    Leo - Thank you, thank you, thank you!
    Your simple but direct video just saved me from having to replace a sliding door in preparation for a home sale. Instead of $2-$3K, I spent only $37.81 for a new latch that was easily installed - and $15 of that was for expedited shipping! Your video is UA-cam at its best. Thanks again!

    Wow! Very precise, under two minutes extremely informative video. I was able to fix the lock on my patio sliding door yesterday within minutes. To the point and easy to understand. I loved the idea of keeping a pen or a thin screwdriver in the lower hole so that the unit does not fall inside. Thank You so much Leo!

    Thank you for a clear and concise video. My lock stopped working last night. Fortunately we had extra locks from the last time this happened (I was not the one who switched it out then), and I was able to switch it out in 5 minutes, without calling anyone for help. I really appreciate you and your instructions.

    Excellent video. I encountered a small glitch. If you watch the video, just after 1:05 my latch did not slide out. It had been stuck there for years. I had to gently tap it in so that it became unstuck and then nudged it down so that the latch came down by an inch and then I was able to slide it out. All else worked as shown. Thanks for the video. It saved a lot on time and labor.

    Thanks so much clear concise easy to follow, and quick. Only difference in my door is this giant u shaped channel of metal which slides around on its own, a little bit fiddly, but your video made it so much easier, lucky I have needle nose vice grips (this was the key instruction missing from written ones in the package the previous time I had to do this, that took 30 minutes to fish the old one out with a magnet).

    I’m having trouble despite the instructions. My original mortise lock fell into the door so I have no idea what size/model I need. I put a e2014 with a 45 degree in but it doesn’t seem right. I have to really push a lot to get it locked down. What am I doing wrong?

    • @PrimeLineHowTo
      @PrimeLineHowTo  2 роки тому

      Without getting the old lock out I can't say what model you would need. If you already have the E-2014 installed, did you try adjusting the hook distance adjusting screw on the face of the lock. Adjusting this might help.

    • @Ripley_Ellen
      @Ripley_Ellen 2 роки тому

      @@PrimeLineHowTo I did try everything I could think of. I wound up taking it out to return. Something is wrong there. I’m not sure if it’s the “catch” where the lock is supposed to click into or if it’s the lock itself. A handyman said he wouldn’t be able to help me without the original mortise lock so I have no idea what I should do at this point.

    • @PrimeLineHowTo
      @PrimeLineHowTo  2 роки тому

      @@Ripley_Ellen To get the original lock, you'd have to take the door out of the track and flip it over so the lock will slide back down to the hole. That's a two person job.

    • @Ripley_Ellen
      @Ripley_Ellen 2 роки тому

      @@PrimeLineHowTo oh wow. That’s not good. 😕

    • @PrimeLineHowTo
      @PrimeLineHowTo  2 роки тому +1

      @@Ripley_Ellen The other way is with a STRONG magnet. Press the magnet against the frame, towards the bottom, and slide it up towards the hole. Usually the frame is aluminum or vinyl, so the magnet will slide easily and should bring the lock back up to the hole.
      Put a rag between the magnet and the frame to prevent scratching.

  • @Rick-5728

    Uhh, how about showing how you actually installed it, instead of just saying "in the reverse order"? It's actually pretty tricky to get the lock in there and screwed in. How did you do it?

    • @PrimeLineHowTo
      @PrimeLineHowTo  4 роки тому

      In the reverse order. Use pliers, or better yet vice grips like we used to slide the lock in and get it lined up with the mounting holes. Not easy to do with only two hands, but easier with a helper to hold onto the lock while you install the screws. Be sure to use the "pen trick" so you don't drop the lock down into the frame.
