- Grateful Dead perform “One More Saturday Night” from the 2022 Meet-Up At The Movies. For information and tickets for this year’s meet-up, head to www.MeetUpAtTheMovies.com.
This year we’re celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the legendary Europe ‘72 Album, by bringing the previously unreleased Tivoli Concert Hall, 4/17/72 performance to the big screen.
The sixth show on the Grateful Dead's famous Europe '72 tour was a return engagement to the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark, on April 17, 1972. This ground-breaking concert broadcast event was the Dead's first major live concert broadcast, and a first in Danish television history. The film is fully restored, color corrected in High Definition with audio mixed from the 16-track analog master tapes by Jeffrey Norman, and mastered by David Glasser, Tivoli 4/17/72 features nearly an hour and a half of the Grateful Dead at a peak of their performing career. The show's many highlights include an overview of the Dead's 1972 touring repertoire, including magnificent versions of China Cat Sunflower ➡️ I Know You Rider, Big Railroad Blues, Truckin', and many more of the Dead's classics, as well as the first live performance of He's Gone, and other new songs including Ramble on Rose, Jack Straw, and One More Saturday Night. Pigpen, on what would prove to be his last tour with the Grateful Dead, is well-represented by three songs, including the broadcast's opening number, Hurts Me Too.

#GratefulDead #AllTheYearsLive
Probably the best live recording of this song! Clean, clear, crisp everything!
How can anyone listen to this and not feel joy flowing through them??
Some people have cold, dead hearts, that's why. Wish them well
You can't!
jerry's tone during Europe 72 was magic, pure Stratocaster sound!
I completely agree. I love his tone on Greatest Story Ever Told on this tour.
Pure Highly-modified Strat.
The guitar was transformed into a serious custom job including (but hardly limited to) new Schaller tuning pegs and gears, a series of bridges (Gibson ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic and an Alembic custom), a new control plate (hammered brass), taller frets, and an in-board post-volume "blaster". "Each pickup cover had its own individually grounded wire,"
Yeppers. Probably not a popular opinion but he could have played that Strat his entire career and I would have been happy.
@@litedawg agreed
Or the SG!
europe 72 was just magical and beautiful
nothing better than seeing jerry crack a smile while playing.
Amen to that!
They still have it. Saw Bob Weir and the gang Saturday. It was amazing!!!
'Cept like 10x slower now.
nog altijd touren, wanneer komen ze naar Amsterdam. Dat word een feest. .. of zijn het inmiddels ouwe lullen... anyway lekkere tune.
They're a band beyond description ❤
All of us will never be as cool as Rosie McGee dancing on stage with the dead
Wow! This is on the same level as the James Webb seeing a new galaxy…
The red glow is longer wave length light.
This show can be heard and felt, as well as seen. Tops the JWST in multiple categories ;)
A Radio Telescope
My first love listening to the dead.. Jerry's playing from 71 to 72.. badass
65-74 are da bestest years to many
1972 Dead is the best Dead imho
Why am I always surprised by these guys? I'll take one more please 🙏
This is just FANTASTIC!
Great upload..."There's gonna be a party tonight!!!!" 😎✌ Jerry playing a Strat...got to love it!!!!
I’m ready for the meet up at the movies!
They were frigging killing this an no one was up dancing save a handful of people! This song has always made me want to dance!
European crowd. More subdued.
When Phil hits that bass power chord for the breakdown I wanna flip tables.
My dad loves the grateful Dead ❤️😍 yay 😁💓 lol bye he's in love with it 😂
I dont know why but i love it when Bobby tells us to "listen!"
Jerry truly diggin’ bein’ a rock ‘n’ roll star.
I was there 9 years old woo hoo!
My favorite lineup. Billy really swung the whole band. Never really understood the double drummer thing. It got mighty sloppy with two guys trying to figure out which downbeats to play. Listen to that man laying it down, with traditional grip, too!
Good music. 👍 👍 👍. GRATEFUL DEAD GREAT BAND. .
Incredible!! A phenomenal band at their peak! No theater anywhere near me, I wish they would release this in blu-ray.
I put this version of OMSN up against any other, this one is straight 🔥
What a fired up song by Bobby!
wooohoo one moe Saturday nightchall!
listened to this tape so cool to see the footage
Bob had some amazing hair!
Oh goodness gracious, when The Dead were on … THEY ROCKED!!❤
Absolute bliss 😊
Jerry plays on, in my shadow. Forever Grateful. ✌️🎸
Beautiful !!
Thanks
I needed that‼️
That groove was so much tighter when it was just Billy :/ Keith is killing it
has more swing IMO. Micky was a like a metronome; fantastic, just different.
@@cityslacker6221 Metronome? Mickey Hart? In the Dead? How can you think that? He was always out of time, over complicating things and disrupting good ol Billy’s flow. Constantly. He was the only band member that was kind of expendable. Sure the Drums and Space sections were mostly his idea but anyone could have done it.
@@cactaceous nah. he was the most disciplined. Most of the dead had timing issues, which is why he stood out.
@@cityslacker6221 You may be his lawyer or son or something because in over 40 years you are most likely the only Head I’ve come across that has made such a statement in Mickey Hart’s favor. Consensus is against you.
@@cactaceous I was being completely facetious and now realize I didn’t come across as funny as it sounded in my head 🫣😬
Blu Ray release this😎
Jerry Garcia playing Fender Stratocaster is all the best! "Alligator years" were the best!
It was the best of times....
Bobby was 24 here! Crazy how good he was already.
Smokin’ hot, wow!
Amazing
I love Rosie dancing. Such freedom.
Isn't that Donna Godchaux?
@@alastairgreen2077 no it’s Rosie McGee.
@@jenniferdean2095 Who's Rosie?
@@fatamorgana4318 Christ..google it. I wouldn’t insult her by just stating she was Phil’s girlfriend. She was so much more than that.
@@jenniferdean2095 kunt say whaaaaaaat?
will this be released on blu ray ???
Last tour with Pigpen. The Pigpen years were the best. Maybe it was his blues influence, but it's mainly that I like the acid rock period the best. It's amazing how young Weir looks and his voice was still fresh.
They were some of their best. Right up at the top. But dude there is no denying 73/74 and 77. Among many many others. And we haven't even gotten to Brent yet. They truly aged like a fine wine until Jerry got sick in the end.
Agreed; that's no off-the-shelf Stratocaster, though. Bravo!!!!
No mickey, donna isnt screaming, life couldnt be better
In 72 these guys were great and still getting better! UA-cam cannot do ths justice. Can't wait to hear this with remastered sound cranking out of some real speakers.
Lovin' bobby's hair, I think the '72 shows are my most favorites!!
There was no meet up by NYC that I saw for this year.
Rosie McGee on stage cut’n a rug up! Wish I was there 🎉
big body gibson with a clean sounding strat.. wouldn’t mind being at that show
You asked me what I thought about the comment that Nick Tube made I would say it was a very great comment and somebody who knows his instruments how many people know what a Stratocaster sounds like. Great comment Nick Tube
.. the Relentless grind of trying to have a good time on the weekend.
Tonight will be one more Saturday night for the books
Y'all apparently still haven't found the Dark Star and Caution?? Such a bummah! You could do what Sunshine Daydream did and add animation or just about anything during the songs that have no video so that the fans can go listen to an entire Europe '72 show on movie theater speakers!
Fire!
THIS is the dead I wish I could have seen live..............
Great ❤
can we get much higher?
always!! 🧙♂
I loved the dude walking parking lots at concert with a scroll hollering "DOSES"
@@marybethunger624 ICE COLD FATTY!! ICE COLD FATTY!!
Nope - not gonna happen 😂😂
great❗😃👏👏
⚡💀⚡
Guitar guy with the beard not bad
Is that Rosie Mcgee dancing behind Jerry?
Yes, Rosie
Bliss
Bobby just having a blast!!
This has always been one of my favorite versions of this song. Even when listening to just the audio you can hear the love and fun coming through his singing and screaming.
Keith and Jerry were grooving as hard as Bobby. Beautiful to listen to
Go Bobby Go!!!☮☮☮☮
Love Donna jamming out.👍💎🙏so miss all these guys playing together. Got blessed with 52 concerts though. 💗👍💎🙏
That's actually Rosie McGee. (Check out Rosie's book, "Dancing with the Dead"-lots of great pics and stories!)
Great version! From E72?
Went down to the mountain, I was drinking some wine
Looked up in the Heaven, Lord, I saw a mighty sign
Written fire across the heaven, plain as black and white
'Get prepared, there's gonna be a party tonight'
Uh uh hey, Saturday night
Hey uh uh, one more Saturday night
Hey, Saturday night
Now everybody's dancin' down the local armory
With a basement full of dynamite and live artillery
Temperature keeps risin', everybody gettin' high
Come the rockin' stroke of midnight, the place is gonna fly
Uh uh hey, Saturday night
Hey uh uh, one more Saturday night
Hey, Saturday night
Turn on channel six, the President comes on the news
Says, "I get no satisfaction, that's why I sing the blues"
His wife say, "Don't get crazy, Lord, you know just what to do
Crank up that old Victrola, put on your rockin' shoes"
Uh uh hey, Saturday night
Hey uh uh, one more Saturday night
Hey, Saturday night
Then God way up in Heaven, for whatever it was worth
Thought He'd have a big old party, thought He'd call it Planet Earth
Don't worry about tomorrow, Lord, you'll know it when it comes
When the rock and roll music meets the risin' Planet Sun
Uh uh hey, Saturday night
Hey uh uh, one more Saturday night
Ohh, Saturday night
Hey, another Saturday night
Hey, another Saturday night
Everybody's get high
Hey, another Saturday night
One more Saturday, one more Saturday night
When the titans walked the earth
The audience just sitting at 3:11?? I'm sorry but I would have been trampling on folks getting down. J/k of course. But my God how can this not make your body move.
Where do you see the meet ups?
Spectacular performance of "On More Saturday Night" -- Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia were at their youthful peak...
nice energetic tight version.
Did they wrap the amps with tie-dye covers themselves or is it custom
Their good friend Courtenay Pollock did all the tie dye & fit them on their amp covers.
how many more
The Grateful Dead being a rock ‘n roll band!🎸
Love it!!!!
I don’t know if 72 can be topped
The alligator !!!🤟🐊
The look of happiness on Bobby's face when they break to jam says it all. 🔥 ❤️ 😢
Just want to say if not for chuck berry this song would've not been written.
Lol...... can't believe all these people commenting that the woman dancing is Donna. Jeezus.
It doesn't even look like her.
Such a different band with just Billy.
Does anyone know if Jerry knew Jimi Hendrix? I wonder if Hendrix liked Jerry's incredible ability to improvise endlessly with 0% boredom from the listener ???
Bobby jammed with Jimi hanging out around the time of Monterey Pop '67. Either backstage hang or a music shop beforehand (can't recall details I read years ago). Jimi was invited to jam with the Dead I think at Fillmore East. Jimi hooked up with some girl & bailed on the gig. Jimi showed up the next night expecting to be invited to jam. The band turned their backs on him & never invited him up again. "Music before chicks!" Read that years ago. There are some interviews out there with Bobby talking about jamming w/ Jimi.
Did anyone happen to catch the set list for this particular screening of this performance? I know this gig is available on home media but I'm trying to find the specific list for the "Meet at the Movies 2022" screening of the 4/17/72 Tivoli TV broadcas.
Alligator before the sticker!
Love Keith's piano.
Goes on just a little too long to keep the energy up.
Dose up💀⚡️
November 1st at the laemmle in Newhall, California!!!! 2022!!
Awsome, and no Donna to ruin it! Doesn't get much better than this!
Amazing but posting this on a Thursday is a travesty!
Yeah. Friday would have been better, but ........
Why is everyone sitting on the floor!?
Pure 72🔥
Bet the whole freetown of Christiania was there.
Gee, thanks for this! It’s not like we haven’t seen it a million times or anything. 🙄
Aaaand as if, we couldn't see it this a million more times...
*Endless priceless Deadication and Love, for Jerry.
SWINGING!!!
What a classic line up: Chong on lead guitar, Jim Carrey vocals, Jeffrey Dahmer on bass, Bill Murray on drums, and cousin It playing the keyboard 🎹!!!
So tired!
This is not in '72 . I see it by camera-stripes who where a typical problem in the 80ties
This is not 80s
@@leemurray4158 it's indeed possible it is 1972. In USA the video-camera's were earlier
