Cheers. Exact video I needed man. The first half dozen were American Vids with completely different handles/screw designs. Thanks for uploading and sharing.
I like it, daughter is renting . The handles and locking parts all broken. Has the vanguard double hooks. Replacement is very expressive and landlord can be sketchy about paying you back for repairs. So this looks like a much simpler and cheaper way to go.
Ridiculously clear and thorough video. I’ve got that same crappy lock and I’m off to Bunnings tomorrow. I guarantee I’ll struggle and end up doing it like Steptoe and Son in which case I’ll return to this video and think why can’t I do it like you. Thanks Bill
@@billshowto I had to come back and say a massive thanks. Job complete. I did use Whitco Blaxland which is a deadlock. I was terrified I was going to cut that cylinder tailpiece too short so I used the spacer (which was metal). I can always remove if I need to later. I took a huge amount of time because I really studies the process….the screws stumped me a bit but after watching another Aussie tradie talk about the screws in the packet I felt confident everything was going in the right place. Massive thanks to you. I’ve been watching a few of your videos. Massive plus on watching an Aussie with products we have here.
Thanks Bill, You’re a champion, thanks for your clear, concise visual instruction. Please keep it up, you’re an invaluable resource even for an experienced handyman like me!
Hello Bill just came here to say thank you for making this video easy to understand and you were very detailed with each step. Subscribed to learn more.
Thank u Bill instructions where fantastic I did everything you said but my door opens from the left so I had too put the lock upside down not perfect but it works good 👍 great video
Great video I Have just installed a unit BUT i am having no end of trouble locking the door with the inside key ! the out side key locks the door The inside key operates the hooks as does the inside slider nut BUT the inside key just wont turn that extra 1/4" to lock the door ie actuate the red plastic flag. Any ideas would be super appreciated mate
Thanks for the video! I have a small problem. I can’t remove the key when the door is locked. When I adjust the tail bit then I can lock with the key and remove the key but then can’t remove the key when unlocking the door…
Hey Bill, we have two patio doors that are both locked shut, and the key doesn't unlock the silver lever any more (17 years old, handle is similar to yours, but has the key barrel, above that the chrome lever which unlocks it, above that the black lever which opens the door). Can you suggest a way to remove the lock when it's locked shut? We can remove both face plates, but still can't access lock...
Interesting i had exactly same old latch and replace with whitco same model,a little trouble with mine circlip pop off when I was testing the latch and the two cover screws where binding badly too long had to cut 8mm of the screws
Thank you for the incredibly useful video, Bill. I managed to get this job just knocked out in just a few minutes thanks to your help!
Thank you, you have saved me so much time. Everything was so well explained.

Excellent video. I’ve been using a wooden block to hold my door closed for 19 years🤦🏻♀️. To my defense, I live alone and 65. I could do this.😉
Thanks Bill,

Hi Bill, Do i have to take the door off its tracks?
He said you don't need to. He took it off just to bring inside for noise issues as he was recording and in a block of units.
Quick question what is the previously drilled holes are stripped?

Does key have to be in door to lock and unlock?
Does it have to be same lock or can be different brand ? I have exactly like the one you have used .
It can be any brand 👍
Can you link the product you used?
Some of these you flick it down to lock and others you flick it up to lock. Can you change between these ?
The outer pull was on the wrong way. And with those types of locks the handle it's self is the last thing to go on.
You must be spying on my house
doing all the same jobs
Lol I’m trying to upload the most common repairs to help people out
