Marvel created Spider-Woman specifically because they learned that Filmation was going to have a Spider-Woman in one of their cartoons. Filmation ended up changing theirs to Web Woman.

I actually met the artist and animator for Web Woman in a comic shop when I was a kid. Denny McNeill. Young guy by comic artist standards. He drew me a headshot of her and signed it with a personal message. You can definitely tell some similarities between Web Woman and Souder-Woman.

I hope they do a bald cap variant during her oppressed origin era then have her let hair down as a big Spider Woman freelance agent era and attempt Secret Invasion again. This was an awesome reminder of why i like the concept of a female Spidey person so much

I think it’s time for a new era (SPIDER-WOMAN) cartoon show series to get made now, and then later introduce the Madame-Webb who also exists in it.

There was Spider-Queen published by Fox Features in 1941, the character went in the public Domain and Marvel made their own version of her as part of the Battle Axis in WWII. They never seem to include her in the storylines involving multiple Spider-Women of Marvel. It was surprising Nick Fury Sr didn't use her talents in the 1950's with a Paperclip deal given that she was an anti-Communist.

    Good video. 👌
I don't like any of the Spider-Woman characters to be honest. I like the May Parker Spider-Girl and I like Haruka Hida the Sakura -Spider from Deadpool Samurai.

I was editing it and I realized I missed May Day haha. But to be fair she is a Spider-Girl.....and not in Madame Web. But yeah, I've never been a big fan either. I would say I prefer Julia Carpenter as Spider Woman. I don't mind Silk, just don't like that her origin is tied to Peter's as closely as it is

    Enjoyed the video 👍
I appreciate you putting yourself out there and being real like you do in your vids. Some of the comics channels I watch don't feel authentic like the vibe you're sending out.
I enjoy the outakes at the end, it reminds the viewer that these vids are a process of refinement and it's important to keep perspective and have a sense of humor about our slip-ups.
May I make a request? I'm interested in how you got into comics. Is that a story you'd enjoy telling?
If there are any comics that mean something deeper to you, like an issue that really affected you or is tied to something that happened in your life outside of comics, I'd love to hear about them.
I used to go fairly regularly to the comic shop my older brothers and I went to when I was a kid with the excuse of taking my nephew to try and expose him to comics,
but due to the pandemic I couldn't take him and eventually due to that and the shift in the quality of modern comic storytelling he lost interest altogether and switched to manga. Now he's dropped manga in favor of playing baseball.
I enjoyed talking with the comic shop employees and fellow customers about how they got into comics and what specific comics meant to them. I miss those interactions.
Being that you're from Canada, our comics experiences will naturally have some slight differences and I'd like to know about yours.
Looking forward to whatever your next vid will be about.

Thanks man, I really appreciate that.
Comics are always something I have kind of been into. I don't recall any specific event as a kid that got me into them....we just had some, due to money and access I wasn't really able to collect. When I was 11 or so I found a comic shop that I went to regularly just to hang out, it had arcade cabinets as well....to this day the street fighter 2 intro song takes me right back to that shop. It was there I was able to buy a few things for myself, right around the death of Superman to age myself haha.
We moved after that to a small town, and my interest never died off but my access did. Eventually I met a friend who had a box of comics and a vast knowledge, I vividly remember debating with him over who was going to survive Onslaught as it was happening (though not buying any of it)
In time I would get my license and a car and the hour drive into the city let to me finding a new comic shop and starting my reading and collecting for real (this was happening in 1999 and 2000 which are coming up in my 'reliving the comics of 25 years ago series'....which is also shifting to this channel for March) so many of these stories and moments will be talked about there.
Then I moved to a different province and city as an adult and found my home store (that I still visit to this day) and got a pull box and everything. From 2000 to 2007 I was spending 20-100 dollars a week. Then I slowed down a but and by 2010 I wasn't getting as much, I had shifted to trade paperbacks. But kept up on big events.
In time I would get the Marvel and DC apps. They are great and affordable. And now I can read whatever I want. Though reading new stuff for me has been very few and far between. I like a lot of classic stuff but for me the 2000s before the films boomed is my golden Era.

@@HaussmannComics-xd3gnI'll be looking forward to those coming vids👍
Thank you for telling me about your comics journey. It fascinates me hearing people's origin stories about how they got into them and what books or events stick out most to them.
What you said about Street Fighter 2 really resonated with me, one of the comic shops near where I lived as a kid also had a SF2 cabinet. It was the Champion Edition and I almost always played as blue Blanka.
My start in comics in pretty vivid for me to this day in my 40s. When my two older brothers would be babysitting me in the mid to late 80s, they would read their comics to me. They would do different voices for different characters and read the sound effects like "thwip" and "KRAKOW!" aloud dramatically.
Given the time period they were reading to me, I grew up thinking Spider-Man had always worn the black and white suit, Hulk had always been gray, Iron Man's armor had always been red and silver (etc.) and when the Marvel heroes switched back to their iconic looks I thought those were new for them.
My brothers read both the Uncanny X-Men and X-Men Classic books and I had it stuck in my head for a while that Archangel and Angel were two different characters.
That late 80s to early/ mid 90s was a golden era for local comic shops where we lived at the time.
Our dad was in the Air Force and we lived on Air Force Base housing. Going to a LCS was a treat, we got most of our comic cards and comics from the spinner rack at the shoppette convenience mart and gas station in the base housing. There's only one comic shop left that we used to go to as kids, World's Best Comics.
I can still pretty vividly remember a lot of the comics I inherited from my brothers when they got more interested in girls than comics and a lot of my first comic buys when I started collecting on my own.
There was about a half decade gap in comics for me between 1996 and 2001, my mom went through a extremely religious phase then and comics, cartoons, TV/ movies were outlawed as "ungodly".
I snuck whatever I could, whenever I could. At the ages most boys/ teens would be hiding Playboys from their parents, I was hiding comics and video game magazines from my mom.
When I turned 18 in the early 2000s and got my first job, I started getting back into comics, but the characters and artwork had changed drastically from what I had known growing up.
Like you, I switched to almost exclusively trade paperbacks at that point and my interest in current comics really slowed down by about the early 2010s, around the launch of DC's New 52.
I still keep up with what's going on in comics, but I don't collect any modern/ current books. I go for mostly TPBs, graphic novels and back issues for anything from the 2010's backwards.
I've fallen in love with many older books/ titles I never gave any thought to as a kid. It's been fun discovering and rediscovering them. That's probably why the youtube algorithm led me to your vids.
Thank you again for the reply 🖖
