A much humbler crowd than in their later years. This song, along with Casey Jones, Goin' Down the Road Feelin' Bad, Sugaree and Bertha was my introduction to the Grateful Dead. Where I started graduate school in 1972 there was an "underground" radio station that played these songs, along with many other great bands. We had an embarrassment of riches in those days, unaware of how lucky we were. I hope the younger generation will have its own renaissance. They need and deserve it.
give him a break not everyone can be Paul McCartney, that has never been an easy song to sing and they rarely got thru it without a muff here or there. Anyway its only rock n roll, who cares?
It amazes me how they kept those tricky lyrics straight while under the influence of who could say what? Hell, I can't even get the words right whilst driving down the road trying to sing it.
At 4:50 it really shows why this was the dead’s peak in terms of performance. The jam they flow into is some of the best improvisation and groove from a band in the history of music. Just astounding and so jealous I wasn’t in these times. I’m 26 and I can still feel the soul of the Europe ‘72 tour. Long live the Dead.
Damn..I didn't know about the 2022 Meet at the Movies, featuring this concert. Damn. Europe 72 opened my eyes, and ears to the Dead, and I've been there ever since...
Does anyone give any thought to how good Bob Weir was, to be that young? He never got better and damn sure never got worse! "Its like aliens just dropped out on earth one day! He just came stock, one of the best in the world! "And Jerry? There's not even words, to describe that phanominam!
Agreed, Jerry was still honing his skills in 72. He improved tremendously in 73,74, then blew the doors off in 77,78. There isn't one guitar flub on 5/8/77.
The previous one was the Beat Club show from Germany, same tour but done in a studio. There was a studio audience.the parting gift was a good headful .Mr Cutler.
I am a distinguished Librarian here in New York and have had this job for 22 years. Culture is changing and so to resist, I will make sure to discard the LGBTQF Children's books that are delivered to our library. I have thrown away hundreds if not thousands of these evil anal marriaging books.
I guess Howl goes in the can then?Let's have compassion , I get it that you don't want to promote certain behaviors to children but this clip just smokes and I tuned in cuz I'm a Deadhead! That's the only closet I came out of ! Peace be with you!
Europe 72 was The Dead at a peak, firing on all cylinders
my all time fave , a true desert island disc
Truth! The Dead at it’s best! NFA
Couldnt agree more brother, though Im fond of late 1968 early 1969, and 75-79. 1970 - 1972 is where its at. The band at their best! 👊
Best era of The Dead

Doesn’t seem to be the case. So happy we have this material to watch now. That’s all that matters. What a long strange trip it’s been.
Beautiful comment, I'm young and definitely a part of keeping this beautiful culture alive and passed on to the youngins
yes both success and familiarity breed contempt
I would had loved to had heard that underground radio station! I'm 52.
And didn't come up in a to bad of a world.
But you my friend, got to live!
It was a movie theater on Eddy.

Bill's heavy shuffle groove is one of life's greatest pleasures to listen to

Too bad we don’t get to see much of them here.
Damn..I didn't know about the 2022 Meet at the Movies, featuring this concert. Damn. Europe 72 opened my eyes, and ears to the Dead, and I've been there ever since...

The best Dead years...
My favourite!
Wow I miss them!
This is so high quality.
Boy that Strat, sounds great with Jerry playing it...
I loved when the dead only had billy on the kit. 71-74 dead just hits different
Jerry rocking the Strat!
the epitome of live concert jamming
1972 is so important.
Classic Bobby 😂😂😂

The Song trip ...
Morning dew Europe 72 next pls
I'm saving it to watch on the big screen on Nov.1st. Thanks anyway.
A perfect example of the psychedelic jam.
Now this is cool! Always loved Europe 72' but never realized The Dead used EV's RE-11s. Was that what they went to after the dual-omni set ups? 🙃
goin' to the movies tonite and not caring about what everybody else does. even though going to the movies would be a great idea as well also.
Bob's voice noticeably better in the earlier years
✨⚡💀⚡✨
Phil is wearing that t-shirt Bob Dylan made popular.
Thats a Harley Davidson t shirt
@@bigbillmontgomeryjr2346 Right, Phil has on a Harley Davidson t shirt. Dylan's was a Triumph motorcycle t shirt.
Dammmmm.....

I'll see it today, but what do you guys think... should I take a tab first or isn't it worth it?
F'ing awesome!!! The nitrous & window pane were strong in Europe back then !! Tripping at the Tivoli Gardens is a top 10 (or top 5)something .......
who was at the regal theater in Chicago for meet up at the movies and did u order ur shirt.???
Garcia looked after us
And before us lol
A long strange trip indeed
The Doo-Dah Man'.....Classic....Dead...
72 was a peak for the dead. But never as the 77 was.
66-72 all the way
Agreed, Jerry was still honing his skills in 72. He improved tremendously in 73,74, then blew the doors off in 77,78. There isn't one guitar flub on 5/8/77.
What guitar is that?
Still a long strange one
Same exact show the time before last time we went to meet up at the movies.pretending this is unseen footage is less than genuine.
The previous one was the Beat Club show from Germany, same tour but done in a studio. There was a studio audience.the parting gift was a good headful .Mr Cutler.
@@maryrickert9220 i stand corrected ty for pointing out my mistake . ♥️⚡🎵
Weird seeing pigpen
Not weird, but wonderful. I guess he was tickling the 88s? He didn't seem to be too busy.

Distinguished librarian!? 😆
Good. Thank you.
@@doodahman2995 If not for anal marriaging books, Dr Ryan wouldn't be here! 😆
Would expect nothing less..

Pigpen sure started playing a real mean organ once Keith was around… job security is real thing… it’s scary
How much that night? haha.... Still brill tho!
Bob looks so coked out lol !!
