worked PERFECTLY! Just as you so aptly demonstrated, and my distance to return is only 4 miles yet STILL not worth the time to park and go into the mall - for THIS? No way! Thanks for taking the time to post this! Bless your heart! You ARE an officer and a gentleman!

THIS ACTUALLY WORKS! I tried to use the fork method and it went horrible for me, I ended up bending the fork rlly bad smh. But this method was so easy and I was able to pop it right off. Great video!

Anyone else try this for 90 minutes with no luck? I have a torn plastic bag, made a few mm of progress, and my hands are red. I appreciate helpful videos and see mostly positive responses. I’m just here to represent those who tried and it didn’t work.

My niece just found one on her jacket that she bought at a thrift store so we couldn’t take it back since it had to be from the previous owner (since the thrift store doesn’t have security tags on their clothes) so I googled how to remove it and found your video and it worked great!! Thank you so much 😊
Used this method on a thick crocheted top my daughter bought, and because of the fabric, it was NOT as easy as this looked. But, with the aid of a butter knife to help work the bag in along the way, I got the tag off. We'd gone on a shopping trip for her birthday and live nearly four hours from the store where the clerk forgot to take off the tag (and told us to leave even after calling us back). Thank you so much!

Thanks a million! My daughter bought a Minnie Mouse dress from Disneyland and they forgot to take off the tag. She was attempting to cut the pin with a steak knife but it was too solid. She found your video, we had a plastic bag and it worked like a charm! I was quite surprised at how easily it detached using your method
Thanks. Just got home walking an hour from the store. But no one's to blame. I had used self check out and forgot to remove the tag. Wonder why it didn't beep though.
For those who are saying it didn't work, I thought the same initially. For me, I wrapped it real tight and once the wraps were thickly wound enough, I gave the long end of the tag a couple of twists. The thing is if you're twisting the tag in the right direction, you'll feel a sort of resistance, and the wrap in the middle will get tighter, and you'd probably hear a snap. Had to do the wrap and the twist a couple of times to have it fall off.

It works. Do not let the tag spin. Wrap the plastic tight as many times around the tag's needle as possible.

@@LotusAquatics bro. I only have so much bag I can spin around. And the more it spins the thicker the bag seems to get around the tag. And mines on a pair of thick jeans which makes it even worse
I can't believe that actually worked. I had gotten my son a new pair of PJs; well the day after I discovered that the new employee didn't take the tag off. I have to walk everywhere I go, including work so I really haven't had the time or energy to walk it back up to the store. I tried to do the burn method but it didn't work. Today I came across this video and I am so thankful I did. My son was so happy when he found out that he can now wear them. Thank you so much for making this video!!!
Honestly this video is a lifesaver because I got home only to realize that they didn't remove the tag from my clothes which I paid for. This worked so well and I'm so grateful.
Brilliant video! Mine was on trackpants from using a self serve checkout 🤦♀️ It did leave a little hole because there was plastic around the actual needle, but easily fixed with a few stitches! Thank you!

I tried the magnet but didn’t have one strong enough so your plastic bag trick worked great! If you're reading the comments and want to give up, don't!! It's maybe not as seamless as he made it seem, but turning the tag and persevering until you hear the click worked after a while :)

OMG got home from shopping at a store 30 minutes away from me. Of course there was a tag still on a top. This worked perfectly. Also in my case I wrapped the bag really tight around the hook 3-4 times and then around the whole item. After it was really tight I then turned the long handle part a few times. After hearing the clicking noise a few times it came right off. No damage to the item. Thanks again.
Wow, this turning of the long handle works for me. I was just about to give up after my hands got so tired of wrapping and wrapping the bag around and around to no avail. In fact, my shirt got a little deformed from wrapping & turning the bag too hard. Thank you so much, @The Artist Frida!

When I was ready to leave the house, I noticed that they didn't remove the security tag. There's no way I would have gone all the way back to the store. I needed to resolve this issue within 5 minutes as I was already late. Thank you for the video, it was a life saver.

My dad just bought pants today at Macy's and the worker didn't take off the security tag. She did for the other clothes, but forgot one.
Worked!!! Fyi, this also worked for a tag with a RED INK in it. Once you remove it... the ink will eventually bleed (not a strong flow, but it will definitely come out). So I was very careful to keep the clothing away from the tag as I twisted the bag. At first I was discouraged, but didn't realize that pretty much the whole bag would have to go into the loop and then after 3-4 "clicks" with some elbow grease it came off. Again, a warning to those who are dealing with a security tag w/ink. It bled for me (not a strong flow, but it would have damaged the jacket if it touched it). Good luck guys.
Thanks for the warning! That's what I'm worried about. The tag stuck on my sweater says it has ink in it. I might have to drive the hour round trip to have them remove it. The sweater is black but I really don't want to risk getting ink on myself.
I mean I need to go look for a suitcase anyway. So I guess I'll just have them take it off. I wasn't planning on going to Macy's though so it's really annoying.
That store is really run down + overpriced. Also, barely any employees there. It's weird.

I wounded the plastic bag tightly around 10 times and then held the pin head(small part) tightly and twisted the tag head (big part) to the right and it came right off in less than 10mins
Spent 110 on a backpack from bass pro shops which was 40 minutes away. They forgot the tag. I used the method and it worked. So helpful! Appreciate you!

I went and spent a Christmas gift card today and came home to find my new shirt still had the tag. Had to comment to say that everyone should try this method first!! Worked in about 20 seconds!!

This didn't work for me, unfortunately. I didn't have the same kind of plastic bag used here. I ended up crushing it in a vice on my grandfather's workbench. It was very satisfying!

THank you so much!!! I got a huge bag of hand me downs from a friend and there is a super cute baby outfit that is brand new but still had the ink tag on it. I know the receipt is probably LONG gone, so I didn't want to try to deal with taking it in to see if they would remove it.

Didn't work for me. Cutting through the top with side cutters and releasing the metal lock mech with a screwdriver had it open in about 2 minutes. Probably just depends on what version of the tag you get.

Thank you, it worked. Had to use a tool for more coercion than just plastic. It just happened to my mom today after getting back from Dollar General. I asked her for the receipt to check if it was on it. But when the cashier asked if she wanted the receipt she said Nah thinking it would save the paper, but it printed anyways and he through it away. The security alarm went off but they told her go ahead...it's something to do with the cart. Thanks again my man.

Got most of the needle out with the grocery bag. I was able to get the rest out by wedging the backend of a hammer between the device and the clothes. The needle ended up breaking before pulling out but it worked anyways 😂
Yes i did the same. Also if there is any room just use a wirecutter. The pin will stay inside and your tag is off your clothes :)

Oh my goodness THANK YOU it worked!! I had to remove 2 and you saved me 1.5 hours of driving plus gas. It took about 8-10 wraps to remove.

this DID NOT WORK. I tried doing this with a brand new pair of white shorts and the ink popped and spilled all over. I now had to try multiple ways to try and get the stain out and hopefully one of them will work. will never try this again.

This is a life saver we have a family vacation planned I bought a nice winter jacket at the mall and didn’t notice the tag was not taken off at mall, mind you we’re 3hours into our trip. I did this with the doggy poop bags thank you so much you are a life saver

What a helpful video! I did self check out and forgot all about the security tag until I got home. My kid threw away the receipt so I couldn’t bring the item back to the store. For months I set aside the garment thinking it is no use until one day (today) I said let me check YT to see if there is a DIY tip for removing this at home.
