    Thanks for having me over to the shop for some trouble shooting! Honored the one and only John Malecki did such an awesome build around the "Servita". We have had a ton of fun designing and building the Servita over the last year, and are leaving it as an open platform for others to build on top of. @@feltronI was thinking that as well, it would just need linkage to the lift mechanism (plus safety switches) to prevent the lift from rising in case of arm failure

    Just a pro tip from a former bartender: instead of leaving the bottle of (whatever liquor) open with the tube in it, drill a tightly fitting hole in the bottle cap to fit the hose thru. The reason to do that is to seal the bottle so that the actual alcohol doesn't evaporate, both losing the purity of the liquor and causing the wood on the inside to bubble, discolor, and rot. Also, drill a small relief hole so that air can get in while the liquid escapes thru the tube.
    Just a thought.

    • @dawnchesbro4189
      @dawnchesbro4189 11 місяців тому +15

      Or include a couple standard bottle caps that have been modified to accept the hose and have the small relief hole.

    • @KuptisOriginal
      @KuptisOriginal 11 місяців тому +8

      Fun fact: push the tube all the way to the bottom like a straw and completely seal the top. Yes it will create a vacuum in the bottle but it's not going to be enough to crack or break the bottle. That's how spray bottles and dispensing bottles on a commercial dishwashing machine work.

    Love this! I'm a vet who loves woodworking and bourbon and lasers. :)
    There's a couple things you can do to improve the quality of the laser cut. One is to raise the work material off the bed as the "flash" marks are caused by the laser hitting the bed and back on the material. This is more important when you need both sides of the material to look good - in this case obviously a little sanding will take care of it. The second thing is more air. The built-in air systems are always just about worthless for cutting. More air = less burning and more precise and cleaner cutting.

    I bought that same all black screwdriver and built a new PC a few weeks ago (14900K and 4090). Best damn screwdriver I've ever used for building a PC. I've built about 100 PCs over the past 25 years, and I wish I had this driver years ago. The swivel bit holder made a huge difference, it's like a precession driver, and it made installing the MoBo so satisfying.

    One tip for the laser when you’re cutting thicker wood instead of cutting it in one slow pass cut it at a faster speed with multiple passes.
    So for example instead of 1 pass at 4mm/second cut it at 5 passes at 40mm/second. (Obviously test to find the right numbers)
    This results in significantly less charring on the sides and tends to work out to cut faster overall!
    Hope that helps.

    Most enjoyable 35 minutes! Awesome work, I have a Drink Machine that makes mixed drinks so I can appreciate what has been done. You might pass on to the inventor a paristaltic pump which can actually be 3D printed. No priming and it makes it very easy to change just the tubing as well as the programming for how much liquid to dispense. The alcohol never has any effect on the pump. The wood working is simply outstanding.

    18:41 "Juosten Kustu".... if you put the button under the puck, you could have the table pour you a drink whenever you put your glass on the puck and you wouldn't need Alexa integration or wifi or any of that. Also, if you used a peristaltic pump it could pump right through the tube walls solving several issues and really controlling tightly metered dispensing. I remember seeing a simple 3D printable peristaltic pump on Printables a while back.

The ethanol (the happy stuff…in moderation) evaporates at room temperature…unless it is under pressure. At 9:35 I have a really good solution that I was taught from a Canadian carpenter he said if the gaps are just an 8th of an inch or even 16’s of an inch I got told to mix the same saw dust very fine ! With wood glue and fill in the cracks with fingers like smudge it in makes a really clean look n dries to look like it’s one solid piece n also no seems ! I would give it a shot

    Awesome! It would have been cool if you put two mirrors in the bottom in a triangular shape where the edge is in the middle facing the onlooker, it would reflect the sides and make the box look completely empty. It’s what magicians do to make things disappear

    Car headlight sprayers are spring loaded and have a second spring to close the tip. So when the pump loads pressure into the line to causes the sprayer arm to stick out before it opens the tip and when it fully extends then the tip opens to spray out. Only issues would be the high pressure and you would have to make a custom one for far less pressure for said drinks.
    Small switches/contacts can be used to set pump timers for approximate flow calculations. So when the tip opens then said off timer is started
    Maybe add a very small air relief near the tip to purge the air out near the tip or even on the tip, it could even be a one way check valve that closes once water hits it

    Hey amazing video and the table turned out great. You could consider making the block base that you screwed the device on and the part that is actually visible that you put your glass on thinner so the glass could go lower so it wouldn't spill.

    Great idea and build, as this is a prototype will MKII have sensors? A no glass safety feature is a must and a tad more fiddly, fluid levels on the app?

    You need to look into the Kerf offset function on your laser to account for the thickness of the laser beam. It'll help alot with your inlays.

    to make the inserts look good (referencing @9:38), just tinker with your Z-offset in Lightburn. then it will fit perfect.
